DBlackston 298 #1 Posted October 3, 2022 Have any of you ever seen one of these extended belt covers for an HY-3? I have seen alot of the short ones that go right by the pump but never one that goes all the way to the motor drive pulley. Kind of neat and I like to ride my 854 with HY-3 with my neice and that would make me feel better.
Pullstart 62,812 #2 Posted October 3, 2022 It doesn’t look too hard to fab up. Do you have access to a sheet metal brake? Or even some 2x4 lengths that you could make a makeshift brake?

ri702bill 8,296 #4 Posted October 3, 2022 (edited) This is a picture of the OE guard - HY-2 on a 702... Yup, a fair amount of exposed belt there... as @Pullstart said, not a big deal to fab up an extension.... just have to watch for interference with the PTO foot lever. Lane Ranger 10,947 #5 Posted October 3, 2022 That extended cover on the 854 looks very much like the early rj/suburban front reel mower belt cover. I sold two of those on here several years ago when Rodney Burger and I bought $5000 of old Wheel Horse parts ( pre 1970 stuff). But it also may be a homemade version that was similar in design. They were a little like #3819 side mower guard but attached very similar to one on the 854 pic. 1
WHX?? 48,801 #6 Posted October 4, 2022 So you are saying Lane they were not offered as optional in the day? Or maybe but adapted from other parts by dealers?
