Skwerl58 704 #1 Posted September 29, 2022 I have been searching for good front tires for my 1970 GT14, 18X6.50X8. There are a few available but I want a true to size that will be durable. Hopefully (still working on it) it will be used as a part time normal worker and grandkid transporter. Turfs, ribbed , it doesnt matter but I do want a a good tire at a fair price. Any help is appreciated!
Pullstart 62,905 #2 Posted September 29, 2022 Any tire that’s not flat on the bottom should work for that duty, for quite some time. These 16x6.50-8’s we’re on a GT14 and they are in good shape if you’re interested..
953 nut 55,290 #3 Posted September 29, 2022 Carlisle tires tend to be true to size and very good quality, $ 70.00 a pair delivered to you. They are 16" tall, not 18" I bought a pair of Carlisle trailer tires from these people a couple weeks ago and they were at my door in two days, good quality. https://tiresshipped2you.com/collections/all?filters=brand:Carlisle+rim_diameter:8&page=
Sailman 1,291 #4 Posted September 30, 2022 My GT 14 had original "wheel horse" front tires that are 18 x 6.50 x 8. They measure almost a full 18 inches and I would not consider anything smaller myself. The tall 15 inch rears and the size of the tractor IMHO need at least an 18 inch tall front. Be aware many new 18's are only about 16. I bought some DeeStone 18 x 6.50 x 8 and they were pathetic! Barely 16 inches tall so they will be going on my C-120. I saw some 20 inch at Tractor Supply that I will be replacing mine with. Full 18 inches tall.
19richie66 17,508 #5 Posted September 30, 2022 (edited) I bought Carlisle 18-6.50x8 Turf Masters and am very happy with them. I did put them on a slightly wider wheel though as I converted to trailer hubs. Edited September 30, 2022 by 19richie66
