Next on the Waldo to do list is find a roll of fine grade plumbers sand paper or steal it from my brother. . I was surprised this morning , heated the sleeve in a few places and arm muscled the screw on the puller and it started moving. The sleeve was brown welded to the pulley until I dropped it. As a celebration I quit working on the mobile and messed around blowing leaves away from shed. Bonnet is now baking in the dry heat . elcamino/wheelhorse 9,297 #86 Posted November 4, 2022 Heated up the shed so I could put another coat of red on the hood. Started on other work not related to the mobile . Decided to tackle the hi/low and gear shift installed. Only took about an hour to get the @#$%^&*() roll pin installed. Sprayed the hood and back to the shifter about an hour on that beast ( hunting for the correct size allen wrench was not fun ) . elcamino/wheelhorse 9,297 #95 Posted December 1, 2022 It has been a while and once again the Waldomobile is kicking my butt. I got the new seal and pulley on the crankshaft. Still battling the shingles problems so there have been a lot of lost tractor workdays. Mounted the clutch plate etc and have been battling the bracket that holds the lever arm. This attaches to the block. Manual section shows 2 PTO 's for the years 1968-1972. Both show a part number 7661 for the bracket. That part does not work on an 8 hp Kohler. I have contacted a few members for help. After a dr appt today grabbed the camera and figured out that this bracket is WRONG. I have the lever arm off my ole man's Commando 800, so I assume it is the right one. I got another arm in a pile of parts that I picked up from a member. both arms are the same length. Put the PTO housing on the bearing sleeve and lever arm is 1/2 to 3/4 inches short of the bracket. Enjoy the pictures . If you need more pictures let me know. By the way I am not taking drive pulley off! One of the pictures show the set screw in the block. A set screw is mentioned in the instruction manual for the installation of the PTO. Update for the rest of you. The bracket that attaches to the block is a bit of a mystery. Instructions call for a 7661-part number. Wrong! K&B came up with a part number 101896, can't find a picture of it. Last week Pullstart asked a question about the bracket, then Skunky chimed in, along with others. Yesterday turned into a marathon PM day with Skunky. The waldomobile has been hibernating since December as Waldo took off for the Holidays and decided to paint some rooms in the house due to the lousy weather that went on way too long. Painting also included plaster repairs and replacing pieces of flooring, baseboard, and 1/4 round oak (don't ask the price I paid) I found another member with a Commando 800 (Waldomobile's cousin) who has agreed to send me pictures of his set up at a later date. Once we (that would be me and Sir Skunky) figure out the bracket got to install hood and running boards, then figure some other problem that will arise. elcamino/wheelhorse 9,297 #100 Posted April 9, 2023 So do I but I can't get it to fit. Part of the problem is the angle of the rod . If I align so the notch to the set screw the rod that attaches to the PTO bell does not line up . See below pictures. From end of bolt hole to end of notch 5/8 inch. Set screw measures approx 1/4 in od. Notch measures approx. 1/4 inch deep by 5/16 inch at its widest point. I will take pictures of rod , bell and other stuff later today or tomorrow after I remove clutch plate and sleeve. Where is my bunny helper? 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
