Wheelhorse#1 1,669 #1 Posted September 28, 2022 I have a k181 I’m rebuilding.Trying to remove the bearing plate. This one is stubborn as h@ll .I have tried heat.Tried pry bars, moving side to side wile pulling.Rubber hammer.Lubed it up last night and will try again when I get home. The shims are broken loose.I guess it’s holding onto the bearing and shaft. Ive done a couple and never ran into this problem. Can Anyone offer any tips,I know it doesn’t take much to crack the aluminum plate,trying to avoid that Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

peter lena 8,638 #4 Posted September 28, 2022 @Wheelhorse#1 in addition to a dissimilar metal penetrating oil soak , how about that rubber hammer or a soft dead blow , on either upper corner , left or right getting it to turn / slide on its mount ? would think its more effective without the breakage issue , might even use a wooden block as a strike point . no prying . pete 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Heat eventually did the trick.Took about half hr and a few cuss words but it finally broke loose.I don’t believe this engine has ever been molested before.
