TJ5208 1,824 #1 Posted September 28, 2022 What angle of pipe do i need to have to have a exhaust system like this.
JimSraj 430 #2 Posted September 28, 2022 The iron pipe looks like a 22-1/2 and a 90 plus the nipples to connect.

(comment removed) Also, it'll need a support bracket -- you cannot safely support that from the block only. Edited September 28, 2022 by Handy Don

JimSraj 430 #8 Posted September 28, 2022 That’s the 22-1/2 if I’m looking at it right. Looks like a 3” nipple out of the block, then the 22-1/2, then a 2” nipple into a 90 into another 3” nipple to the muffler. Agree on additional support.

twisted metal 49 #10 Posted September 28, 2022 Yes it's a 45 degree angle. They only make 45 and 90 degree threaded pipe fittings.

rmaynard 15,516 #12 Posted September 28, 2022 I've never understood why someone would want a stack on a garden tractor. 4
wallfish 17,014 #13 Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) This thread is confusing. Both the 22 1/2 thing and why anyone wants a stack. LoL The exhaust port coming out of the Kohler engine is at 45 deg, That pipe nipple exiting the exhaust port goes into a 45 deg fitting, Then to a 90 deg fitting to turn it straight up The angle the pic is taken might be at 22 1/2 deg Edited September 28, 2022 by wallfish
squonk 41,158 #14 Posted September 28, 2022 Yup 45° +45° =90° If you managed to find a 22 1/2 the pipe would come out at a funky angle towards the front corner of the hood.
Jeff-C175 7,202 #15 Posted September 28, 2022 Just for completeness sake, the pipe thread is 1" IPS. You can brace to frame as long as it's not a shaker plate.
953 nut 55,324 #16 Posted September 28, 2022 If you replace the 90 with a 1" X 1/2" X 1" black iron "T" and drill and tap a 1/2" pipe plug for 1/4-20 the brace can be put under the added weight. 5

If you want the stack a bit further back you could eliminate the short nipple and F X F 45 and use a 1" black iron Street 45 right off the engine.
