Pullstart 62,899 #1 Posted September 27, 2022 Saw this in town yesterday. I was at some traffic lights and was able to snap some pictures… Any thoughts to it’s purpose, other than loosing ratchet straps?
Pullstart 62,899 #2 Posted September 27, 2022 My first thoughts were one of these… but I don’t know if it would straddle a rail well…

The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #4 Posted September 27, 2022 (edited) It’s a homemade cart used to patrol tracks I’m guessing they go on abandoned tracks as active rails are dangerous to go on being main cargo lines Edited September 27, 2022 by The Freightliner Guy

The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #8 Posted September 27, 2022 Those are official rail speeders I believe the one Kevin saw is either one of the official ones with either the cab removed or a well built custom one with some real rail speeder parts or just good fabrication skills

edgro 677 #14 Posted September 27, 2022 I remember a ride on once at a museum. When we got to the end of line the guy shut off the engine, flipped the spark advance, and started it backwards, then back to the depot we went 2

If ya ain't ready to deal with those types of adversity ya shouldn't even climb aboard something like this. I'd LOVE to take one of these rail screamers out some of the old tracks in New England. Need a hefty powerplant and great traction though. 3
