Is there a way to make the mechanism for the idler tighter?

Hey guys. I’m getting to know this mower a lot better thanks to this forum. The metal part  that goes to an idler pulley that turns my mower deck belts looks like it’s a bit worn out and slides or angles to the outside of the mower a little too much. I think this is miss aligning the pulley and it could be better aligned.  Any ideas what thus part is called?  I might want to get that spring maybe a new one too but may be tighter

That looks like it could easily benefit from a brass bushing to tighten things up in there!    Most springs on these tractors can be obtained at an ACE or similar hardware store.  Just bring what you can to the store and look through their selection for options.

Oh.  I see yes that could be done.. the bushing. I think the metal part is worn out tho.   And maybe they make it and i could replace that?  Will do , on the ace hardwAre. Good idea!

You could try building it up and filing it back in, if you don’t have access to fabrication tools like welders, mills and grinders.  PC7 is super hard and easily workable.

That can be bushed to restore both worn parts.

Bore out the lever to a nice siding fit with a standard bushing OD.

Epoxy the bushing to the shaft.

@656_tractor  have a picture or reference to that arm to mount point ?  was thinking  about  a flange bearing conversion . set up has to be replaced anyway , break down function , would let you do a solid job . you can't do that pete
