Have a Voltage Regulator Question

I put this Magnum 8 in this Raider and I kept the fuel tank on the engine, so I decided to put the solenoid and regulator where the fuel tank was.

 

Didn't have a Mag switch , so I wired a toggle switch and push button switch in its place. 

 

There is the three wires from the engine and two are going to the regulator. Do I wire the two wires from the engine to the two white wires on the regulator, and run the orange wire to the positive side of the battery to charge it , I think  ??

You realize this has magneto ignition so no power required for ignition coil. You simply ground the ignition wire to shut it off. Any power = smoke.

 

The two white go to the flywheel AC stator if you have the 15 amp charging system in the engine.

The DC+ should go to the battery but be switched.

 

Post the spec number of the engine so we can determine for sure what charging system you have.

The Mag wire is going to toggle switch and the other side is going to ground.

Spec number M8S-301511 was used in the 308-8 models 1986-1988.

Has a split 3 amp charging system so no voltage regulator.

One of the AC leads has a diode in it at the chassis connector and this rectifies the charge current to charge the battery.

The other AC lead goes directly to the lights and nothing else. DC bulbs will run on AC current.

Why not use a 103991 ignition switch. Not expensive and easy to find.

Do not have a Mag switch at the moment, might get one later. 

 

Not going to put lights on this, I may leave it alone. It starts instantly, so not much draw on the battery.
