23 Reo 229 #1 Posted September 22, 2022 I have an older Tecumseh 10 hp that I would like to convert to electronic ignition. The engine number is HM 100 159 9120M SER 713SD. How would I do this and what specific parts would I need?

If you have an engine with points and you are looking to eliminate the points. This will do the trick. It is an electronic pick up designed to replace the points. https://www.amazon.com/ROP-Shop-Universal-Electronic-TRANSISTORIZED/dp/B06XK26H45/ref=asc_df_B06XK26H45/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198076851563&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=553492647973114816&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1028137&hvtargid=pla-349692599022&psc=1
ebinmaine 67,759 #4 Posted September 22, 2022 @Snoopy11 Just added electric ignition to his tech 12 @Ed Stoller isn't on Redsquare very often but he's been working on perfecting a kit for many years. I have one of his kits here that I'll likely be using on one of my OHV160 engines.

If you're trying to get rid of the points all together I would highly recommend calling Ed. I have his contact information here. If you send me a PM I'll get it to you. Another possible option would be to leave the points in there or install a new set but change over to the small module that is sold for the pulling engine crowd. I can't remember the name of it but it might come to me eventually. It replaces your condenser and it takes almost all the amperage away from the points.

Fairly inexpensive fix. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/99664-tecumseh-hh120-120045c-restoration/
