You mean the one that points up like this?

BAJA SYSTEM W/CHROME STINGER, dune buggy vw baja bug - Car Custom Online

I thought about going with something like that. BUT since this is a mowing machine... and it does go underneath tree branches etc... I didn't think that would be such a good idea... ;)

I know one thing... the RLV silencer tips that I bought aren't exactly cheap. $40+ a piece... so it better sound good...

Engine running with RLV silencer tips. Very throaty, deep sounding rumble with just a tinge of raspy to keep things aggressive. :banana-rock:

My phone's microphone doesn't do it justice, but here it is anyway... ;)

Sounds totally awesome in person. I am VERY happy with it. :D

Not many machines can have that old style dune buggy or vintage VW beatle look.

I was able to capture that with this machine. :)

As well, the machine runs great, I took it out for it's first real spin today since I disassembled. I'm still going to go back and tighten some things just for good measure.:banana-linedance:

@sjoemie himself... you were right, the seat is VERY comfortable. I am beginning to think that I am going to make reasons to have seat time on this machine... :hide:

Well, once I start a project, generally I dedicate myself to it... BUT you'd be surprised how little time I have had lately to work on this machine...

Today I got the mowing deck back on. Still waiting on 2 new idler pulleys to come so the mowing system is not done... just 'installed' :music-rockout:

100_2479.JPG.a7e05145c255c3feef2f7583f2c04b96.JPG

I also got it cleaned up some... it was starting to get pretty dusty in the garage with all the grinder and welding dust... :)

100_2484.JPG.72fff16b76e58c086128918921019308.JPG

I still need to paint the rims, grease everything on the machine, and retorque all the bolts on the machine. Obviously I still need to put the v-belt on along with the idler pulleys... :happy-bouncyyellow:

THEN I have to start working on the engine guard...

Hey guys,

So, I bought some sturdy steel tubing today. I bought 6 feet total.

I am going to do lot's of measurements and such... but I would appreciate if you guys would give some ideas and concepts for making the bumper...

I want it to look stellar, as you can imagine. Any/all ideas from you guys on design is welcome!!! @sjoemie himself... I know you do metal work... I'd appreciate you and the other guys input here!!!

Is pretty much what I was thinking too.

If you do welderup, make sure it won't be in the way of future service needs.

@Snoopy11 I think something like @Evguy posted would be my choice too.

@Jeff-C175 's point of advice is solid so you can reach stuff that needs service.

I want to add that it might be smart to make the bumper hug the rear of the frame and the back tires so that the risk of snagging something while turning is kept to a minimum.

Something like this..

Well, I did some measuring last night.

So... I think a bumper like @sjoemie himself is proposing would be really cool. The only obstacle that I really encounter is this:

The amount of space between where the bumper would be and where the rear tire is... is actually around 8 inches.

That is a LOT to snag on things... particularly when I am in tight quarters such as in the corner of the fence and such... THAT worries me... :eusa-think:
