    Plow trouble

While plowing today the spring popped off . I screwed it back on twice and the last time I had to go searching for it . I'm thinking of welding or brazing ,any thoughts ? I think the ends are cast or steel .
  3. 44" Snow blower . I want to straighten this guard but I don't know if the belt is supposed wind up in front or back of it . In the second picture the guard or guide is just on the other side of the pulley .
  4. Well we got the snow and halfway down the driveway the augers stopped turning . Well once before the belt came off , not this time . I can turn the auger but the impeller shaft doesn't move . Looking at the parts diagram there are keyways on both gears and I'm hoping one of them sheared off . Has anyone worked on one of these ? I could use some advice on the best way to go about this . I just spent two days with the 518 XI with a plow clearing enough to get out and have enough room for delivery trucks to turn around .

    Snow thrower

Is it possible to remove the augers without removing the auger shafts and gear box from the blower ? Now that I don't need the blower anymore I would like to paint the inside of the housing . This is a two stage on my 523dxi .
  8. 2 stage Mod. 79-366 I got the new auger bearings today and I don't know if I should pack them with grease . They look more like bushings to me . It would be nice if I could convert the setup to sealed ball bearings . Just a though .
  9. . Well I’m done motorizing my snow thrower except for a on - off switch, coming in the mail, just in time for 70 degree weather. There is a 10amp in line fuse and there is a disconnect for each motor and the power. I made this setup so it can be easily taken off and the original crank put back with just one clip. I think it looks a little crude compared to some of the setups on this site. I made it from items on hand around the shop. The box for the switches was to small to fit in the power switch so I’m going to mount it on top .( The white cap ) I still can't master the uploading of pictures . I gave up .
