The fuel Shutoff valve has been leaking for several years on my Electro 12. The valve gland was as tight as it could be but fuel leaked profusely around the valve stem. Recently, I read online where the Toro part #8023 valve is still available and matches the parts list for my Electro 12. This valve is very pricey at around $50. I found that I could purchase from sepw.com for $36 plus shipping. So, I buy one. This valve is what is referred to as a "panel mount" as it mounts in the hood stand-off sheet metal. The new Toro #8023 valve is NOT exactly like the leaking oem which was a disappointment. The new valve is packaged as three pieces: the valve body, the valve stem, and the nut to secure to the panel. The new valve has, what I believe, are design flaws. The gland nut would "bottom" on the valve body threads before compressing the o-ring stem seal inside. The length of male thread on the valve is much shorter than the oem valve. So when inserted in the panel hole, and the nut installed, there was about two threads exposed to thread the stem seal gland nut onto. The valve was returned for a full refund. I am posting this so others don't buy and find out the same things that I found. Toro needs to review the design of this valve and correct the design errors! If I can figure out how to attach pictures I will do so.
