For those of you that use the VA (specifically Indianapolis, but it’s my understanding this will soon be VA wide) be aware: They have gone to same day scheduling.
I called to make an appointment last week to see my primary primary care doc and was told she didn’t have any openings that day. I said: “I don’t want to come in today, I want to make an appointment.” To which I was told that’s not possible. Finally got the guy to set me an appointment.
Now heres the deal, for a lot of guys the same day scheduling is great, that means of you need to see the doc immediately you most likely will be able to. But what about people with transpo issues, child care, work, etc?
If you're one of those people like me who needs a set appointment to be able to plan accordingly, and can’t do same day scheduling heres your in:Tell them you have to be driven to your appointments because of lack of means. The operator at the VA told me that’s the only way to get a set appointment in advance.
I had my appointment set for 0700, the doc doesn’t even walk in the door until 0730, and the call center doesn’t start taking appointment calls until 0800 😒.
I would've liked to know that^ before choosing a 0630 blood draw.
Hope this saves someone else a headache and elevated BP. Semper Fi
