9 pointsI was always a garden/lawn tractor fan, used to collect Murray’s and now it seems I’m on the path to getting Wheel Horses. My first one I purchased from MikesHorseBarn, I bought one then 2 Saturdays ago and then Mike dropped off another one in my yard yesterday! The shiny overspray painted one had an engine that didn’t want to spark, I threw a Kohler Command on it just for the heck of it. The one Mike dropped off yesterday started after a couple tries and has really nice wheels and tires. The funny thing about this is it has been over 24 hours, the old lady has seen the “‘new” tractor but has yet to notice that it’s a different one, or she gives up keeping track. My son has claimed the Electro 12, it’s his now.

7 pointsHello everyone, wanted take 1st take a moment to thank everyone here who helped with my questions and to the vendors who supplied me with the all the items needed to complete this build. This is not a "correct" restoration, more of a "resto-mod" if you will. Its a combination of a B-80,C-125, and a C-100. All were bought for less than a $100 a piece and non were in working order. It literally took all 3 to build one working one for one reason or another. They were all gonna be scrapped, all were MP scores that were left on someone's property outside in the elements 15-20yrs. All same story, owner passed, family left with the cleanup. Had alot of fun, other than the linkage to mower deck, everything was taken apart, media blasted and repainted. I ran outta media the day i was blasting deck. I use a coal slag from TSC. Its hit or miss if they ever have any, guess nobody really uses it, IDK. I built the trailer hitch receiver from a 2nd engine stand i never use. I took pictures of entire build and would be happy to answer any questions. Everything works as it should, however im on the fence if I should push her into normal yard work, I currently have a 312-8,B80,308-8 that are all working that I use regularly. Only issue i have with current build is after i leveled deck, i can only raise it if i lower wheels to lowest setting or deck hits nub from piece that holds deck linkage to bottom of tractor.

6 pointsKeep Off the Grass Day is celebrated on April 21 every year. Created by a woman named Jace Shoemaker-Galloway, this holiday has been observed since 2013. “Keep off the grass” signs have often been used by people to prevent their lawns from being trampled on and to prevent trespassing. Grass has been maintained and used for decorative and protective purposes since the Middle Ages, especially in Europe where they featured around castles and wealthy homes. Today, many homes in America maintain lush lawns for decorative purposes.

6 pointsBoy if that don't sound like me Mainely ... don't get old!! It just never ends @Achto ... Just a couple of little guys tho. They were dead and in the way of landscaping for the yard art plow. I have no idea what kind of trees these were. Some kind of ash? Very stringy in the splitter and not a soft wood. Good for the fire pit tho. Next is a ugly locust that has to go.

5 pointsI don't know the exact dimensions of a tub cart but it's definitely smaller than 4ft x 8ft with the tongue. Wheels can be removed for height pretty easily if need be. Go Get It

4 pointsWell the wheel horse commando 8 is slowly but surely going back together I only started this project in December unfortunately time and other things have really slowed the project down but it’s going back together now and that’s all that matters. I have a complete forum titled “commando 8 restoration” but i don’t think many people are seeing it because of how long its been around and how inactive I have been on it so if you’d like go check that out but here’s some pictures

4 pointsI just got back from the F.I.R.S.T. Robotics world championship competition that were held in Houston last week. I volunteered as a robot inspector. Had a wonderful time interacting with the students while inspecting their robots. The local high school team I mentor fields 2 teams. Only the upperclass team qualified as one of the 600 teams in the world competition. We did OK, ending up ranked #3 out of the 75 teams in our division. We were the captain of the 3rd seated alliance in the 8 alliance double elimination playoff round. We ended up 4th in playoff rounds. Out of 3,690 teams world wide, we are ranked #62, #46 in the US, and #2 in the state of Mo.

4 pointsIt was supposedly a Raider 12, but no Raider 12 had an electric clutch and I don't think a 73 model 12 came with an electric clutch. I got such a good deal on a pair of them that I didn't ask questions lol

4 pointsWell I didn’t do it but my daughter and her husband did. My daughter sent me a text last night with an ad from the neighborhood I used to live in. This morning they went and got it. I guess I am the “new” owner of a 1988 520H. Couldn’t beat the price. Just need to make time to go get it.

3 pointsOut and about this afternoon strolling in the back yard and found five morel mushrooms. I included this in gardening because for the past few years, I've been "seeding" the by dumping the water I wash the morels in as well as their "roots" along my fence row. Whether this is why I have found morels for the past two years has any affect or not, I don't know. I didn't have my camera with me so didn't get a picture of them before I brought them to the house. Anyway, this is a nice mess for me because I'm the only one who eats them in my family. I might grab them electric bike and hit the rails to trails bike trail and see if I can find a few there.

3 pointsCould be elm. Fibers are very stringy and tangled. I always waited until the coldest days of winter to split it - seems to cleve easier with the logs frozen.

3 pointsOver here in England the loony tunes cartoons were pure magic. I watched them constantly, from wilee coyote and the road runner to bugs bunny and Elmer fudd. Acme co products were a mystery to us though, but I always wanted to see what wonderful equipment the coyote bought to try and snag the runner. Even in my 20s loony tunes were present. We used to go to a night club called Frontiers which was a proper 80s dance club. The first half of the evening was dancing, then a break while folk had a meal and the stage was prepared for a live show. Every tv screen in the club showed loony tunes cartoons during this break, no sound just the images of daffy duck et al. They were still funny in silence, but the music made them so much better and the voice of Mel Blanc made him the number one person I ever wanted to meet. Thank you America for the loony tune years. "Now go away boy, I say go away, you bother me. That boys about as sharp as a pound o wet liver!"

2 pointsFoot pedal ready to have reverse pedal and plate bolted on. Standard nuts are used for now but nyloc nuts will be used on the final assembly after paint. Reverse pedal and plate bolted on. Pedal installed onto tractor then the retainer is installed and tightened to hold pedal onto the shaft. Heim joint is bolted to the pedal plate and nut tightened. Note the 3 washers used to keep the heim joint free moving. Foot rest loosely sat into position then the foot pedal was pushed to full reverse. At this point the reverse pedal should sit just up a bit (1/4" or so) from the foot rest to ensure you get full reverse speed. If it is too high or it just hits the footrest then it's height can be adjusted by screwing the heim joint in or out on the rod as required. Fully tighten the heim joint to foot pedal plate each time to ensure an accurate measurement. Foot pedal in neutral position. Foot pedal in full forward position. Auto center spring. Spring hooked into auto center lever. Spring now gets hooked into the hoodstand plate where the hole was drilled earlier. Footrest bolted down. Control shaft heim joint jamb nut tightened.

2 pointsWhen I was using my smaller screen, I most definitely had to adjust my feed rate.....especially for putting things in the top hopper. Old dry branches were never much trouble, but anything green or damp would quickly cause clogging issues if you got too aggressive. I mentioned earlier that I deal with bamboo. Its technically not on my property, but that's because I am so aggressive about KEEPING on my neighbors property. The small screen was a no-go with the bamboo unless it was dry and brittle. Any hint of life in it would clog the small screen almost immediately. The big oval one I use now allows me to move an acceptable pace, no matter what I shove in there. Sometimes I will pick up shovel loads of already chipped stuff and drop it back in the hopper if I feel its too chunky, but most of the time its fine.

2 pointsTesting both ends before depinning, perfect fit and look identical. next to be certain that the pins are identical, and they are. I depinned the pins on the engine side and replaced them is they came out bad or were burnt. If the pins were good, they got reused. old and new one side done. The tractor side has less room, so taking a break for a moment.

2 pointsCase still has the blueprints, Kory went there to copy them, then spent a lot of time converting it to cad, before starting the actual build. There was one boiler remaining (in Arizona) that a farmer was using as a water tank, it was purchased and is now in Andover, SD. The serial number was taken from that original boiler and is now on the new 150. IMG_9423.mov

2 pointsIt's been said since the days of old that a hair covered horse is a herd animal... and it seems, so is a paint covered Horse. Well done. What's the model of the "new" one? I see a 60s PTO on a 70s hooded rig. Interesting. Addiction? What Addiction??? It's not like BBT and I have a dozen tractors or anything. .......... because it's more than that.........
-
2 pointsThe wheels themselves did not need any spacers however to get the seat to not rub on the top of the tires I stacked probably about a half inch of precision shims below the seat pan to get it to work temporarily but it did still rub on turns so for a more permanent solution you might need to raise your seat close to 2 inches depending on how much you weigh.

2 pointsHappy Easter, Everybody! No pictures due to the food coma, socializing, and the eight nieces and nephews doing an Easter egg hunt. Four opted out as they’re in High School but all had a good time.

2 pointsFor the past couple of hours I've been watching videos on make morel slurry. Pretty interesting and I'm going to make some as I have been pouring the water I wash them in whereas the slurry has other ingredients that may help it be more successful. One fellow's video "how to grow morels at home" looks like he has been really successful. I've got various species of oak trees, several rotting (17 years) stumps along a fence row which I hope will be a good place. I'm also going to try to "seed" the dedicated asparagus bed as someone suggested that would be a good spot. I could provide shade in the spring with netting if I see fit.
