Just a mini update as the going is a bit slow. Today was the first day in over a week where I warmed up the garage. I touched up the white on the dash. I will black out the rivets. The gas tank needed some loving. It cleaned up inside and out really nice. I had a cap, valve and bung in my stash. I won't install it until I decide where I'm putting the electric pump. The 23-10.50 rears aren't on the correct offset wheels for a Wheel Horse but they just made it.......as long as I don't use chains. The oil drain was a bit of an issue. It wanted to hit the steering rod. I got it piped out now. I've had the unwobbled engine base done a while now but wasn't certain it would fit right. It fit perfect and the engine is officially reinstalled now. I want to get a 1/2" longer nipple for the oil drain so no oil in it until I do that. The fuel pump will be blanked off. The muffler and other stuff on the front of the engine won't be done until I get the steering tower back on and the control cables connected. That's gotta wait until I can spray outside. I wanted to get it this far today so I can push it aside and bring in the 314-H Buyers Remorse in from the barn. Parts will be coming in for it the next few days.

Sword swallowers, a.k.a. those guys who pass long, pointy, sharp instruments through their mouths into their stomachs, often don’t get the same level of fame and respect as other entertainers. This holiday was specially created to recognize and appreciate sword swallowers while educating people about their contribution to the world. This day has another, higher purpose, too — it attempts to eradicate all myths surrounding sword swallowing and bring global attention to how the sword swallowing community has helped both medically and scientifically.

All I know if seeing the thread title has gotten me twice now. Like a free tractor!

Woke up, looked at the thermometer, said 15 degrees. Thought "It's a great day to paint !" The seat had a fair amount of pitting so that received the treatment of high build primer last weekend. Today I wet sanded it with 400grit to smooth it out as best as I could. The rims received 1 coat of self etching primer, 2 coats of enamel primer. After that all the pieces were finished with 3 coats of Case IH off white.

Worked on the barn some more today after pulling the kids around behind the B100 in a sled before the snow melts. I got all of the floor removed in the 1/3 of the barn that I have been working on. Next is getting the bolts and removing those 2x12's and the post. After that I will level the beams and start laying down the new floor in some of that area need to move at least the stack inside the barn so I can get the rest of the barn floor up. And found another plate this time 1932.

The "moving to here" date for Trina's Momma has been moved up to April 1st. We've spent all day organizing and moving things from the basement to the new workshop or the shed (which will be the woodworking shop). Started with shoveling snow to make & widen paths. We moved 3 engines. 1 transmission. 1 hydro pump. A 7 ft long x 30" transmission workbench. Several totes. Metal for projects. Wood for projects. Disassembly of things. Brought a slew of old boxes and trash out. More I can't even remember ..... I tried to carry in both directions whenever possible. I'm plumb tuckered and got a LOT done.

I sat and scanned through the rest of the Michael Martino book this morning. Straight from the Horses Mouth. Found this interesting little tidbit.

I SCORED! at my local hardware store today. Total price was under $50 (during the last day of their sale, 90% off!). The phone holder was $2.50, the 6 gallon water heater for my shop was $38, drill bits ranged from 35 cents to $2.50 for the big wood bit on the left. A buck for the broom handle. $1.49 for a qt of 30 wt for my push mower, plus an air filter & "Toro" spark plug. 50 cents for the jigsaw blades, $1.49 for the sink sprayer (for my shop sink with a clogged sprayer.)

Found another way to use the boom. Got it back on the wheels. Started put it back together. Still need to get the sheet metal painted.

I don't know what it is! What am I a genius? Nope it won't shine me bald head Google lens says that it is part of a Farrand organ, which makes sense with the leather and fine slot.

Replaced a bearing and started putting back together after paint. I ordered a new tension pulley but it’s like an inch bigger and won’t work. Was rubbing the belt wierd so in need to look for another. Original is back on for now. New belt also. Wheel horse 7434 I ordered from wheel horse parts vendor but I am thinking it has a different part number then the manual. The one they sent is too big.

I just submerged it in hot water and Dawn overnight. Then scrubbed and rinsed well. It really wasn't needed but I then lightly wiped it down with Mothers Back to Black.

I spoke with him back in November. He was back stateside, as of then. I hope things are well with him too!

HA, Look for the magic smoke and all of the black spots after you're done when troubleshooting the wiring issues! After all, Sparky is your name so no doubt you'll live up to that. LOL Bring a strap so I can tow you back to base camp at the Zag show!

Got some parts in today. Thanks Brian at K&B once again! Got 2 new LED taillights from him and the rubber for the floorboard. Just been too cold to work on the tractor. Going to warm up a bit this week so hopefully it will be almost finished. 🤞

I think my dad had one of those. He hit us with it when we got out of line, but I never saw it used for anything else.

Any of you guys changing out all of that crappie looking original hardware for the new stuff, save it all and give it to me! I'll get rid of it for ya. LOL A 1960s or 70s tractor can be completely disassembled without striping or breaking a single fastener, try that with the new stuff after only 10 years! That older hardware is much better quality.

@adsm08 Cashman’s (Ace) Hardware in East Berlin. It was their annual “yard sale.” I’m really surprised they were dumping Irwin drill bits. Even more surprised at the water heater. I looked at that very unit on their shelves last autumn and decided it was much too expensive for my needs.

Today was working 6:30-11 then doing some stuff around the House, I was also spitballing ideas about a modified mowing deck rear mounted bush hog and making a skidder out of some unused tractor parts with @ebinmaine.

They were firestones super old ones I bought them used about 10 years ago and they were probably twice that old they were really dry rotted, I have the original rear tires still for it but I'm putting tru-powers on it I actually plan on doing things with the tractor I have a wheel horse cultivator and a brinly plow I'd like to use

Looks EXCELLENT. What did you do for that? What cleaners? Paint? Etc?

I'm still working on this 1985 312-8 . I had changed out the narrow rims and add all new tires. Fxed the hood hinges and built new tierods. Here a few pictures of prgress. Washed twice trying to get some of the 39 years of dirt and grease off. Found the case and all the seals were leaking, some one had had it apart.

The tank is correct, with the original band. I should have taken new pictures of everything back in place. I’m tinkering with getting it to run better, currently. It drove on and off my trailer, but that’s about all it wants right now.

Ed, there were a bunch of other videos on YouTube that were totally disgusting. I wouldn't have wanted anyone to start their morning off watching them. The other commemorative day offerings for today either wouldn't pass the "Politics in America" test for Red Square or were rather obscure.

Thanks, @lynnmor After looking at the parts diagram again, I see the spring washer is UNDER the cam plate which is why I didn't see it. I'll flip the flats and check the Belleville washer to make sure it's good.

A Dorman 55818 can be used in place of the original sending unit.

It's slowly getting there, still waiting on the wheels to get back from powder coat and the starter generator is being rebuilt. The stainless pipe will be here tomorrow for the oil drain then the engine can go in.

On my 520-8 project: Got the transmission input shaft seal in (2nd attempt, destroyed the first seal )…installed fuel tank supports (still waiting on my fuel tank to be shipped).. carefully removed a wire harness from a “doner” tractor that originally had a Magnum 10 that I will blend with the 520’s Onan harness when I land the Kohler Magnum on it.

A couple of years ago I had one fail when the “potting” material separated from the metal housing and allowed moisture into the guts. @lynnmor's encouragement kept me from getting super frustrated! 😁

@Racinbob nice build up ! been using the CARBOLE MICRO ELECTRIC PUMPS FOR YEARS , using the low pressure 2-3.5 psi , also added a fuel check valve , vertically just before carb , so I can verify fuel to carb hold . have set up on 3 horses , been very solid . might even lay in a 5/16 steel brake line , inside of frame length , as fuel line , dramatically cutting down on fuel hose break down , debris . leaving only the short run to tank and carb , easily fitted . MOTHERS BACK TO BLACK , very good stuff . always experimenting with a change , for something , pete
