9 pointsWell we didn't get the snow we were supposed to get. We have a nice ice glazing that will hang around a few days and got a snow dusting. So decided to have some fun in the 5 degree temps and do some spin outs and figure eights!

8 pointsThis procedure is for the valves installed in 300, 400, and 500 series. May be others as well. This valve is from a 520HC Here is the valve ready for new O rings. You know the O rings are worn because it had a leak and the control rod is very easy to turn. Getting ready to remove the screw retaining the rod. Screw in end of rod removed. Rod pulled out. It came out really easy since the O rings offer no resistance because they are worn out. O rings removed using a brass pick to prevent damage to the rod. You can use any tool, just be careful not to scratch the shaft. New #111 Nitrile O rings ready to install (Viton would be better but Nitrile is what I have on hand). I also used 111 O ring lubricant which is basically silicone grease. O rings installed. O rings lubed with the 111 O ring lubricant. Rod inserted into valve body. This will take a bit of a push with the new O rings Screw installed into end of control rod. Valve is now complete and should no longer leak. I did not touch the pressure relief cap as I have never had one leak from there and don't want to mess with the relief setting.

5 pointsTo test the charging function of the S/G. Connect a multi-meter to the battery. Disconnect the field wire from the S/G and connect a jump wire to the field terminal. Start the engine, touch the open end of your jump wire to ground. You should hear the engine labor a little and you should see your battery voltage increase. If the above test gives you these results, then you have a bad connection or a bad regulator.

5 pointsPluto Day is celebrated annually on February 18 to commemorate the anniversary of the discovery of Pluto in 1930. The planet, known for its characteristic icy mountains and tiny size was discovered by American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh and, up until 2006, was considered one of the nine planets in the solar system together with Mercury, Venus, our current planet of Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Clyde discovered Pluto at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona just 84 years after the discovery of Neptune. The planet, which was named after the Roman god of the Underworld, was considered one of the nine planets in the solar system up until 2006. The International Astronomical Union reduced its status and tagged it a ‘dwarf’ planet due to not meeting the criteria to be considered a full-sized planet and being two-third of the size of the earth. It is believed that the first two letters in ‘Pluto’ were in honor of Percival Lowell whose belief that there were other planets beyond Neptune, helped fuel the drive that led to its discovery.

4 pointsIf a fellow doesn't take care of himself, no one else will do it for him. Pam and I have been conscious eating better and haven't had any soda pop in the house for several months. When we do eat out and drink is provided, soda pop, that we used to really enjoy, is about like drinking cough syrup. When mom got out of nursing home a year ago, she was using a walker. When she transferred back to assisted living, I suggested she get away from the walker. She is so happy she didn't become dependent upon the walker like 95% of the residents. I believe that a lot of health issues we are seeing are related to what we put in our mouths. Processed food ain't good.

4 pointsI'm pretty sure it's clinker. JimSraj just now answered it. When coal was burned, the impurities melted together and became a nuisance in the firebox so the fireman had to remove them. Apparently, some fireman or stoker as they were sometimes called, chucked this one out in the middle of nowhere and I found it along with a small mess of morels. Years ago nails, with numbers indicating the year of being put into service, were driven into the end of rail road ties. I pulled this one out while doing a job for a customer. It may be copper. I'm too lazy to run down to the train room to check. Weather man says we getting up to 16" of snow in our area. Whereas I don't have a blade or snow blower, I've invested in a big bottle of Aleve to help Pam's muscles that are bound to be sore time she gets the driveway cleaned with a shovel!

If you want quiet, Picnic table of knowledge, nice affordable restaurants and diners irate truck drivers who want to vacuum out their trucks, and a visit from the Sherriff to check on said irate trucker, stay in Scotland(Chambersburg) Just about the same distance from the show. 3 pointsThat 855 is def worth a look. The 857 as well, because even if the trans is shot it's not hard to swap in a 6-speed. I do love me an 855. The 855 and 857 will, mechanically, be pretty much identical units, just different model years. They are 3-speeds, but they are great tractors and I absolutely love mine, when I'm not waiting for parts for it. That is the biggest downside, is that when something breaks, and let's be honest, they are 60 years old, so its when, not if, something breaks nobody local has parts. They usually have to be ordered in, and it takes a few days.

3 pointsI've gotten drafted into helping a 5th grade Destination Imagination team. Wild on a completely different level! Today my grandson and I hit the hill for some sledding. Not nearly as spry as my younger days, but I did manage a few runs on the Flexible Flyer without breaking anything. Soreness will certainly ensue, however!

2 pointsSlipping out of gear is a symptom of wear from heavy use, poor maintenance, or grinding gears. If tilling is a goal, I’d opt to replace the three with a six instead of fixing the three. Not that fixing is especially hard, it isn’t, (and many folks here have surprised themselves with transaxle repairs) but you do get the crawling gears. I bought a 6-speed from A-to-Z and he took my three speed in trade against the price--you can always ask.

2 pointsdid the a remove and reinstall of master valve twice in past 2 yrs -- first on C175 Series 2, then on C175 Series 1 a few weeks ago - - absolute nightmare -- i still have the wounds on back of my hands to remove and put back in -- did the O ring replacement as well as new hoses -- hopefully never again !!!!UGH !!!

2 points@ebinmaine on my to and back from surgeries , had dr,s sign off on evaluation statis , that got me into physical theripes , and ways to gain and move on . my health service and related has visiting theripists , had 2 / 3 a week for months after , operations . showed you how , evaluated you , contacted the DR right there on the I PAD for back and forth . exchange , this is all based on your own progress . also went to a local physical therapy health care center . was not really changing till , my body flexability started coming in , gains were slow coming and difficult . was just at dr for 6 month check over , told me I was on track , and concentrate on small gains , get them into daily function , also suggested , brain related , otc , changes , also congratulated me on , graduating from colonoscopy school , been years now , history is good , i,m done . stay at it , pete

2 pointsHa ha, I'm not looking to have a little guy sitting in there. Some builders are using animatronic figures in their vehicle, operated by radio control. They look a bit clunky to my mind but whatever floats your boat. I carried on the control work today, making a gear lever and range selector lever. The gear lever is fixed but the range lever moves and will hopefully operate a microswitch to power up the electrical system via a solenoid switch.

2 pointsIt's for sure food. I have learned to cut out a lot of junk and dropped 40lbs in short order. Coffee in the morning a water all day. No sugar drinks. Even the sugar free causes you to want sugar more. It's gotten easier and easier and I don't really think about food. I stay busy and nibble instead. My sleep apnea is going to be gone if I lose a few more pounds.

2 pointsI just came back from my pulmonologist this morning. Along with my high blood pressure, high cholesterol, borderline pre-diabetic, and Afib, I have mild sleep apnea. All of the aforementioned maladies, other than the apnea, are being treated by my GP and cardiologist with prescription meds. Every time I go, and my BP is up, and my LDL is too high, my meds get increased. This has lead to increased weight gain. I am tired and feel like crap most of the time. So today, my pulmonologist suggested a new approach. A program called CoreLife. They do a comprehensive evaluation of why you are overweight, then provide evidence-based treatment which is drug-free. Going to start the program soon and will provide feedback. I'm told that Medicare pays for it.

2 pointsHeadlights and even a left side rear view mirror! $500 might be a respectable price. Visually(except for the seat) it looks OK and the plow, rear wheel weights, and chains add value (a mowing deck isn’t a value add in your situation). Current condition and what you can learn of its history of use and how it was maintained would be the deciding factors. It appears to be parked next to another tractor.

2 pointsBikers all night, not a problem, said "Picnic Table Of Knowledge" sounds interesting and as far as irate truckers my BIL was one for 25 years and my brother was for 22 years so been there done that on many occasions "Ain't Scared". So where can I find this "Picnic Table Of Knowledge" I'm always up for some enlightenment.

2 pointsRight now at 1:30 Monday afternoon we are getting hammered with wind after ten inches of snow then rain Sunday then five more inches of snow and high winds. Many power outages but luckily I still have power, you are probably getting much of the same. I've been doing good other than cabin fever .

2 pointsLots of time with the robotics team lately. As we build, and test sub systems, and combinations of sub systems, we learn more and discover that all is not working as well as we hoped that it would. In the past week or 10 days, we have investigated and modeled in CAD 3 major rearrangements of the robot, finally settling on one. The new arrangement required major redesigns of all of the sub systems. We've been at it tongs and hammers. The chassis redesign came in almost 10 pounds lighter than the original. The climbing system is now operating as we want it. Prototypes of the other systems are also operating well. Fabrication assembly and tuning of the new parts is underway. Initial estimates say we will be a few pounds over maximum weight. More redesigning is underway, but the changes are smaller. Time crunch is on, as our first competition is only 18 days away.
