Thank you for all the prayers today. My wife's spinal injection procedure went according to plan this morning and now that the local anesthesia has worn off she if pain free. Having been using a wheel chair and otherwise sedentary for a couple of months her legs are not steady. They don't want her to return to PT or exert herself until the doctor sees her in March so progress will be slow. She will try walking with a walker tomorrow. We will be quite a pair both being on walkers.

I often have to drag tools all over the place here, and it seems like multiple trips just always happen. I've been looking to make a cart with larger wheels so I can take it out in the yard. Of course my big toolbox is too stinking heavy to move around beyond the garage, so I needed something smaller. I got a horror fright gift card for Christmas, so I used it to get one of thier little carts. Found one that matches my big tool box. And yeah, I like orange... If I figure out a decent decal design, I'll make an orange wheel horse. Haters feel free to say something, but it will be my ugly tractor! So anyway I'm making a subframe that uses flat-free tires that are 9-10 inches in diameter. It will have wheel horse front spindles, but a smaller front axle and pull like a wagon. Got the front axle fabbed up today, and matched the camber so the spindles will work. Tomorrow I'll make the rest of the frame. Hopefully I'll be done with it in a day or two.

Too funny. If I ever make an orange one it will look nice. Definitely gonna have linen white. Kinda doubtful on the red accents... Went ahead and laid out the frame. Still gotta weld in the front pivot and back Wheel mounts.

In March of 2024 I decided it was time to become semi-retired so I could get caught up on projects that needed to get done around the home. This morning I mentioned to my significant other that I was glad it was Friday. Her response was it's Thursday I chuckled. She said you have a Doctors appointment tomorrow, oh yeah was my answer. Recently I was called to do 3 bathroom remodels in one home and two other bathrooms in two homes. The three in one home involves removing all the Extra Heavy Type cast iron vertical stacks and horizontal branch drains from the basement up through two floors into the attic to tie all the vents in, super involved. Not really any fun at all. One of them the rough plumbing is done the two other are getting ready for start up. All three have way too many stairs to even get close to the work areas. It's going to be quite a workout. Not looking forward to it but all three jobs are long time customers and I just can't say no sometimes. When i was full time I never forgot what day it was, now being away from it for 9/10 months I almost didn't care what day it was. Is this normal ? Thanks

Youngest grandson who I've mentioned a time or two is 6 1/2 years old. He is special needs and still wears diapers but can break wind almost at will--and does. He's in kindergarten and the teachers told Gibson that he isn't allowed to do that in class but only at home. My wife says she doesn't know why guys think that is so funny. I tell her it's because it's so sneaky. The other day one slipped out. When Pam gave me "the look." . I replied I thought I heard the trumpet of the Lord. I can see this thread getting plenty of air time

Being retired since October of 2019, I use the newspaper or my cell phone to tell what day of the week it is. I tell folks it's just another day that ends in Y, or why the hell not...

When replacing the fuel line I use a double barbed 1/4” fitting to push into the old line and the other end into the new one. Check to see if the old line is fastened anywhere, remove fasteners and then just pull the new line in while pulling out the old. Works like a charm and saves time trying to route the new line in.Glad to see you are saving that tractor. My C-175 was in similar condition last year at this time and after five months of on and off work it looks like this.

Today did a few things since we had a snow day. Brought the tractor out of its resting spot and pushed it in the middle of the garage. Then didn’t really like how the floor board on the belt side came out and painted that. Also stripped the stickers from the motion control plate and sanded that and painted that also. Then installed the belt guard and loosely installed the floorboard. Hope to have that whole right hand side of the tractor done this weekend.

I am, for the most part, an optimist. I try to avoid being pessimistic. I am however - 100% - a realist. The glass is full. Period. It's our task to understand what's in the glass and how best to use it.

The Optomist says the glass is half full, the Pessimist says it is half empty..... Years ago, I attended a Bachelor Party Dinner for our Purchasing Agent's 3rd walk down the aisle. (He was infamously known for his frugality, aka cheapness.) I was asked to speak a few words.... I held up a half full glass of beer and said " Some folks would say this glass is half full, others that it is half empty. Phil would say neither. I looked at Jerry the Machine Shop Manager and added - Jerry, Jerry, did you order that glass??? It is twice as big as it needs to be, I hope for your sake I got it wholesale!!! "

Some designs, there are some pictured in the search, have a rail that the chain set rides on. You load it all up chained tight with the skidder backed up a ways. When you pull forward, the chain rides up and lifts the log. Now if we could only figure out what size chain would stand up to a Wheel Horse…

At first I wondered if I should as if your going @ebinmaine on us Then you finish with the ugly Wheel Horse line. Now we all know there’s no such thing an ugly Wheel Horse to this crowd. Just be kind and use some Regal Red and Linen White accents so the poor horse doesn’t get too confused.

Well, these rescued Suburban parts were mine for short time, but I am delighted to see them loaded up and headed off to a home with @Bill G who's anxious to put them to good use! (Note, he brought usable front wheels/tires to swap on instead of the rotted out originals so we could more easily roll it into his van.)

My last K181 was the spark-advance version and it would occasionally stop in the hard spot and it would just slip the belt, so I'd get my steel toes int here and give the pulley on the other side a nudge to get her moving. Thankfully when that one left this life Brian hooked me up with a low-hours compression relief version. The starting characteristics are different, but I much prefer it.

Today, I stayed warm, and did some grocery shopping, Then, did some plowing. I’ve got an early shift at work tomorrow morning. The old 308 did it again.

That happened to my Mother at 97 years of age. My middle sister found her on the kitchen floor right near the side door. They think she was there for 2 days. She went in the Hospital then Hospice and celebrated her 97 th and passed a few days later. GREAT IDEA Jim

I think Mike is referring to the keeper bolt threaded into the spindle axle. No nut involved. Yes, if you are tightening the bolt and it “freezes” the wheel, something is not aligned or spaced correctly. Loctite’s role is to make an already tight mechanical connection stay tight. it will NOT hold a bolt that is still loose in the threaded axle. So, we need pictures and measurements. My instinct is that your front wheels' bushings or bearings combined with any washers on the axle on both sides are making the wheel too wide to fit under the bolt head with its smaller washer which fits only between the bolt head and the end of the axle.

Wow indeed, @wallfish! I’ve been to exactly TWO in-person concerts--Peter, Paul, and Mary at a fairly small venue in Stamford, CT, and Simon & Garfunkel at Madison Square Garden in NYC. I was invited to join a couple of friends going to Woodstock the summer after my HS senior year. Not being that into music, I didn’t think I’d enjoy it and declined. Still don’t know if that was a good or bad decision!

Okay so I know the GT series was Wheel horses attempt to have a less expensive tractor. I guess when it came to wiring they took a lesson form Henry Ford...You can have whatever color you like...so long as it is black. #gwest_ca has done a magnificent job colorizing many wiring diagrams. GT-1848 would be easy...all black and skinny almost feel like 18 ga but I guess it is 16ga.. If this tractor works out she may get a complete rewire in Living color. I am not going all in till I get the opportunity top get her really hot and see about the hydro She had a red WH filter. Also guess the PO didn't own a grease gun. Steering sector was bone dry and zerk was encased in dry dirt.

Haven't been to very many concerts. Beach Boys in the mid '80's. Platters came to the Philippines in the '90's and we had really good seats for that one. A few years ago the Beach Boys again but several younger guys and not quite the same as the first one. Years ago I used to go to bluegrass festivals. The best time was had away from the stage out around the campers where just pure acoustic bluegrass was played. Every Friday at a campground way down in southwest Missouri a local bluegrass band is featured--can be good or mediocre--but still better than I can play. I haven't thought of several of the bands mentioned in the thread in many a year.

That's fine for some. As far as HOME shop stuff. .... I never WANT a day off. I wish I could be here 7 days a week.

perhaps a wellness check by local police would be in order...? We had a neighbor a few years back spend a couple days on the floor after a fall unbeknownst to anyone... ultimately passed away...
