12 pointsWell, these rescued Suburban parts were mine for short time, but I am delighted to see them loaded up and headed off to a home with @Bill G who's anxious to put them to good use! (Note, he brought usable front wheels/tires to swap on instead of the rotted out originals so we could more easily roll it into his van.)

11 pointsThank you for all the prayers today. My wife's spinal injection procedure went according to plan this morning and now that the local anesthesia has worn off she if pain free. Having been using a wheel chair and otherwise sedentary for a couple of months her legs are not steady. They don't want her to return to PT or exert herself until the doctor sees her in March so progress will be slow. She will try walking with a walker tomorrow. We will be quite a pair both being on walkers.

11 pointsMy wife has a pinched nerve in her spine due to a herniated disc which has made walking nearly imposable for almost two months. We have been going through the Medicare hoops of Physical Therapy, pain management, and injections which have not been effective. Wednesday morning, she will have an injection into the disc which is supposed to relive the pain and allow her to walk without pain. Please say a little prayer for the medical staff and my wife, Maggie, that the procedure will go well and have the desired outcome. Thanks, Dick Schmidt, 953 nut

Farting is generally considered inappropriate and a violation of the concept of etiquette, but did you know that farting has led to full-on fights and battles in history? The Greek historian Herodotus revealed that one man’s fart led to the downfall of King Apries of Egypt in 569 B.C. When a mutiny arose within his army, Apries sent General Amasis to quell it. Instead, the rebels crowned Amasis king, causing Apries to send his advisor, Patarbemis, next. Amasis’ response was a fart which he told Patarbemis to deliver to Apries. More than a little offended upon receiving this news, Apries ordered Patarbemis’ nose and ears to be chopped off, the final straw that pushed the masses to dethrone him in a mob, reinforcing Amasis’ reign. Talking about farts leading to major conflicts, according to “The Jewish War” written by Josephus, during a Passover celebration in 44 B.C., a Roman soldier exposed his naked backside, farted, and spoke some inappropriate words to a group of Jews, who reacted by stoning all the soldiers in sight. The soldiers called back up, and before long, a riot had broken, leading to the death of 10,000 people, mostly Jews. Bernard Clemmens of London holds the Guinness World Record for the longest butt burp at two minutes, 42 seconds. We simply love fun and quirky holidays. National Fart Day has been observed on February 5 since 2008, as the day to stop suppressing accumulated gas and just relax. Let one rip, today, you are free to fart and be unapologetic about it. Depending on how potent your farts are, you may want to warn others beforehand though. Play a gag, fart gags and jokes will never get old. Do the classic whoopie cushion joke on an unsuspecting target, or make jokes and punchlines about farting. On a serious note, National Fart Day is a good opportunity to learn about your digestion. Discover how healthy your farting is or if it is signifying an underlying problem.

5 pointsWithout the scientific calculations, I know if you put a big lifted S10 blazer more under the mud bog than above it, and YANK hard enough to pull the back bumper off with a heavier truck, it’s going to eventually snap a 3/8” chain. We’re talking about a log that I could physically move here. I just don’t see where the actual argument is. Either the tractor will move it, or it won’t. If the chain breaks, I’ll supply the next one free of charge.

4 pointsSpent a couple hours at the auction this AM. Picked up the park bench and about 50 lbs. of files, drift set, machinist blocks, mill and drill bits and some sports card stuff. Total price= $10.60. Then went to the grocery store and bought 3 bags. Total price = $98.37.

3 pointsMedicare is great most of the time, but there are times when they are a pain in the butt. Wishing your wife good luck with the procedure. I hope it gives her some relief, but if it doesn't you will have to get her doctor to appeal the Medicare decision to get her the proper surgery. Make enough noise and they will relent.

3 pointsGot the parts! And they look awesome. Got them done at New England Chrome plating in East Hartford CT. Amazing people and just an awesome place. Highly recommend them whenever you need some shiny parts on your tractors! Going to install them soon. I hope to have the tractor completed by my birthday on March 4th a month from today. I think it’s doable since there’s really not much left to do besides the hood and wire in the headlights and taillights the rest is just putting parts on.

The chain was tested by suspending the entire Mackinac Bridge from it before I trusted it for the ... however, that was a static, not dynamic, test... so I will leave it to the experts @Handy Don @ebinmaine @Ed Kennell to calculate that variable...

2 pointsHmmm.... IF you load it by flipping the hitch drawbar up and the have to lever it down onto the ball, there is a potential to have it get away from you , suddeny go vertical due to the weight of the log, & clock you in the face..... Most folks would only do that once.....

2 pointsThis slop in the axle is common and that I is one reason I used a bolt instead of a pin. After assembly with the all the washers I could fit in I could tighten the bolt to eliminate all the front to rear slop. I tighten the bolt with the nylock nut just enough to eliminate all fore to aft movement but still allow the axle to pivot freely. Like Don stated it is important to get a bolt that is log enough that there are no threads in the axle. No need to worry about the washers wearing. Grease the face of the washers and the bolt and if the axle does loosen up over time, you now can easily tighten the bolt or replace a washer. If you grease the washer faces and the axle zerk fitting you will find the bolt does not move in the frame. The axle only rotates on the bolt. The reason the tab is broken on all the tractors is because the axle zerks were never greased and the axle rusted fast to the pin causing the pin to rotate in the frame wearing the holes in the thin frame after breaking the tab. If the holes in the axle supports are worn badly, you must also repair those. I have repaired some of these by welding a block with a predrilled hole over the worn hole. This new bolt is used to position and hold the blocks iin the correct position during welding.

2 pointsSorry, I'm afraid some of the pictures have been deleted and a lot of the things I did have been lost in my fading memory. I think the front axle bolt was a standard hex head bole and a nylon lock nut. I may have altered the head and cut the length to fit. For the upper steering shaft bearing, I think I welded in a plate to support a 3/4" flanged spherical bearing. I'm not sure if I did it on this one,but Being unable to remove steering wheels without damaging them, I have cut the shafts below the support and put them back together with a shaft sleeve coupling after during the bearing upgrade.

2 pointsThere was not a WH 3 point made to fit any of you tractors. Only the. gT14 and D series has 3 point hitches available. There are some threads on here where people have made their own. I’ve also seen the Sears/craftsman 3 poin hitches retrofitted to. WH tractors. But be advised the Sears 3 point hitch has different dimensions and only works with Sears implements.

2 pointsEnjoying my Walnut sticky bun and coffee this AM when this guy sailed over the house and landed about 200 yds away in the field. He fed on something for about 15 minutes before leaving. This is one of the largest eagles I have seen.

2 pointsSo, some where between 600 and 11,000 lbs. I'm a Lab test guy so next time I have the 520H out I'll chain it to a 24" red oak and give it a jerk. The 520 with cab and dually is probably well over 1000 lbs. I have a 3/8" chain I used to jerk out twelve 70 yo spruce stumps with my 5,000 lb F-150. BTW, I use pieces of old fire hose on the chain to protect the trees and the tail gate. When felling trees, I often use a 3/8" cable ****** blocked to the base of a tree so the pulling truck is in a safe location. The 3/8" chain should break at 6600 lbs.

Get 2, no 3 more 's for your herd, hook them all up on separate chains, assess if you have room for even more 's, add as needed or to taste, hook them up separately too... have a "haul day" and invite everyone to drive your haul tractors... no problem... @ebinmaine is good for at least a dozen C-160's... bet he's got rated chain too...

1 pointI often have to drag tools all over the place here, and it seems like multiple trips just always happen. I've been looking to make a cart with larger wheels so I can take it out in the yard. Of course my big toolbox is too stinking heavy to move around beyond the garage, so I needed something smaller. I got a horror fright gift card for Christmas, so I used it to get one of thier little carts. Found one that matches my big tool box. And yeah, I like orange... If I figure out a decent decal design, I'll make an orange wheel horse. Haters feel free to say something, but it will be my ugly tractor! So anyway I'm making a subframe that uses flat-free tires that are 9-10 inches in diameter. It will have wheel horse front spindles, but a smaller front axle and pull like a wagon. Got the front axle fabbed up today, and matched the camber so the spindles will work. Tomorrow I'll make the rest of the frame. Hopefully I'll be done with it in a day or two.

1 pointThere are reasons why engines are not assembled with RTV in the first place. Difficulty disassembling is one. Squeeze out in the inside breaking off can affect in eternal oil circulation by blocking passageways or other critical places.

1 pointI dropped my wife at the airport yesterday and rolled the C101 into her spot in the garage. I’ve got 6 day to work on it and a small Honey-do list. I had previously jumped the solenoid and coil to prove it would run for a few minutes. Smoked on startup but seemed there was hope. So on to a large maintenance/neglect list. The PTO pulley was rusted tight to the clutch disc. Got it off and need to clean up the pro face to see how bad the pitting is Pulled the head to decarbon, measure bore and Ck if valves need to be lapped. The carbon pattern on the top of the piston shows theirs some blow by in the clean oily area. But maybe something to live with. The PO sad the engine was bored 0.10 over about -0 years ago and had now sat unused after he bought a zero turn to mow faster. The cylinder bore does still show some hone marks. I’ll measure bore to see what it really is. I put some penetrating fluid around the intake valve and it held it for 4 hours last night this morning about half had seep through. So not bad for a quasi valve Ck. Put the rear on jack stands and pulled rear wheels. Replacing the jury rigged clutch spring is on the list. The brake pad is loose and needs regaled or replaced Thankfully the brake hub came of nicely for cleaning and to replace the leaking seal behind it. While I was under it I inspected the transmission mounting plate and no sign of cracks. Crud build behind the Input Pulley tells me it also needs a new seal. Stated soaking the Allen set screw for removal. The right hub was loose and seal leaking. It slid off easily and thankfully the keyway in the hub and axle are ok. Ran a tap through both hubs bolt holes to clean them up. The left hub is tight and the seal doesn’t appear to be leaking. I’ll just check the torque on its set bolt and leave that seal for another day. Thankfully I have all the parts in hand except for a new starter solenoid that should be here today. That’s most of the disassembly, so on to some clean up work.

1 pointHad a Toyota Corolla in college that I had to swap in a steering column. Did not have the key so i removed the outer key slot and a stubby screwdriver would turn the inner ignition slot. Always knew there was a use for stubby drivers.
