Today would have been @JimD,s 75th birthday, he was taken from us much too soon. Jim served as a moderator on Red Square and always shared his sense of humor. for several years Jim would find unusual photos and post them with the title "Caption this" to bring out the humorous side of others. You are missed Jim.

These are some presents I bought for myself this Christmas. I had already bought this 416 and have it in my mother-in-law's car port. I wrapped it up to protect it and it sort of looks like a giant Christmas present. These are on a promotion with almost 30% knocked off the price so I bought one. I have a few large reciprocating saws but this is my first one handed model. It came as a tool only but I already have the batteries and blades here. My wife and I basically do not buy gifts for each other any more so we can just get what we want.

Front spindles ready to install. I punched out some Teflon washers to hopefully work as a thrust bearing to make steering easier. These are 3/4x1-3/8" Left spindle installed. I ended up using a 1/16" thick teflon washer. Right spindle installed. I ended up using a 1/16" thick teflon washer on this one as well. Both spindles installed.

For those Whitetail fanatics check this site out on You Tube. This is in Brownville Maine an area I snowmobiled in from 1995-2005 . A trail goes around this area that never seemed to bother the deer much. We usually make a trip up to this area in August to fish. The 2 camps I owned were 40 minutes just South of here. We lost one of our dogs in September. I've not been handling it to well. My wife got this statue at the thrift store she works at. Didn't come with the bench. The day after she got the statue the bench showed up. They were made for each other. A coat of poly on the bench and it will go on our porch.

I made this pendant for Mrs W as a Christmas gift. Two part, press together Titanium frame holding a pearl disc on one side and an ivory disc on the other. I got typical old guy gifts lol, socks, pants, pyjamas that kind of essential stuff. I did order a miniature powered screwdriver set but it hasn't arrived yet.

Mine is the M12 version and needs the bigger battery but still very handy.

When I am working on a machine I much prefer being able to look at teal paper manual rather than trying to operate a not so smart phone with greasy hands...

Wife keeps saying I should just save it to the computer.

Finally got my wig-wag lights setup the way I wanted. The LED bulbs respond a lot better to the flashers and are brighter. I had orange film in the front light to try and tint the white bulbs, but they were just too bright to get the look I wanted using the film. The ones in this video are actual amber LEDs (no film) and look better than I expected.

Nine priceless gifts showed up Christmas Eve.

Few month's back I was working on a project. Was using my wife's Dremel and it died. A couple month's later I was using her oscillating tool and it died. So she got a new Dremel and ocsillating tool. (So I can use them!) My floor jack I bought in 1977 died last month. got a Horror Fright gift card so I will be getting an al you minnie mum one.

I have most of the owners and parts manuals for all of my tractors and implements printed out. However, I rarely use these as I have a computer in the garage and have all the manuals saved on it as well. This manual contains some of the drawings for parts that I have fabricated.

Honda's don't break. Seats aren't as comfortable as the GMC but have enough adjustments on the DS to make it dooable. Do wish it had about 4" more legroom and a foot more bed. But these Ridgelines will go 3-400 thousand easy if you change the timing belt every hundred and keep the rust at bay. I got this with 133.000 on it and the belt and water pump were changed. GMC had the same mileage 2 years newer and the frame rotted. Ridgelines have quite the following. Plus I have an independent shop close by that specialize in Toyota's and Honda's and his customers love these.

Been working on the organization and movement of the basement workshop to the new workshop space. Today I completely undid and redid my selection of paper manuals. I've had the BBT print a few here and had several Redsquare members send me older paper copies. I now have everything neatly divided into several general binders. As in the picture: 1. A Yost Vise manual. 2. General Wheelhorse info we've printed or had mailed here. 3. Original Wheelhorse tractor manuals or sales pieces. 4. Twin cylinder Kohler manuals. 5. Single cylinder Kohler manuals.

Nice. Thanks for posting. Here in SWVA it is now illegal to supplement feed deer because of cwd has been found in deer 40 miles or so away. What about the other animals that we have been supplementing their food from Jan- March? Turkey, bear, racoon, squirrel, rabbits and birds? This just seems like an interesting issue that we all and different states control differently. Good thing we can solve our tractor issues by consulting with others.

Last week one of our techs put a horn in an F-150. When he was done a ton of warning lights were on in the dash, all for stuff he didn't go anywhere near. Oil pressure warnings, engine over-temp warnings, the blind-spot monitoring system had all the warning messages up, etc. He was getting worked up, so I stepped in to take a look and calm him down and it was clear to me it was a network problem. I ended up looking at it because I'm the only one that does network things. An hour later I determined the problem was the radio.

Interesting how the biologist of different states manage the wildlife. In Pa. it is illegal for anyone to feed any wildlife with up to $500 in fines. The concern is baiting a large number of animals into a food source is increasing the risk of transferring contagious diseases. I see this in the Delaware and Maryland female crab laws. Delaware allows harvesting any female crab that has spawned one time because their biologists claim female crab can only spawn one time. Maryland does not allow any female crab to be harvested as they assume they can continue to spawn multiple times. Is it biology or politics ?

Well more progress is being made. The lift handle was locked up and the lift bar for the mower deck and other attachments was being held up with bale wire. So soaked that for a couple days and some hammer tapping got it freed up and attached the lift cable back to the arm and it's working normal. Also the rig has a sleeve hitch in the back which was an added bonus. I tested the fuel pump and it is working and looks to be the original metal one. Another bonus! So next thing I want to do is clean around the engine and flywheel thoroughly and remove the head to clean the carbon off and do a valve job. So the M16 started fighting back at this point. The phillips screw in the pic is not wanting to come off. It has a wrench tube under it and I have wrenched on that and both at the same time and it is not moving. I am afraid to go any harder for fear of damaging the head. So I'm going to drill it out and use an extractor tool and then replace with a bolt. Next issue is the starter is working but it is not retracting back. And the first thing I have never encountered is needing to remove the oil dipstick tube to remove the starter! I don't see another way around it but if there is please let me know. Otherwise this will have to wait till I can get it rolling to clean it off before removing so debris doesn't get in. But the rigs moving a long...

So that’s why no more problems with the “sun gear”… The heavy duty replacement part is made by Harley Davidson !

@Bar Nuthin, @ebinmaine , thank you for that ! recently have been adding a tempered response to my replies , referring to improving original intent , realise that many do not see any need , or intension to change anything on their horse ,most of my changes are not seen , but the function is much better , having them over 40 years , and talking about smooth / easy running / functioning , trouble spots , the majority of horse set up was good , but the bros were very cheap , in anything that was an added cost or time , on production line . often said , paint it red or black , you will not see it , but it sure does work without issues , isn't that what you want ? regularly look at intensional function , for improvement , basically , washers / spacing / lubrication change , its just how I look / see anything , great seeing the kids yesterday , like the exchange , keep it smooth , pete

I had the same thing with my 94 Silver a Doo. The sun gear breaks out of the reaction shell. Replacement is a HD version.

I run a 1998 Chevy K1500 Z71 Silverado. 280,000 on the clock. Had a sun gear or something like that replaced in the transmission somewhere around the 100,000 mile mark… not sure. Transmission guy said a common problem with that year as the gear was made out of cheap metal or plastic ( not sure which) He replaced with an aftermarket gear made with a higher quality metal and assured me that I would have no more problems with that. Just made a trip from Monroe NC to Cowen WV and avg 16.9 mpg at mostly 80 mph. Libby keeps saying I need a newer truck… no thank you. And besides now that people have bought up most of the square bodies, they are now going nuts over the era of Chevys and GMC that my ‘98 is in. I have heard that the 5.7 liter Vortecs in it are real reliable, although plagued by pesty rear main seal oil leaks. For now I can live with that.

We have a Toyota household I guess. 2011 Tacoma, 2014 Tundra, 2012 Rav4. But even the once exceptional Tacomas now are having massive problems with new (2020 and newer) engines. The new Tundras just are not the same either. Not to mention both my trucks were built in Texas- but now they are moving production to Mexico. All I can hope for is that my vehicles last the rest of my life. I don't want anything newer.

No need to drain my M12. Use the dip stick on the outside of the tube to measure the oil level.

Also do a hand plane on the head while it's off. Time consuming... and worth it. I've never done one but I've heard that's a possibility. @953 nut @Ed Kennell

Got some news. Dropped off some parts at chrome dipping place on Monday. Wait is at least a month so we now have some time to spare. Also today received some parts from @76c12091520h! Thanks again Brian! Got in NOS never opened hub center caps for the front. NOS hood latches and NOS hardware for the mid attach o matic.

I gotta admit that I like the back up camera on my RAM, for the last 5ft when I'm hooking up to a trailer. Other than that, I rarely look at it. It sucks to think that a d@*n camera can shut the whole rig down. Then again, even with old tech. A $.25 part can essentially bring your car to a halt. If you doubt that statement? Let me pull the core out of your valve stem or cut a wire that could easily be fixed with a butt connector. Both easy fixes, if you happen to have the correct part in your pocket. NOT that I'm a huge fan of electronics, just saying that a simple part can screw up your day as well. Electronics are a wonderful thing!! WHEN they work.

Looks like 63 had the round depressed knobs. Or they were replaced. 64 had them for sure Course they look right at home on a 551 Suburban!

I used Teflon because I had some here. Nylon would likely work as well. I would have stacked two Teflon washers so they could slide on each other but there was not enough clearance. The forward swept 520 uses a roller thrust bearing and they steer real nice, even the ones without gear reduction.

@stevasaurus found it ! this is the way you remove deck pulleys / spindles , note pictures for leverage . bolt points under pulleys , penetrating oil , pulleys lift right off, off , also regularly refer to spindle bearings , those 6203 / similar are also a very common ceiling bearing , with pathetic light duty grease , the spindle whyining is telling you of lube failure , regular for me to , carefully remove side shields , wipe out / flush with carb cleaner , re pack with lucas green xtra HD chassis grease , also do the same on mule drive bearings , tell me how that works . if you look at the top of deck to pulley side picture , you will see a flat idler pulley up against the very long unsupported deck drive belt , not belt bounce , using this set up for years , bombproof , went after every stage , and made it better , 2 wonder bars on top of spindle deck mount bolts , snug fit on both leverage wonder bar swing outward solid leverage , put inside of W/B edge up against the pulley down slide area . pulley lift off is solid smooth , this entire set up was a look / see , for me , once verified , added steps to every related bearing failure area , 12 bearings alone on mule drive , this works , pete

2011 Honda Ridgeline RTL

I got my C-125 running today! Maybe 4-5 years ago I went to start her after it snowed and she'd turn over but wouldn't fire so I had to shovel my 200ft driveway by hand. Later that week I tried a few things to see what was wrong but never figured it out. At the time we had an infant, a 1 year old, and a 3 year old plus a pre-teen and I always had other priorities and never got around to looking at it until last weekend. Cleaned out a mouse nest from the engine cover. Drained the tank and fuel lines, cleaned out the carb, adjusted the points, new spark plug and battery, new engine oil and transmission oil. After all that still nothing. Spark, but she wouldn't fire up. Bought a new condenser and after that could get her to fire up and idle but if I'd go past 1/2 throttle she'd shake violently. I must have cleaned & adjusted the points 5 times before finally buying a new set. I had a few minutes to put on the new points today and that was apparently the problem because she immediately fired up and she purrs like a kitten again! We don't get a lot of snow here in Cincinnati, but I just have a feeling that we're due for a good snowfall this year so I REALLY wanted to have my Wheel Horse back!
