13 pointsHi all, Thank you for your prayers and good wishes over the last few weeks. I got my biopsy results today and it's clear of cancer! Nothing to do now but monitor my PSA levels in the future. Definitely dodged a bullet there, I was building myself up to face the music so I feel drained now but immensely relieved. When you look at the possible outcomes of actually having prostate cancer it's pretty grim. From hormone therapy growing you a set of new breasts to looking forward to a pump up penis I'm pretty glad things came back nil....even though a set of breasts may have been novel for a while lol. Back to the old routine now, cleaning, tidying, mending things, mending more things, building my Landrover. But oh so much better than being in the cancer patient club. Cheers guys, Red Square helps with most anything xxx

9 pointshad my dr sign me off yesterday , very happy to see my hip progress, resume driving , late next week ,start therapy soon , really listening to my body , sleep , activity , hydration wise , my regular daily naps are a knock out , initial sense , getting tired , and react to it . dr , vital for body normality , my sleeps are like a knock out ,drinking a lot of water , recently had my first shower , hip scar is clean / clear , scabbing is very minimal . dr emphasised too many people fight recovery with a macho / tough attitude , that also does not help you out mentally or physically . also my home therapy people are spot on , lots of back / forth , on every detail , the exchange is terrific , already have my hospital therapy set up , thru dr office , next week , walking stairs , outside , ATRINITY home care , dr is so satisfied with it , making it a regular part of all of his work . kicking my own butt , pete

7 pointsI remember the "Kerosun heaters" back in the day. Smelly things. I worked with a guy who had a rusty Chevy van and he had one of them inside to help keep it warm. He traveled the NYS Thruway to get to work and he got looks from the toll booth operators when he pulled up and the inside of the van was glowing!

6 pointsI quit drinking alcoholic beverages forty years ag but am glad @stevasaurus isn't going to have to break the law to get his favorite brew. When I was drinking beer I would try any old brand to see if it was better than what I was accustomed to buying. Since my last name is Schmidt I had to try All I can say is I thought of changing my name so I wouldn't associated wit that brand.

5 pointsI have a 55,000 BTU unit I use with diesel. Don't use off road diesel the die will clogs up the fuel jets. You may need to adjust the air fuel mixture but once it is set properly it burns pretty clean with minimum odor.

My step-grandfather, a Slovak immigrant, really liked it and whenever he visited from Whiting, IN he’d put several cases in the trunk of Grandma’s car to bring home. We kids thought beer was beer--why haul it across the country?

4 pointsBudweiser, from the Chicago area, can give me a headache...but if you go down to St. Louis it is excellent and all down there love it. My favorite beer story...back when I was a Lineman for MaBell, we were climbing all the telephone poles and lowering our cable so Cable TV could come behind us and place their stuff. The people who lived in these towns were very glad to see us...meant their Cable TV would be real soon. If these people were home they loved to come out and talk with us. I remember one day, it was at the end of the shift and it was a 100 degree day in the summer. Guy comes out to talk and asks us if we would like a beer. My partner and I always figured "The costomer is always right." We said sure and followed him towards his garage. He hands each of us a warm Hamms...it was hot and it was the worst beer I ever had, but we said "Thanks" and when done we headed on our merry way. The rub was, we had a water cooler full of ice and cold Miller Drafts on the truck. My father-in-law turned me onto a German Bier called Dab. "A little Dab will do ya", and it is available here. My favorite though is Kilian's Red Draft...Irish Lagar. These are both excellent (in my opinion) and I highly recommend giving them a shot. Favorite saying..."Don't fruit the beer !!"

4 pointsI used to get replacement regulator/rectifiers from a company called Milford Power, but switched to Amazon. Prices are cheaper, shipping is faster, and returns if necessary are easier. I know that many of the products are not made in the U.S., but many of the OEM products that we buy today come from offshore sources as well. On a side note, many years ago there was a member of RedSquare who attempted an autopsy on a regulator/rectifier. He was quite meticulous, had a lot of pictures, notes, and diagrams, but he never finished his work. But what info he provided, proved to me that the amount of hours you would have to put into dissecting, sourcing parts, and reassembling a regulator/rectifier was just not worth it. Before he even got down to the component level, I had purchased another and moved on.

3 pointsThe other day my favorite auto parts store had WIX filters on sale, Paid $9 and change each for a couple of 51410s. Made in USA and wrapped in sealed plastic, I would have gotten more but that was all they had in stock.

3 pointsLast winter I ran a torpedo heater with pump diesel to heat the garage I was working in. The heater had been adjusted to use diesel and, except for 30 seconds at initial fire up, there was relatively little smell. It put out 80,000 BTU according to its label and my only complaint was it had no thermostat so I had to manually cycle it.

3 pointsI've been playing around with a parts list for the piston to piston sundstrand. I'm not a good typist and I have a attention span of a nat,so still a work in progress. Trying to get good part#s and were to purchase still have a lot to do but what do you think of a complete overhaul kit.

3 pointsBack in the day ('60s) when I drank beer when I wasn't even thirsty, Yuengling along with Schmidts, Iron City, Old Export, Old German and Rolling Rock was one of the cheap, low price and low quality, beer available in SC Pa. Then in 1987 Yuengling introduced the Lager and got on the craft beer band wagon. Now if you walk in any Pa watering hole and ask for a lager, You get a Yuengling.

3 pointsSteering shim washers and cotter pin ready to install. Shim washers are of varying thicknesses. Cotter pin is 3/16x1" (Manual calls for 3/16x1-1/4 but I don't think it needs to be that long). Steering shim washer and cotter pin installed. For now I just have one of the thicker washers installed and cotter pin is just slid in without being bent until I have steering system complete and can verify the gear lash is correct.

3 pointsI may be a little unconventional here but I'd rather locate a good used one. Or even better, NOS. My experience shows me that many of the 40 to 60 year old parts are of superior quality to the modern (often imported) replacements. I like Norman as a person but I rarely buy from him even though he's right here in Southern Maine. The pricing is unfortunately not competitive. Also, we do have our own vendors here on Redsquare. I highly recommend K & B Horse Parts, Brian Badman. @76c12091520h

3 pointsThis sort of reminds of Coors back in the early 70s... it was only available west of the Mississippi. So naturally everyone in the East wanted it.. I was stationed at Ft Campbell KY and drove a 69 Pontiac Catalina tank. So a buddy and I headed out one weekend for Tinker AF base in Oklahoma City. Bought 25 cases of Coors filled the trunk and part of the back seat. Driving back was in Tennessee when I got a flat on I-40. Spare was up over the real axle. Had to stack about 10-15 cases on the side of the interstate whilst we changed the tire ...got a lot waves honks and an occasional "You need any help"

3 pointsMy son go a used hot tub. So his brother and I got taped to help load it on the trailer. We disconnected my 4x8 trailer and had rolled it to the far side of their back patio. Everything went smoothly with quite a bit of grunting. My triple does no what to think about have something on it besides a tractor☺️ My wife (Nanny). Stayed home and I found her rocking our new 4 week old grandson when I got home. He’s #7, 5 boys and 2 girls ages newborn to 8.

2 pointsI have the same exact heater, I’ve had it for years and only ever ran on-road diesel in it. It smells a little bit on start up but then it goes away. I don’t think there’s any way to adjust it for different fuels? At the end of the winter I just make sure I run it out of fuel. It’s not my main source of heat for my garage, I only use it when it’s really cold to help take the chill off and then the LP gas heater can maintain the temperature.

2 pointsAll the 16hp C-series used the 90-1140 hydro and the hydraulic lift shows as being standard equipment on all. The smaller hp hydros used the 90-1136 and the hydraulic lift shows as being optional.

2 pointsDiesel and kerosene are the same thing, more or less. They have more in common with each other than say regular 87 Octane and E-85 anyway. Highway diesel has a lower sulfur content. Off-road diesel, to my knowledge, is not held to the same sulfur content standards as highway, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are all the same anymore so only one batch has to be made. Same way years ago some states started requiring bittering agents in coolant and the manufacturers realized it was cheaper to just make it all that way. Not sure why the red dye in off-road would cause issues, but I also run my torpedo about an hour a year, so I don't really know. Anyway, if it runs on kerosene it will run on diesel. It will run on a lot of other things too, but some cause issues. And some cause explosions. Around me K1 is cheaper than diesel, but we have high fuel taxes and lower demand for kerosene.

2 pointsJust a good regular maintenance practice to disconnect and reconnect all connectors several times to clean and reestablish good contact. Many of these connectors are dissimilar metals that corrode quickly. This was the case in a new Jeep Wagoneer that I bought many years ago. It had a habit of just shutting down usually when I was rolling down the 4 lane at 70MPH. Quite exciting when you lose power to the brakes and steering. I found the problem by jiggling the connector, cut it out and never had a problem again. About 6 months later I received a recall from Jeep to remove the connector.

2 pointsthe speed of this project is off the scale A few more pics.... A bit of work with some thick bar and a press and I made an axle - paint will hide the grind marks and joints.... Tie rods to make this weekend, and then it will roll. I've an engine coming soon too!

2 pointsBe sure the regulator you are buying is compatible with your tractor. Later model Magnum Kohlers have the regulator mounted in the engine fan shroud and are cooled by the flywheel fan. They will NOT work with the K Series engines which require a regulator with much larger cooling fins.

2 pointsThe C-160 is a battery ignition, not a magneto. There is a stator (alternator) under the flywheel that produces 35 to 40 volts AC when the engine is running. It goes to the regulator/rectifier to be converted to DC voltage to charge the battery. All tests need to be done with the battery installed as the battery is part of the electrical system. As has been previously stated, be sure all of your grounds are good, battery to engine/frame, rectifier to frame. A charged battery should read about 12.5 volts. When running at full throttle, the voltage across the battery should be +/- 13.5 to 14.5 volts DC. My opinion is that you may have a bad regulator/rectifier. On the other hand, a bad/weak battery will also give you the same problems. This is a cleaned up diagram of a 1975 C-160 battery charging only.
