11 pointsI guess RedSquare is an adult now! You all have done an amazing job keeping this going, can’t thank you enough! Happy Birthday you ole’ forum!

10 pointsTrina has done it again! The 2025 RedSquare calendar is available for download!
-
8 pointsIf it wasn't for RedSquare, I would not have all these great friends. Happy Birthday RedSquare and thank you Karl and Mike for carrying on that little high school project that @whchris started in 2006.
-
7 pointsStill wating for all my leafs to come down so I can get them all up at one time. I usually get my leafs up around Thanksgiven. I did get the blower mounted today so I'm 2 weeks ahead
-
7 pointsJust a reminder, the Big Wheel Horse Show in Pa. is Wheel Horse only. No other brand of tractors or parts are allowed on the grounds.
-
6 pointsHappy Birthday RedSquare! Without all you fine folks with great advice, I’d have an empty barn and money in my pocket!
-
6 pointsBuilt one for my FIL a couple years ago. I don’t have pics with the hoses attached. Bin is from an old Kubota system to make dumps easy. He picked up 10 loads today with it. Gotta move the hoses around one of these days, move them to the center so the hose flexes less- but so far it works great. The vacuum works off the PTO as well. His only complaint has been hitting the hitch with his knee when not using the bagger. It’s all held on with a Reese hitch, so one pin and it drops off, but he tends to leave it on year round.
-
5 pointsYes, many thanks to you and your staff Karl for keeping this site on the correct path. You will probably never know how much we value the circle of friends that you have created for us all. I know as I spend less time in the shop and more time in the recliner, being able to chat with my friends and maybe help a bit at times with parts and advice is great therapy for this old timer.

4 pointsI put the 308 to work today pushing back a woodpile. Definitely needs a solid link and a counter weight/loaded tires and possibly AG or something grippier. The turf savers were iffy traction wise. Overall it worked pretty well. Better than doing it by hand.

4 pointsyou should put a few inches on for mulch over winter. What the worms don’t turn into compost will help keep the soil moist and slowly turn to compost and feed the soil just pull aside the leaves to plant your plants. No need to till. If you keep 6-8” of mulch on your garden all year, you can plant without tilling. After a few years the soil will be so rich and loose you can dig it easily with your hands. google Ruth Stout method or back to Eden method. I have been doing it for a few years, though I had to take a break the last 5 years, as I was on the road constantly.
-
4 pointsHere's my system. A little labor intensive, but I run the leaves through the chipper/vac and spread as mulch on my garden where they get plowed under in the spring.

3 pointsCan confirm, I've done that myself. Also make sure the mounting surface of the valve cover is clean and flat. You may need to bend it back into shape, or replace it completely if it's too bad.
-
3 pointsDoing some house chores today getting ready for some friends to come camping this weekend. Thanks for the holder @19richie66!
-
3 pointsI have to agree with other comments, I've met a lot of great friends thru the forum, gained a lot of knowledge, and just overall had a fine experience because of all your hard work, Mike and Karl. Thanks for all you do for this gang of guys. Happy Borned on Day,

3 pointsBrake bracket ready to install. Brake bracket installed.

3 pointsTasked Morgan, the 14-8, with leaf cleanup duty today. Did a bit of leaf collection with him yesterday, but had to quit early due to an empty gas can and a broken weld on a cross brace in the leaf sweeper. Got gas on the way back from walking the dog, and welded the brace back on the sweeper. An afternoon of lawn sweep toing and leaf burning ensued. About 3/4 done with leaf disposal for this year. Supposed to rain tomorrow, then be dry for the weekend. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish up leaf disposal for this year.

2 pointsFor the past 5 or 6 years, I've been putting together a model train layout in the basement. I hardly look at it during the summer but once it becomes jacket weather I'll begin thinking about spending time downstairs. I made a mountain range a couple of years ago and have been wanting a stream. I started on the stream today. I'm extending the mountains to the valley below and going to attempt to get a semblance of one of the small rivers we saw while on a cruise to Alaska this past October. The woven cardboard provides a foundation for the paper and plaster material. The stream won't have water. There are several ways to "make" fake water. I leaning towards the toilet paper water. The second picture is my inspiration for my stream. I'm leaning towards a trestle bridge something like we saw in Alaska.
-
2 pointsNope. Now you have a machine that will last another 30 years. Try that with one of those big box mowers. Your tractor likely listed for upwards of $4,000.00 when new, and that was in the mid-80s. I’ve had about 16 or so Wheel Horses, now down to about 7. Makes me wonder how much I’ve spent collectively on my herd… Nah, I don’t really care. I’ll never get it back, and I’m good with that.
-
2 points@adsm08 That sounds like a great hunt camp! We don’t have any hunting traditions here, except my uncle and his buddy show up later than I’d like them to, they get out of their blinds earlier than I’d hope for, and his buddy generally buys breakfast at the local greasy spoon around 11 am as a thanks for allowing them to the field every year. They will hunt like that a few days to a week, and when they are finished coming out is usually when I shoot something Honestly, I believe the problem neighbor that I’ve dealt with for the past handful of years had been poaching so long, I will be amazed how the hunt improves since he passed away this summer.
-
2 pointsGood grief Kevin, it looks like you are overrun. I'm pulling the boy from school a little early tomorrow and my dad and I are taking him out to our camp out west for the weekend. Dad took a ~200 lb 8 point last week out there. Hoping the boy can get his first deer. I'm planning to do some turkey hunting.
-
2 pointsWell, you might need some wheel weights. And a camera on front to see what you're plowing.
-
2 pointsThe price of the paint is the deal breaker ???? Not the fact that it's like 8 feet in every direction??
-
2 pointsWould be a nice mod but the price of red paint for that much surface area makes it impractical.
-
2 pointsLook at it this way. You could have done better but you could have done a lot worse too. Go see if you can find a brand new excellent quality garden tractor right now. They no longer exist. All the money that you have put into that 312 is honestly, negligible. It's just maintenance items. So you've got $1,200 into a tractor that you couldn't replace for five times that or a lot more. I'd call it a win. Did you learn anything? Even better. Did you enjoy what you did? Even better. Is it a tractor that's going to give you a lifetime of service? You bet it is.
-
2 pointsHey, @ebinmaine scale up and mod Wheel Horse decals to a an old IH tractor big enough to push that then you have a “Clydesdale”😁

2 points@ebinmaine Kinda the same thing here but more natural. The fairly high winds lately, and no big trees dropping them close to my house, cleaned what was there off well.

2 pointsI know generators and some other things are fixed throttle but I still cringe when I hear a cold engine start up and immediately go full throttle. I use straight 30w all year in my K-Series and Magnum, 10w30 in the pressurized Command. My garage seldom gets below freezing. I'll run at low rpm for a few minutes then at whatever the job dictates. Full throttle for PTO driven attachments with some exceptions. My sickle bar mower is one of those. I've never worried about running a splash engine at low throttle. There's still plenty of air movement and do the math on how many times that little dipper slings oil around per second. No problem. Here's what I do for cargo and addition weight. Both go into Lowells receivers. The box on the 76 is mounted on a ATV winch mount and fairly light. The box on the 05 was never intended for this use but converted later. It has a 2" solid bar and is heavy making it harder to mount/dismount but can hold pretty much unlimited weight.
-
2 pointsSame here, but to the pasture. I got lucky with this place that the amount of leaves is so small that I don’t have to get them up anymore. My FILs home is much like where I lived previously, with multiple giant willow oak trees in his yard. They cover two acres in ankle-deep leaves in the fall. Way too much to mulch. They have to be picked up.
-
2 pointsThat A-90 may be a mutt Jim. It has part of a front attach-a-matic , no mid mount, and a mule drive that isn't using the front attach-a-matic.
-
2 pointsSmall wonder where the Ponds got their Senior idea from. Yes we all know about the Shaw/Speedex/Pond feud.
-
2 pointsWe till in the first 3 of 4 loads between mine and the neighbor's garden, then they go to the curb for collection and hauled to a compost site. My bag holds 38 cu ft (285 gallon) of mulched leaves, so that's about the max we can till in.
-
2 pointsIm in Florida so usually never below 25⁰ long, i use 10w40 year round, once an engine catches, choke off, half throttle until i get where I need to be then wide open. I like to remind people about air cooled generators, they start cold, full throttle instantly and run full throttle for days if needed...never seem to mind one but

2 pointsThe Big Show is the weekend after Father's Day near Chambersburg PA. For 2025 that will be 6 19 to 21, 2025. Here are a few threads about the Big Show. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q="big show"&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy

2 pointsCouple more 48" mower deck spindles cleaned and painted with new bearings installed. With @Steve Janninck.

2 pointsAssembled the front Tach and hood pivot assembly All parts laid out ready to assemble. Installed the latch lock assembly. Greased the latch pin then installed the front Tach latch Installed the hood stop pin. This is a different design that I came up with that uses a 1/4" rod inside 3/8 tubing with a cotter pin in the center to hold everything in place. The factory design has the hood pivots hit the cotter pins when tilted open. Installed the hood pivot brackets and pin assembly. The pivot brackets were badly worn so nuts were welded on then drilled out to provide a nice tight hinge action. Front Tach lock shaft grip installed. Front Tach decal installed.
