hello all, here we have a roached out 312-8. giving it to a friend. i changed the axle seals as they were leaking. installed a new shifter boot. the gear oil was rusty. drained that. filled the tranny with kerosene and drove around the neighborhood. drained the kerosene and filled with fresh gear oil. changed the engine oil. greased the machine, including the nearly dry pto bearing. air filter was ok. new fuel line and filter front to back. had to replace the left footboard as it was crumbling (very rusty) with a better one from my stash. installed a draw bar from my stash too. not pretty but with a deck i have he should be good to go for mowing next year. regards mike

Quick pictorial update. We've been working on organizing, adding shelves and pegboard, but mostly on getting the ends of the new workshop space closed in. Just having most of the air leaks closed off has made the difference in being able to heat the new space. We put a small electric heater in there to break the chill this past weekend and it worked great. Once we finish the small layer of ceiling insulation and get the big Fisher wood stove out there, we will be all set for the winter.

I’m not sure if this qualifies for Side Shot Saturday or Front End Friday so I’m either late or really early! I had to move some tractors around to get out my Peco trailer vacuum for the upcoming leaf harvest, so I figured I’d snap a few pictures! I left them like this for a while so I could walk in the backyard every so often and just look at them😂 When my wife sees me doing this she just shakes her head, and can’t believe she’s been married to this weirdo for over thirty years!!

hello all, the seat mount cracked on my SIL's 414-8. no surprise they all do eventually. welded and ground the cracks. then fabbed some brackets which go on top of the seat mounts. should never have a problem again.

Day 15: (Well really Friday Saturday Monday and today (Tuesday) Got the fenders for one last time primed (Friday) and now Tuesday we gave it a quick light sanding and painted them red! Fenders are now complete just have to put stickers on it and the rear lights. Got the front rims sanded and cleaned on Friday and first coat of paint on. Today (Tuesday) got the front rims painted antique white let them sit for probaly 3 minutes went back to look at they were all cracked! My dad said the spots we didn’t get rid of all the power coating the paint got underneath it and lifted it all up. So going to let the rims sit out in the sun for a few days then sand where they cracked and hopefully paint them once again for all. Also since it’s now started to get cold and getting dark really early moved some stuff around in the garage and bought Mr.Kellys tractor inside of the garage. IMG_9430.mov IMG_9429.mov

Mary Rose is absolutely stunning! Archeology is hard enough on dry land, but to excavate a site under water and recover things that are 437 years old and so fragile is beyond belief. The museum itself is a marvel of engineering, to think they planned so far into the future. Raising her was only the start of it. Conserving and then displaying her to the standard they have is astonishing. There were a fair few American accents around and a guy we saw was obviously ex Navy and very proud of his experience over here while serving. Went on a harbour tour and saw HMS Queen Elizabeth, one of our new carriers. Jeez it's big! Then completely by chance the arctic survey ship Sir David Attenborough was in port. This is the one that they asked the public to name, the power if the Internet saw the stupid name Boaty McBoatface voted for. Thankfully the owners declined and gave it a roper name instead. Tomorrow it is the submarine museum and the museum of Naval explosions! Yay...

Papal disposition would be required for such an egregious act. Or would that be PayPal?

The one and only offshore carb I bought was for a 10 HP but listed for 10 to 16 HP. It ran but wouldn't idle down and baulked on throttle-up. It had the 26mm throat which was correct for the 10 to 12 HP but when I opened it up I saw the main jet was much larger which would have been on the 14 to 16 HP engine. That thing was never going to work well on either one as shipped. I changed out the main jet and needle from the old Carter as well as replacing the plastic float and all went well.

@oliver2-44 the auction just closed out today. I won it for 150! Can’t wait to go pick it up! Its my first round hood. Not exactly the prettiest but I think it will clean up nicely.

sadly, there is this hoodstand design shortcoming in these horses -- i have used large washers for reinforcement for those with minor emerging cracks - others have been welded if repairable --- and others I went the full fix by installing fabricated overlay brackets -- i actually had the brackets produced ( thanks to copies from Bill D. ) by a local fabricator/welder shop and he put the design specs/images on his computer software so in future i can just have new added units made by him. Took them home then painted and installed - - have some temporary screws in for alignment - but will work well after tunnel plate is installed.

I restored the Work Horse (I bought new in 1984) and the C-175, but the LSE is 100% original. I just wax them occasionally. Thanks for asking!

Yeah sadly to some folks this is just a piece of junk to cut up and scrap. And I quote " Forgive them father for they know not what they do" Good luck with it.

Ya know. You'd think a guy like @WHX?? that has a BUNCH of Wheelhorses would have a parts dept. (Don't mind the mess while we move our workshops and parts storage)

I had a few people that weren't able to follow the drawing for Magneto ignition and pulled it from that thread. I have redone it and will add it to the end of the post.

I can’t say whether or not he is a modern equivalent to Tesla or Edison or the like because I wasn’t around back then. My kids think I was, but nope. But it’s a bit difficult to name very many in my lifetime that represents so much technical innovation. Whether he had direct input or not, he certainly provided an outlet for someone’s imagination. Not trying to be dismissive @squonk but rather adding another perspective here. This forum is as close as I get to social media. That said I’ve seen what my wife and kids pointed out from twitter. Hard to say something that awful was ruined by anything other than shutting it down completely. Given the amount of censorship forced into everything these days, it’s easy to see why many would welcome a little free speech here and there, and easy to see how those who fear such things will despise it. Of course from a military standpoint, the power over dissemination of information is paramount to controlling a civilization… Attempting to control what a free society consumes in the media and believes to be acceptable isn’t social media, it’s social engineering. Right or wrong, I prefer to decide for myself. We are all guaranteed that right in this country. In short many have played in the road plenty. Some just refuse to do it while wearing a blindfold.

I’m not trying to be offensive, but it’s very hard to understand what’s going on without punctuation here. I’ve read it a couple times and have found myself back to square one. Hopefully the manuals help!

Well, I put myself at about 99% done with the dismantling. The remaining 1%? The *bleeping* roll pin on the lift lever! I drowned it with two other penetrating oils yesterday and let it sit overnight, torched it, but no movement with the pin punch. I had the idea of using a tie rod puller and a small cap screw to push it out, but the arms of the puller started to bend under high pressure so I gave up on this. I'm not sure if I'll get a cheap air hammer from Harbor Freight and try this route, throw in the towel and see if there's a local shop that might be able to remove the demon or just let it be and do my best to paint with it in place - a decision for tomorrow. My wife and I just moved into a small cabin the mountains of North Carolina and I don't currently have a garage, barn or shed... current state in my "fancy" Coleman Canopy workshop.

It is now. I was just looking for "Little Darlin" and the rest turned out to be a bonus. Little side note. While in the NAVY the ship's entertainment system was located in the ET Shop and we had four channels, one was always on a country radio station when we were in port, one played a popular (what we now call oldies, this was 1964 - 68) music, One was connected to a turntable and we would stack up the LPs that people brought in and the fourth was a reel to reel for guys like Jim @WHX?? that had pirated some good stuff. A bit of a squabble ensued between people who didn't like one country station and wanted the other country station, back and forth they went. Got rather tired of all the constant, play this one, no, play that one. I tied all four stations to the turn table, loaded it up with Barbra Streisand LPs, locked the door and left the ship! Next time people complained I just threatened to give them the Streisand treatment again and they calmed down.

@953 nut Hey Richard, your post #5...is that your "Play List" ?? Great songs keep playing after "Little Darlin" ". Back in my Navy days, 4 of us chipped in and bought the "Old & Heavy Gold collection that was for sale in the early 70's. This collection had songs for 1955 - 1971. We made reel to reels of the music for all of us...collection amounted to 7-90 minute reels recorded on both side at 3 3/4 rpms. Great listening !!!

Actually, back in those days, they often used a generic recording studio band to highlight a group's song. The 5 guys is the actual group. Sometimes, they would just use the singer of the group without the rest of the singer's band to make a record. This is why a lot of groups in the 60's went to their own recording studios and record labels. Plus, the studio bands were not getting any of the recognition or the money they thought they deserved. Getting DJ's to play these record labels is another story as a lot of them were affiliated with the bigger recording companies. Possibly DJ's like Dick Biondi from Chicago's WLS.

I've watched this several times from the different angles that are out there and I’m I awe every time. That thing is huge and they are balancing and moving using thrusters. Some mighty slick programming being done in that shop.

Not sure what you are trying to do. If leveling a lawn it's best to till it first, your not doing to move much hard dirt. Wheel Horse tiller or walk behind. As has been all ready said crushed stone can get hard. I have crusher run stone on my drive it get as hard as pavement. Here is what I used on my drive. I also made a longer clevis hitch and it work much better than the WH clevis hitch with this implement. I built this one, it's a Pulverizer larger ones are used to plant grass with three point tractors. The wench is used not because I couldn't lift it, but it's heavy enough that made it almost imposable to press down the release. The release on manual lift 300, 400, and 500 doesn't go straight down it has a small radius. This post doesn't say anything about "Down Pressure". Just showing something that works.

Having a great time in Portsmouth. HMS Victory is outstanding, cannot believe she fought in the American war of independence as well as Trafalgar and many others. I can't imagine the hell on earth that the gun decks would be during battle. The noise, smoke, blood and sheer terror is hard for us all to understand. The different types of shot shown here makes your hair stand on end; ball, grape, cannister, bar and chain shot, all designed to damage rigging or ships timbers, but also capable of tearing a man into pieces. The place where Lord Nelson died on the lower deck of Victory, shot by a sniper from only 15 yards away. He knew he was beyond hope as soon as he was hit, but clung on until the battle was won. I was very touched standing here, such a great man and the saviour of a nation. Tomorrow it's the Mary Rose, Henry the eigths favourite ship.

We are currently in our Mo. location. I've been playing brick layer on and off this week. Today is a milestone day. I've topped out the north column on our long running porch project. 2 more columns to go. About 120 bricks. Then it will be on to building a decorative beam between the top of the columns and the bottom of the roof, installing the porch ceiling, soffit, and facia boards.

Although it might be early unfortunately I put tractors away for winter. Fuel drained, batteries removed, etc. Just got too much going on with work & my elderly parents needing more help. Once leaves really start to accumulate I'll take mower deck off 654 & install plow. I'll mow with Troy Bilt 33 walk behind- it mulches. Winter project is my dad's Bultaco motorcycle in pics. He bought it new in 1970 when he came home from Vietnam. Hasn't run in bout 35yrs however it was properly stored in his basement. Should be easy to get running & only will need a few small things cosmetically. My goal is to have it completed by spring time. I'd like my dad to be able to ride it one last time.

That blower fan must run rather fast. Some time back a few people relater the story of their fans blowing apart from spinning too fast. Mine has the same pulley that was used when it was used in the Heat/AC duct and works fine. I need to paint mine so it will look pretty like yours.
