My wife also had the three chicken grease injections about 5 years ago. The first two did help a bit, but she suffered some worrisome side affects after the third one. She woke up at first light, flapped her arms and ----a doodled. They must have run out of hen grease.

Another unseasonably warm day after a day of solid rain yesterday. So I made the most of it with a walk along the local canal to a little village called Elsecar (pronounced elsie car). This was a village built to house mine workers at the local coal mines or pits which in the old days belonged to that same Fitzwilliam family who owned most things around here as the major landowners and coal owner. This is a Newcomen beam engine, steam powered water pump to raise water out of the deep mine workings. It was built in the late 1700's by the earl so that coal could be got from deeper underground. It ran continuously until 1923 when it was retired to make way for electric pumps. One of your guys, Henry Ford?, came over here for a look see and asked to buy the beam engine so he could take it back home to the states as a museum piece. He even gave the Earl a blank cheque, but was politely refused. It is the oldest steam engine in the world still in its original place. The buildings behind are mine cottages to house workers at the nearby pit, you can also see a winding wheel to the right of the beam engine and that was an emergency shaft to access the mine workings if the main shafts were blocked by fire etc. We always thought our industrial history was not worth bothering with, but really it's such an important part of how Britain became great.

I couldn't say no to this one. A gemtleman asked me at a show last week if I wanted a yellow massey ferguson and I knew immediately what he was talking about. So I dropped by today and made a deal! Came with a 3pt hitch and attachments! I have no idea how the 3pt hitch goes together so I'll have to figure that out. This one is definitely gonna get restored though! It's sat for a looooong time however, bit the engine is free. And to get in a horse, I took the c-161 along to drag it on the trailer lol

I did consider grease Lynn, but Greasy Pete @peter lena wasn't available for consultation at the time so I went cortisone.

There's a moto mower for sale near me with good tires that I'm trying to buy for parts and it has good tires like that!

Today my wife and I took the 45 minute drive to Montauk, the eastern most point of Long Island. We went there to watch the sunrise, as it is one of the nicest places to do so. While waiting for it fog rolled in and we were bummed out, but at the last minute the area where the sun was coming up cleared. Like a little window for it to rise in the east, there was fog to the north and south. I watched through my binoculars and could see the wind turbines off the coast of Block Island, Rhode Island. They were between us and the sun! Right as the sun was fully visible a commercial fishing vessel cruised across the horizon in front of the turbines. I wouldn’t have seen any of this if it wasn’t for the binoculars. It’s too bad I couldn’t get a picture of it, as it was truly beautiful. Then the sun went up into the clouds and disappeared. The Montauk Point Lighthouse pictured here was commissioned by President George Washington in 1792. Only a few miles from there is the oldest cattle ranch in the United States, yes here on Long Island! Operated since 1658, 118 years before the birth of the United States. One would think it’s out west but no, it’s in fact right here. It was closed to the public when we were there but I figured I’d take a picture of the entrance.

@OutdoorEnvy and the rest o' youzz folks. I have an UPDATE!! We have an 18 cu yd load of 1 1/2" crushed stone being delivered soon. I figure the Wally Digger Backhoe is a great tool for LOADING yard trailers. We need a way to UNLOAD them. So..... Back to this crane project!! I started out with chopping almost 16" off the end of the crane. Didn't need it. It also added a LOT to the leverage of the whole hitch in a serious downward twist. I'll compensate more for that with a vehicle scissor jack. I'd added a long tube frame to the trailer years ago. Forget now why. May have been because I was thinking about putting the crane on the trailer back then. May have been because I didn't want to chop the tube until I knew what I was doing with this build. Anyway, I shortened that up by over two feet. Before: After: This got the crane and trailer nose about 28" closer together. Next thing was to finish adding the lift mechanism to the crane. Here's the winch: And the lift belt holder: The whole setup: Last for today I found a piece of scrap/leftover 1/2" square edge Advantech. That's going to be bolted to the floor of the trailer. Partially for a great reduction in noise level when filling with stone. Partially for a huge difference in added strength. Next on the list is to add a piece of 3" angle iron to the front as my lifting point. That'll be bolted through the Advantech, the metal floor, the front cargo box support, and the lifting chain(s)..

The extra eggs would sure be nice!

Started deck assembly. Spindles have already been rebuilt with new bearings as required then greased, and threads cleaned up on both ends. Sharpened and balanced blades installed with never seize on the threads. Spindles bolted into deck housing with never seize on the bolts. Front bracket, shaft, and leveler installed. Rear brackets, wheel support, rear rollers, and quadrant installed. Rear brackets are not tight to allow for alignment when the rest of the deck hardware is installed. I made up a little reinforcement plate for the quadrant to help prevent it from cracking again. Belt tension assembly installed minus spring as I just painted it. Front rollers installed. Wheels installed. I am at a standstill right now as I just painted the pulleys and tension spring so they will require a day or two to dry.

Might I be so bold as to suggest a mechanical only resto? No matter what nice find Mike! Bet Massey Jason would like that one @Achto.

A c161 is 1978/79. Your model number 1 0381 is a 1975 C160-8 speed. You can also tell by the angle of the steering tower. Your tractor is made 1977 or earlier.

I do believe this image has been posted on here before, but I'm too lazy this morning to try and find it. It's currently showing up on some random truck facebook group page and there seems to be conflicting guesses on the lawn tractor.

We've got family coming this weekend for a visit - enough that we need the travel trailer as an extra bedroom. Worked this afternoon on dewinterizing the water system after I had puledl it out of its storage place a bit and getting it levelled and stabilized. While I was working on it, I noticed that it was in a good location relative to the fire circle I also noticed that we have a couple of stacks of firewood that need to get used up.. Well, it was a really nice evening tonight, so I built a fire, dug out the weightless chair, and read a book under the awning for a while. Thinking about doing it again tomorrow night.

Pardon my stating the obvious Ed, You have already had your fifty-first anniversary of your twenty-ninth birthday so if you do the math I guess feeling like an 80 year old comes naturally. Hope they can make you feel like a seventy-nine year old again.

Well I’ve been chipping away when I can. I spend days and days sanding and grinding and finally started getting some parts in primer. I definitely went further with the rust and old paint removal than most people would, I bet. These pics are just some of what I have done about half way through spraying them, but it’s proof I’m doing something!! I need to get the frame and “center console” section cleaned up next and then I can spray some color and maybe start putting things back together. Racing the clock trying to be ready to plow this winter. what would be the correct chemical to use to clean dirty finger prints off of these parts that are now in (rustoleum) primer that won’t remove the primer? Seeing things looking cleaned up and looking new is already getting me all fired up for the end result!!

My wife had pushed the limits for years on her one bad knee then finally gave in to a total knee replacement along with a Baker's cyst removal. Things went well. Next was my turn with both knees deteriorating rapidly. I was offered the chicken grease due to the insurance saying that several options need to be tried before they would agree to pay. The doctor and I came up with the paperwork to allow the surgery to go forward. Had one done followed by the other 6 weeks later. That was one of the last done before the plandemic stopped all non-emergency operations. Each time they kicked me out of the hospital the next day due to my chasing the pretty nurses. Physical therapy was interrupted to some extent again because of the Chinese Flu but I did my homework and the two knees are a success. Anyone contemplating getting new parts installed should plan on doing the therapy or the results will be less than satisfactory. They prescribe dope to kill the pain so use it no more or less than necessary to get thru the therapy.

BUT... That gives you a lower range, slower ground speed ALL the time. No regrets having the 8 speed with the "magic" Hi-Lo lever... best of both worlds.

@lynnmor had both of my knees done 17 years ago , 6 months apart , best thing ever done , pryor to having it done , was looking and listening to all the horror stories , so what I did was look up the doctor with the best satisfaction rate , make sense ? dr kambridge is long retired now , but kept you in hospital for 3 days , to insure and verify stability / issue function , then 10 days at a nursing home , to learn to walk/ move with it . today they put you out with practically no learning / adapting stage . having said that , a flat roller stool turned out to be my best gain point, push / pull on your supported skeleton , is the best gain time . none of it is easy ,and requires personal desire to do something. at home therapy assistance is available , must have the self desire to get after it . recently had my l4/ l5 lower spine fused , going to have my right hip replaced , excessive wear due to lower spine alignment . 1 1/2 hr same day , surgery , no fear at all , in a week i'll be back on line , this aint 1950 , pete

How about this one? I was never into the Punk thing but recently watched a movie called CBGB. It was pretty good and entertaining. It's about the club owner of CBGB and how it got started and how it gave lots of bands opportunity. Bands had to play original music only there. Surprisingly, the Talking Heads weren't really featured in it but they even reference CBGB in one of their songs.

Not 100% certain because I can't tell from the pictures, but you may have the wrong spindle housings to go with those shafts.

You could be lol The more I look at it the more I may do that. The 3 point hitch will be painted at least though. It was laying on the dirt floor of the shed so it's just about all rust at this point.

Unfortunately I have not been able to find the exact model number of the deck, I couldn't locate a factory sticker or nameplate with that information on the deck. I printed out the manual for a 95-42MS01 to reference. This deck came with my tractor that I bought just over a month ago, I bought a 1979 C-161 Twin Automatic. It has the fiberglass black hood and the Briggs twin. I believe this deck to be original with the tractor, however the previous owner started on the rebuild but did not keep the old spindles so I don't have those to reference unfortunately. The new spindles also do not have part numbers stamped into them, and the stickers that were originally on them are all ripped off, so I can't double check what they are either. It's challenging picking up a project like this in the middle of it, plus I don't have any part numbers to reference.

I don't have any way to prove this but I've seen it multiple times. I believe that at some point, Toro canceled the availability of the mid-70s decals and people wanted to replace the decals on their tractors. Not having availability to our Terry or other options, they put the later decals on.

@Kblack ether way you have beast of a tractor. Those 16`s will do just about anything you ask of it. Eric has a few of them. He knows this model very well and others who have this model. Enjoy the ride.

@ebinmaine is correct as usual. That is indeed a C-160 8 Speed. The C-1_1’s were only made in 78-79.

The only information I have is that if the plastic spinner breaks, you can order one for a Spiker Spreader and it will be the same one. I believe they were made in the 1970’s? I’ve had mine for over twenty years and only use it to spread pelletized lime. I found it in the basement of an estate I was working on and don’t think it was used much before I bought it. Here it is.

This morning Trina wanted to get the newly restored woodstove in place. Quite the workout. Once the weather cools down some she'll start some small fires in it.

Little more progress finally got ahold of new tie rod ends just have to clean up and paint the jam nuts for them. I also got the rest of the panels sand blasted and got the hood stand welded up and ground down. I’ve always seen these break out at the top but I’ve never seen the bottom break on them.

I started a crane build several years ago. Got back to it.

I love the oil drain valves and have been using them for years on everything. I tend to keep them a bit shorter so they don't hang over the frame as far. Only found one vehicle where they would be a bad idea. The drain on my wifes car is centered on the bottom of the drain pan. Clearance is already iffy and I don't want to lose more.

I found 7 inch wheels at TS , not stocked in the stores . Made by Martin Wheel ,there are steel with a 55 lb capacity. Should arrive on the 18th . I'll let everyone know how they fit etc. after I get them mounted.

Deck has been welded up, welds ground smooth then sanded. Bottom painted with high temp black because it seems slightly more durable. Topside primered (I missed a bit because I ran out of primer, there was just a little left in the can), then painted. I am starting to get the hang of the spray gun.

Tractor buffed and waxed. Hubcaps also cleaned and waxed. They are in almost perfect condition. I made up tie rods mainly because the originals are non adjustable and steering wheel was slightly crooked (Damn OCD). Engine tins straightened and cleaned. Tractor runs and drives very good, just needs a slight carb adjust once I run out the old gas and get some new non-ethanol high test in it (I finally found a station that has gas that I tested to be non ethanol).
