9 pointsFriend of mine has welding skills (I have none), he welded up the support rails on my 414, which is my favorite mowing rig with the 42RD. Shot em with primer yesterday, will get a single coat of black today and then reassemble. Thanks @Scot 1966

8 pointsI couldn't say no to this one. A gemtleman asked me at a show last week if I wanted a yellow massey ferguson and I knew immediately what he was talking about. So I dropped by today and made a deal! Came with a 3pt hitch and attachments! I have no idea how the 3pt hitch goes together so I'll have to figure that out. This one is definitely gonna get restored though! It's sat for a looooong time however, bit the engine is free. And to get in a horse, I took the c-161 along to drag it on the trailer lol

8 pointsI love the oil drain valves and have been using them for years on everything. I tend to keep them a bit shorter so they don't hang over the frame as far. Only found one vehicle where they would be a bad idea. The drain on my wifes car is centered on the bottom of the drain pan. Clearance is already iffy and I don't want to lose more.
-
8 pointsFinally !!! After 10 years of gona get around to it, I got around to it. Don't have to drop the deck anymore to change oil in the old steady user. Went all brass with a Fumoto valve and 5" nipple ( 6" put me out too far ) street elbow screwed in without any issues. Don't know why I waited so long as I use this tractor weekly.
-
6 pointsHere it is once I got it home has a nice hy2 on it and the wheel weights are bolens but they will work
-
6 pointsYou already have a hydro pump on the tractor for the drive. I would just gather the parts to add the lift. Don't really need a new rock shaft, you can cut the lift handle off and add a piece of metal to the bottom of it for the ram. Will try to get better picture later, but this is how it was done on my Raider.

5 points@OutdoorEnvy and the rest o' youzz folks. I have an UPDATE!! We have an 18 cu yd load of 1 1/2" crushed stone being delivered soon. I figure the Wally Digger Backhoe is a great tool for LOADING yard trailers. We need a way to UNLOAD them. So..... Back to this crane project!! I started out with chopping almost 16" off the end of the crane. Didn't need it. It also added a LOT to the leverage of the whole hitch in a serious downward twist. I'll compensate more for that with a vehicle scissor jack. I'd added a long tube frame to the trailer years ago. Forget now why. May have been because I was thinking about putting the crane on the trailer back then. May have been because I didn't want to chop the tube until I knew what I was doing with this build. Anyway, I shortened that up by over two feet. Before: After: This got the crane and trailer nose about 28" closer together. Next thing was to finish adding the lift mechanism to the crane. Here's the winch: And the lift belt holder: The whole setup: Last for today I found a piece of scrap/leftover 1/2" square edge Advantech. That's going to be bolted to the floor of the trailer. Partially for a great reduction in noise level when filling with stone. Partially for a huge difference in added strength. Next on the list is to add a piece of 3" angle iron to the front as my lifting point. That'll be bolted through the Advantech, the metal floor, the front cargo box support, and the lifting chain(s)..

5 pointsFinally finished up a rehab on trailer. Paid $895 for it brand new 25yrs ago. Definitely gotten my money worth out of it all these years. Finally it was time for a strip down to repaint. Also had to replace hubs/bearings (they were original) New chains & tongue jack. Hopefully last me another 25yrs

4 pointsToday my wife and I took the 45 minute drive to Montauk, the eastern most point of Long Island. We went there to watch the sunrise, as it is one of the nicest places to do so. While waiting for it fog rolled in and we were bummed out, but at the last minute the area where the sun was coming up cleared. Like a little window for it to rise in the east, there was fog to the north and south. I watched through my binoculars and could see the wind turbines off the coast of Block Island, Rhode Island. They were between us and the sun! Right as the sun was fully visible a commercial fishing vessel cruised across the horizon in front of the turbines. I wouldn’t have seen any of this if it wasn’t for the binoculars. It’s too bad I couldn’t get a picture of it, as it was truly beautiful. Then the sun went up into the clouds and disappeared. The Montauk Point Lighthouse pictured here was commissioned by President George Washington in 1792. Only a few miles from there is the oldest cattle ranch in the United States, yes here on Long Island! Operated since 1658, 118 years before the birth of the United States. One would think it’s out west but no, it’s in fact right here. It was closed to the public when we were there but I figured I’d take a picture of the entrance.

4 pointsA hydraulic lift with a foot pedal motion control is the best for a snow removal machine. A-Z probably has a the hardware or use Dan's idea with your existing parts. I have used a winch and assist springs on plows and blowers. With a winch, you need to be aware of the overrun. I added springs to protect the linkage. I use sections of old garage door springs to make my springs. With the right amount of spring assist and a solid lift link, a snow blower or plow can be set up so very little pull is required to raise the implement and a forward push on the lift lever can apply down pressure for scraping.

2 pointsA c161 is 1978/79. Your model number 1 0381 is a 1975 C160-8 speed. You can also tell by the angle of the steering tower. Your tractor is made 1977 or earlier.

2 pointsJust took a look at HF and this electric winch is only $ 55.00 with remote and cables to hook it up. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/winches/2000-lb-utility-trailer-winch-with-steel-rope-57365.html

2 pointsBy the time you go through the work and expense of converting your transaxle, add a spool valve and hoses, mount a cylinder and so on the $ 100.00 doesn't look to bad after all.
-
2 pointsCleaned off the garden and got the old tiller tractor out. Hard to believe this tiller went through a garage fire 30 years ago or so. Works great
-
2 pointsLittle more progress finally got ahold of new tie rod ends just have to clean up and paint the jam nuts for them. I also got the rest of the panels sand blasted and got the hood stand welded up and ground down. I’ve always seen these break out at the top but I’ve never seen the bottom break on them.

2 pointsWent and killed myself today. A family we know lost their 21 y/o son recently and needed help clearing yard at their cabin of the firewood pile so family coming had parking. We spent about 2.5 hours working on that today, along with some other families from the group we know them through. I feel good about it now, I'll regret it tomorrow.

2 pointsAfternoon fellas and Felletes... Been using a 2011 Rogue with a CVT as a daily... cant tow "poop" with it... rating is 1000lbs and thats 999 too much. These CVTs are WEAK... but I digress. Sold the Rogue to my Nephew as he was daily driving a '96 F350 4x4 with a 460!! Bought a '16 Jeep Renegade 4x4 with a 6 speed manual. 4.43 rear gears and a full tow package. Its rated for 2000 lbs. I hate driving my pickup in salt all winter... this will allow me to move tractors and such around, help my family and take trash to dump. All the while the GMC Sierras frame says Thank You! Thank You very much! A 4x6 trailer and one tractor with 42" sd deck is in the 1300 lb range. I tested it and am plesantly surprised at the performance. Engine is a 1.4 l F.I.R.E Turbo so far MPG average is 32.5 Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend Tony

2 pointsI had to watch 3 of my grandsons the other day while my wife and daughter went to a funeral. They got kinda' antsy, so I figured "why not take them for a ride with ole' rusty". Went all around the property, up into the woods and back. They had a blast. So did I.

2 pointsThe only information I have is that if the plastic spinner breaks, you can order one for a Spiker Spreader and it will be the same one. I believe they were made in the 1970’s? I’ve had mine for over twenty years and only use it to spread pelletized lime. I found it in the basement of an estate I was working on and don’t think it was used much before I bought it. Here it is.
-
2 points@Sparky I had that frame issue with my 312-8 as well. I fixed it the same way too. However, in my case I’m thinking that the stress of the second PO being 300+ pounds cracked the frame in that same spot.

2 pointsWell the hood has it’s signature satin black front. It turned out fairly well but it certainly was nerve wracking making sure I got it right and masked off properly. My only gripe and maybe it’s me being critical is having to cheat the tape line on the RH side so it lined up properly with the rest of the hood. But this hood was twisted and some spot welds were broke out along with the grill being pushed in so all things considered I’ll take it
