8 pointsI bought this 520 with a bad engine and was going to part it out for another project, but thought, why not engine swap it!! Swapped in a Magnum 12,wheel weights inside and out, new tires all around, led lights, four foot blade. Tires are Lawn Trac. Never used them before, l hope they work okay.

7 pointsSome of you may remember my buddy Bill. I fixed his Bronco 14 a while ago. He bought this whole setup brand new in 1968 ! I love it when he talks about it because his face lights up with pride. Anyway, he lives in a small cottage on the water less than a mile away from me and has a newer box store Cub Cadet to mow his lawn with. The other day he called and said the Cub keeps throwing the belt off the mower deck. I really didn’t want to work on it right away especially when it’s close to 90 degrees outside. So I decided to run over there and just mow the grass for him. He is a super nice guy and I really enjoy helping him. He always tries to pay me for helping him, but I will never take a cent for it. I’m a firm believer in karma. After mowing I thought this might be a good time for a picture or two, since I’m at the beach! In the background we are looking north towards the North Fork of Long Island. Beyond that would be the Long Island Sound and then Connecticut. Here’s Bill a year and a half ago on his Bronco, and my 418-C, hope you enjoy!

6 pointsA little progress actually building. I cut some flat bar and tacked them in to keep the frame square, then I cut out the axle support brackets and drilled them with the largest bit I had. I had to hand ream to correct size. Tacked in the brackets to check the fit of the axle.

6 pointsI know you said not to, but if you ask me for a Work Horse I think white is right!

4 pointsTwenty years ago I installed a marble floor in our family room. My wife decided it was time to paint so we painted ceiling and walls. So, today I decided it was time to strip and clean the floors. Pretty amazing how dingy a floor can get. We've been talking about stripping the wax off of the floor and what a difference it makes. I told Pam, the next time I strip it will be in 20 years and I'll be 92!

4 pointsVery nice. Would never have thought of that swap.Bought this new in 89. New OEM Kohler fuel pump 4 years ago. Many oil changes, air filter, pre cleaner foam fiters. 600 hours on engine. Awesome, 12 HP Magnum. Good Luck with it. @Moparfanforever

4 pointsThey do look good, won’t deny that. I’m just not a fan of white wheels on anything (no offense). I think I’m going with gloss black. Almost went with a red but I don’t think I’ll still like the look a year or so from now and I really don’t wanna be painting these again in 18 months. Black I think I could live with for a loooong time!

3 pointsYou surprised me @rjg854 , thought I might see just an engine by itself in the middle of your yard.
-
3 pointsThanks Richie. When I figure out how I want to install the jack shafts I'm going to box in the center portion of the frame between the front and rear axle. That will give me 2x2x3/8 fràme rails. 5hen I will put bracing rail to rail with 1/4 plate. I leveled the frame, built the dash ànd worked on the axle hubs before the heat got unbearable for me.

3 pointsIf you wanted to bring it to the show really really badly maybe you could trailer it to the location. Push it on and off the trailer. Absolutely minimum movement.

3 pointsNice - at my age (70) I already look at any home project and ask 2 questions... Will this be the last time I do this over in my lifetime??? If not, how to do it to give at least 10 years use without a revisit... short money to do it :right"

2 pointsJust wanted to post a update.Mr @pfrederi sent me all the rings I need for both valves I replaced them all . I also cleaned the forward and reverse valves ,the reverse was jammed with some junk, not sure what it was. Anyway all this has solved the problems as I have full reverse speed now and no more surging forward. It also fixed the creeping issue I was having even after adjustment . Replacing those rings really made a difference!

2 pointsNO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO Have you called them several times by now?? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Operating any machinery without proper lubricant is one of the best and fastest ways to destroy it. Also, not having the seals in place you are taking a huge chance on introducing foreign matter like dust or sand into the bearings which sit right there on the outside edge.

2 pointsYou see a million 57 Chevys, Corvettes, Chevelle's GTO's and early 50's GM trucks at car shows. You don't see a old beastly "survivor " every day. They get the attention all the time now. (Tires don't look Street legal!) They used to have an ALL CHEVY show in Syracuse. I had my 69 Caprice 4DR. "Grandpa Car there many years in the "full size class" I took first 1 year because the 65 Caprice convertible with 5000 miles didn't show up because it "might rain " a bit. Guys liked it because it was clean with rally wheels and it looked stock but it had a Chevelle SS intake, Quadrajet and factory style air cleaner on it. Every other car had Chrome this and that under the hood with spark plug wires like spaghetti. took 2nd the other years.

2 pointsWow you cleaned that deck so well I can't even see it...
