10 pointsThis was Steve’s father’s 702. We just got to Symco, WI tonight, and swung by his place on the way through this morning. I am loving the pinstripes on everything!

9 pointsI'm wondering if Kevin knew how famous this Steve-Oh-Two was going to be. I can tell you, it is an excellent horse. It will make my Dad proud to know that 3 of his 4 horses have gone to Great Homes. The 702 went to Pullstart...the 502 went to JoBob...the Raider 10 went to Skipper in Europe. I still have the 4th one...the 857.
-
9 pointsI was talking to Steve a couple of weeks ago and he told me you were getting the 702. He says " I have a snow blower for it I need to get rid of." I told him, "Kevin NEEDS that snow blower!"
-
8 points@Sparky You will love this...My Dad was an electrician, but he was also an artist. He built switchboards for places like the Milwaukee Braves statium, high schools, etc. Kinney Electric. Anyway, he started his own lawn business in the early 70's (after he retired) with 4 Wheel Horse tractors. He had a Ford pick-up truck that was this orange color and he accented the horses and accessories to match. He used a little hand held stripping wheel that held a little bit of paint.

8 pointsHere is a picture you might enjoy Kevin. The 702 on the back of my '64 Ford Costom at AJ's Jamboree in 2012.
-
8 pointsI'm looking forward to the virtual trip as well as my in person trip to see @953 nut . My first trip this year and it's gonna be a two-fer!
-
7 pointsLooking at retirement next year my wife suggested getting a new pickup. She has been trying to get me to replace my old faithful for the last 5 years. I have looked at the new ones and I really liked some of them but just could not justify the cost for my needs. The clear coat was 3/4 gone and there were a couple quarter size rust spots starting to show so I knew it was time for a change. I delivered it to a body shop in March and have been watching the transformation all along and I like the workmanship. I went to see the progress today and found the paint had been completed. A few pictures of the progress.

7 pointsNuttin exciting here…but now that I have this 14 Magnum dialed in and tested “good” it has earned an oil change with some quality oil (draining out cheap oil laced with some Marvel Mystery Oil)
-
7 pointsSince we had to load quickly on a State Hyway, I didn't get to tell Kevin about some of the changes on the 702. I don't know if those front wheels were done by my Dad, or he bought it like that. It is not factory...it is better then factory. It has regular boat hubs, the axles have a sleeve to fit the regular trailer type bearings. You don't have to mess with these Kevin, I greased those bearings back in 2009 and they have never been wet and used only on Sundays to mow my small, level yard and push some fall leaves. I did use it sometimes to push snow because of the HY-2. The parts (in order). Not showing the inner bearing. One other thing Kevin. You see that roll pin just left of the oil drain plug in the 1st picture ?? Keep an eye on it...it has a bad habit of working its way out. I just tap it back in about once a year. The knurled hood knobs have Helo Coils in there. Got those from Gene Simpson at a Mentone, Ind Show. He was making them back then.

6 pointsWhat does the top of the cast iro cylinder look like? Ck this. Bolt the head on lightly snug with no head gasket. Go around with feeler gages and mark any gaps. (You could also use some machinery Blue). Now torq the head down and recheck your gaps. This should show you any trouble areas of the block surface. Any pitted areas?
-
6 pointsThis one was a particularly dirty example and it cleaned up quite nicely. It's sat in lacquer thinner in the ultrasonic cleaner for 9 or 10 days. Soaking. Every day or two I would run the machine for a cycle or two morning and night or whatever. This afternoon I took it out and ran a can of brake clean all around it and through it and next to it and up down left right in out of it etc etc. That'll do.....

5 points@ronwh you should have a message in your inbox from @Steve Janninck for purchase details. These cupholders are currently only fitted for the 300, 400, & 500 series tractors because that are the only models that both of us have. May be time to diversify our fleet.

5 pointsMost times I don't even know I touched something. I find I'm bleeding when I come in from the shop and, Mrs. K. yells "STOP, you have a leak".

5 pointsThose look kind of small for a Texas Hummer. Down here Hummers compete with Emu’s , for landing rights. But no matter the size, shape or color they all taste like chicken. Yes, this thread has gone to the birds.
-
5 pointsAnd the name. Back when Rylee got her 1076 I think, I told Steve that I’d name my next one Steve, just to rub in in that we name our machines. Well, I named a C-81Steve shortly after. Since that name is taken, I told him I’d name this one Steve Oh Two, as in 702.

5 pointsI have had this 2000 Silverado since October of 1999. I figure I can replace the engine, transmission, and rear end and a paint job for less than half the cost of a new one.
-
5 pointsIf it ain't broke, don't fix it!! I too looked at new trucks, but decided to pump about $1100 into my 99 Ranger. I would rather deal with upkeep & repairs that a truck payment. Look at all the various recalls from both domestic & foreign truck manufacturers..... some quite serious.

4 pointsHi, I'm new here since July 18, but not new to Wheel horse. My first one was a 418 1980, which was a good tractor for me. I still have the snow thrower from it and it works on my 1998 520h. I'd like to thank the person's that commented on my post about the stoppages I was having and the other posts that I read. Used my Toro leaf blower and got riid of a mouse nest I didn't my tractor had. It ran great. The great thing about most Wheel horse attachments, you didn't have to buy new ones when you got a new tractor. I used to have a plow, disc and cultivator, when I had a garden from the 418 and they worked with my 520h also. You don't see that much today. I'll take some time to see what peoples thoughts are on pre Toro and now.

4 pointsYou're better off with that old truck than a new one Jay as far as I can see.
-
4 pointsI finally found a digital dash mounted tachometer that works with a single cylinder engine. Very accurate when compared with an optical tach. I figured that digital might be better to handle the tractor vibrations than a needle style. It marries up nicely to the digital volt meter I installed a few years ago.
-
4 pointsBoy Kev you get around. Good to see Steves farther tractor going to a good home. Ohh nice rig with camper and hauler setup.

-
3 pointsSomewhere I have a note pad with my dad's maint records for my truck, from back when it was his, going all the way back to November of 88.
-
3 pointsYou just gotta' admire a man who keeps meticulous maintenance records, even if it has been fifteen years. Love ya' @stevasaurus.
-
3 pointsGlad we were able to help you out. Many parts are also interchangeable from one decade to another and the majority of the seals and bearings are standard industrial supply items with lots of sources rather than dealer only proprietary overpriced parts like most other brands.

3 points@stevasaurus Who did the pinstriping? I really like that, and the yellow is perfect! Much better than white stripes
-
3 pointsThese are new spots from when I first took it off. I had put sandpaper on my granite and you could definitely see that the head was warped. I sanded and sanded until I got it flat.
-
3 pointsOnly about 460 miles we’re covered yesterday, but it took nearly 12 hours by the time we got done making our way
-
3 pointsI have not yet gotten that far into the tractor, but we were sitting around watching it get dark last night when we noticed the hubs too! They are stout!
-
3 pointsGreat Work Mike ! 👍 Regards from the „Haircompatible“ bavarian 😎😂

3 pointsThe hour meter on your 312 has fuse protection and is only powered when the key is on so that is a good source of electrical power for the fuel pump. The pump should be located lower than the fuel tank so it has a positive suction head pressure and doesn't have to suck the fuel. You may want to go ahead and buy the pump along with new hose, clamps and a filter so you can do the job at your convenience rather than when the mechanical pump decides to let you down.

-
3 pointsVery nice. I was recently given a set of 8" four lug wheels. Can you tell me more about those front hubs? I've been wondering if I could adapt the wheels to fit my 416H and maybe gain stronger front wheel bearings in the process.
-
3 pointsScraped out the underside of a 36" rotary deck and gave it an oil treatment and it's baking in the sun.
