8 pointsHere is a repair I did to my plastic gas tank on my B100 so this is mainly for the gas tanks in the 73-77 B and C series I believe those are the ones with the gas tank over the battery and the bushing and shutoff on the bottom of the tank. (Edit to add) BEFORE working on the tank throughly wash out the tank, I used soap and water and filled the tank to overflowing several times to make sure any and all fumes are pushed out of the tank. You can kinda of see the crack right on the edge of the hole where the light is. The first thing I did was use a utility knife and cut a V on the bottom of the tank where the crack is. Then you will need a black ziptie and what I used was a soldering iron. If you have a plastic welding iron that might work too if it has a fine enough tip. What I did first before even adding plastic was get the tip of the iron in the bottom of the V to melt together the crack Then you can start adding plastic using the black ziptie keep the iron in the crack being careful but keeping all the plastic melted so it can properly meld together. Eventually you will get something like this what I did have to do is roll the round part of the iron in the hole to smooth it out. Be very careful doing this not to enlarge the hole. I used some petroleum jelly reinstalling the bushing and have had no leaks after several days. You will need to check it for several days to make sure it's not leaking as well.

8 pointsFinally got the free to me 14-8 out of the garage under its own power. She’s rough looking but solid. I completely rewired it (if you know me you know I absolutely hate electrical so this was a major step for me) installed a good starter I had since it was missing it’s own, new starter solenoid, cleaned the carb and points and got it running. Last night I slid the 42” deck that came on grandpas 416-h on. It’s the nicer of the 2 42” decks I have. Mowed great for the whole yard until…. Out pops the right spindle. Looks like my grandfather made a repair at some point in its life. Now to try my luck at welding. Those skills are worse than my electrical skills. Boy that 14hp drinks gas. Couldn’t do the full 2 1/2 acres on one tank where my sons 12hp and my 18hp vanguards still have a 1/4 tank left. thinking of trying my hand at wet sanding and seeing what’s left of color if anything.

8 pointsRecently a routine police patrol parked outside a bar called the Rammer Jammer in a small farm town in Alabama. After last call the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely walk. The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity in which he tried his keys on five different vehicles, the man managed to find his truck and trailer and fall into it. He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally, he got into the car and started the engine, switched the wipers on and off....it was a fine, dry summer night, flicked the blinkers on and off a couple of times, honked the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained still for a few more minutes as some more of the other patrons' vehicles left. Finally, when his was the only car left in the parking lot, he pulled out and drove slowly down the road. The police officer, having waited patiently all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and administered a breathalyzer test. To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence that the man had consumed any alcohol at all! Dumbfounded, the officer said, 'I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyzer equipment must be broken.' 'I seriously doubt it', said the truly proud farmer. 'Tonight, I'm the designated decoy.'

7 pointsRan up the Ct river with a few friends, high school buddies to be exact! Docked for lunch and then a high-speed cruise back down to the launch. Not every day is a tractor day
-
7 pointsNever saw one of these before. Appears to be the same concept that Toro used in the 60's with their power handle : one engine could be used with multiple attachments......listed locally to me on Facebook
-
7 pointsThe Paint Department gave my Mackissic chipper front bracket a coat of cinnamon paint to match the rest of the tractor.

7 pointsWas a REAL pleasure to meet with @953 nut yesterday. Nice to put a face to the name and have some fun sharing horse talk! A big thanks again to all who helped me get back "in the saddle" with my C-120 "digger".

6 pointsWent with my dad to get a refrigerator out of a lady's basement for her and this was hanging in her garage. Her husband had passed away and she was cleaning up so this was designated for scrap so she told me to take it with me if I liked it. I think it's neat and I'll see if I can get the little 2 stroke running!

6 pointsThese are approximately 2”x 2” They vary depending on what it is. Most of the badge/logos are around 4” x 1”. Somewhere right in there. Single rare earth magnet on the back.

6 pointsWell, after a lot of digging, moving stuff, moving more stuff and then moving some stuff, we are almost done with the rear yard project. a couple of tons of white limestone as a sub base. an electric whacker plate compactor, total PITA avoiding the cable all the time, should all be scrapped lol. the labourer had started to slow down here somewhat. But you can see the gist of it. Weed control membrane, landscaping grids and 10mm gravel. While collecting the last lot of grids from our DIY store i came across this big boy running down the road. He had broken away from his owner, pulled the extending lead out of her hand. The plactic hand piece was "chasing" him along the road so he woukdnt stop. Thankfully the same hand piece got wedged under the wheel of a parked car and that stopped him. Managed to get him in the car and bring him home out of the sun for a drink. luckily he had atag on his collar so i rang the owner and she came out for him. He's a Carpathian shepherd dog, big beast but lovely nature. quite a day all in all.

4 points@peter lena The placement of my control lever worked out great. I can reach out with my pinky finger to run the hydraulics with out ever taking my hand off from steering wheel.

4 pointsHere is a true story about a couple of local guys I know.... Steve & Glenn were the husbands of two of my wife's female friends.... all 6 of us did our fair share of hanging out together the last 45 years... One Saturday afternoon both Steve & Glenn were tying one on at a local watering hole called the Comealong Inn. Interesting place - it was in an old wood building; tavern on the north half, a laundromat on the south - AND straddling the town line of West Warwick & Coventry - the tavern was in West Warwick. Steve's car was parked on the street out in front of it.... It got to be past suppertime and they wanted to leave, but the Coventry Police had setup a Drunk Driving checkpoint in front of the laundry. They see it and do not want to risk getting a DUI. Glenn uses the payphone to call the Coventry Police saying that he is the bartender at another Coventry bar and that there is a big fight going on. Glenn finishes by saying that one of the patrons is brandishing a hand gun and hangs up. Glenn comes out from the back where the payphone was - Steve asks him "So???" Glenn tells him to wait for it... the 2 cops fold up their stuff and leave to go that other bar.... Glenn tells Steve to finish up his beer and says, OK let's go....!! No more antics there, the laundry burnt down years ago and taking the tavern with it..

4 pointsI mounted this pump on to a Raider 12. The pump I used had to spin clock wise so it had to drive off of the flywheel side of the engine. Your pump is a counter clock wise pump & will need to drive off of the PTO side. Some pic's of my set up.

4 pointsI have been buying original parts from Brian for a while now. He does a great job keep these old tractors going. We should thank our vendors who keep them running.

3 pointsFound my spare plow angle lever (we all have a spare angle lever right??) . Installed it on the new 42” plow I was given that was missing the lever. Some acoustic ceiling tie wire was perfect to use from the squeeze handle to the triangle thingy , works perfectly now!

3 pointsI linked the wrong model year so have now changed it. Not used to seeing Toro serial numbers https://www.partstree.com/models/31501-toro-snow-pup-snow-thrower-sn-000000001-000999999-1970/

3 pointsWill it bolt on? NO But if you have a grinder, a welder, time, and imagination, you could make it work. Probably cheaper to buy a 312 H.
-
3 pointsAriens made something similar. My Dad had a leaf vac attachment for his 70's vintage Ariens snowblower. There were also mowers available.
-
3 pointsAdded four more magnets to the line up. This was a test run. Next up is the 953/1054 grille, GT-14, 60’s style and then the C & D series. Going to try and get them all made up. Yes…… also working on the senior.

3 pointsGot together with @Sailman for pleasant lunch and a little horse talk today. I gave him the steering wheel from Kevin @Pullstart and the hood from Randy @rjg854 as well as the belt guard I scored at the Big Show for him. Rick was a pleasure to get to know, hope he will make the show next year.

2 pointsThat seems like it would be much tougher to try to plastic weld a broken nipple back on. Now that will probably happen to me when I pull that fuel hose off the Raider
-
2 pointsThat said a similar repair method might be able to be used on most of the plastic tanks. This just seemed to be a common failure point on this particular tank.

2 pointsI could be wrong but I believe the only ones with the bushings and the tanks above the battery were the 73-77. The 72 Raider I just got has the red tank and it appears to just have a nipple on the bottom I have not pulled the fuel hose off to confirm that.
-
2 pointsNice work! On the year span. There were late 60s or early 70s models with plastic tanks. Some (maybe all??) Were red. Thanks for posting this!

2 points@Achto been experimenting with heim joints for years , have yet to have a failure , brake / clutch linkage , any swivel point , of course steering linkage , PTO LEVER SET UP . pete
-
2 points@Achto wait , you can't do that , ! a heim joint on a wheel horse ? nice looking set up / finish . corrective action on a problem area ? we are not close in distance , but we can talk / share problem elimination , good for you ! pete
-
2 pointsI have been using this for awhile. Look up model and the info is there for what belt you need. Very handy to have. Thanks Garry for all your hard work on this.

2 points@Achto retrofitted a pump to a tractor up high behind the engine. Kind of like where a starter generator would mount on the older 60,s tractors. I believe he had to switch to a physically smaller battery from a motorcycle to make it all fit. So doable with some creativity. Just be sure you mount it where it keeps the pump pulley spinning the correct direction.

2 pointsBeen a while since I’ve messed with the old WC, been focusing all my attention on the Cub LoBoy and the old Allis got shoved in the back of the shop. But now we’re at a standstill on the Cub looking for parts so figured why not pull the old WC up and get it running. Hope to have some decent weather before long that’s not too hot where we can seal the fuel tank, but we have a runner

2 pointsT'was a good weekend. Camping a couple hours north. Did some hiking. Got to meet my new grandkid.
