10 pointsBeen going to the WH Show for like 20 years now…yesterday for the first time I drove out and explored the woods. Found this cool water tank thingy!
-
6 pointsDefinitely had to want them parts to dig through them in the heat. Here are a few of my scores .

6 pointsWhen I was making my practice pulls I had one instance where the tractor popped out of 2nd gear. This issue has been stuck in my head, as I didn't want it to happen again. Choice "A" tear the tranny apart & see what the problem might be. Choice "B" adapt a feature that I have seen on many of the Cub Cadet pulling tractor. The feature that I observed on the CC's was a flip over shifter lock to keep it from popping out of gear. I did a little head scratching & came up with this idea to hold the shifter in second gear. The pin that I used is a quick release with a detent ball on it. When not in use it can be pinned forward where it is out of the way, this feature also helps keep the pin from getting lost.

6 pointsFound that when I went the first time and thought it was cool then. Really neat to find just out riding around plus there is a lot more shade back there in the woods. Good seeing you …… Tractor looks great.

5 pointsDash console bead blasted and welded up on the lower corners where it has some cracking. Sanded welds smooth. Rear of Hoodstand there front fender bracket bolts on there were some cracks. These have been welded and ground flat. Started sanding entire hoodstand until the rain started (I try and sand outside to keep shop as clean as possible).

4 pointsSet up a Reserved Seating Area for the Wheel Horse spirits... Thx @Ed Kennell!!!
-
4 pointsHere is a squirrel cage blower driven by an old engine working at giving a group of vendors a breeze on a very still, very hot day! I made sure to walk in front of it a couple of times as a “test” of its effectiveness and can report that it does the job.
-
4 pointsMuch thanks to John for the help with the belt guides on the 551. I keep watch on him so he didn't step or kneel in his chili dog. I was getting the camera ready!

3 pointsThere's a good woman! She mowing the yard and I'm sitting in shop drinking iced tea! Not only can she mow, she came with her own boat and cleans fish as well. It could be I have embellished a bet but she's still a good woman!

3 pointsLet the fun begin! Loaded up at home @Blasterdad and I having sammiches at the Somerset service “Plaza” Snacks while we wait for tractor friends @squonk trying to run over @rjg854 @stevebo pulling in My brother @Tractorhead, all the way from Bavaria! Norman sitting at the Quality Inn, waiting for tractor friends to come by… A sweet set of RJs, I missed who’s. Dinner plans got a little messed up. A big group of blue hairs took our Italian Village table, so we had to scramble a bit. Right down the road @buckrancher, Mrs. Buckrancher, Bryon, Stephan and @Handy Don and I found some good hearty home cookin’ at Hickory Ridge. TWINNING! Fellowshipping with the friends

2 pointsThe show has been hot this year. My shower felt great, but I was a sweaty pig by the time I got dressed to walk back to camp! @wallfish hooked a brother up and left us a radon pump and told us to get creative for some air movement. This is what @Tractorhead and I came up with. It was quite dark by the time we hung this, so as I wake I marvel at our magnificent work Thanks for keeping it cool John! I actually zipped my sleeping bag up a couple hours ago!

2 pointsWe know it is fuel related, either a cracked fuel filter housing or a bad o-ring on the fuel filter, will report back tomorrow
-
2 pointsWish I would have stayed but the heat got the best of me. I was already in bed when this was happening. 😬
-
2 pointsThat‘s my point of the things i spotted out. i didn‘t just took pictures like somebody can see everywhere in thousands of pictures. i just spot out what catches my interest, even if this be just fracts out of a complete View.

2 pointsREASSEMBLY TIME! We took some time to get all the pieces in the same space. Got all the bolts and parts organized. First order of business was to replace the temporarily installed zip ties with permanent proper good quality cotter pins. Next we fastened the right side bearing. Then the right side to the bottom. That took some finagling because the case is dented and bent from use. Structurally still very strong so I did not try to straighten it. Then we added the left side and bolted those 3 pieces all together. The flywheel is only slid in. Not attached yet.

2 pointsWent to the show looking for a tractor. Didn't find one I wanted for sale. Had some nice conversations with @Tractorhead , @Blasterdad and @wallfish, then went and bought a boat instead.
-
2 pointsI've owned quite a few 310s and never had one slapping like this slap. I wish there was a way to raise the lower belt keeper tang that's bolted to engine up towards belt closer. That would most likely help. I've thought about installing a spacer plate between the foot rest and shield so belt can't reach shield to slap it.

2 pointsOh it's not that bad. It's only 95 degrees in the shade. Wonderful day for a tractor show.
-
2 pointsProbably from a local parts store that's serviced by carquest. It's available on multiple internet sites. I haven't seen it in person for a few weeks but I'll check with the guy that has the tractor.
-
2 pointsWhen the clutch is depressed, the belt should not be moving. Does it grind when you shift gears? Here's a video of a 310-8 belt and pulley arrangement. You can see the belt is locked from moving when the clutch is depressed.
-
2 pointsWhen you have it apart check the clutch shaft, there may be wear in the frame causing extra belt loosen. I added brass bushing to the frame on my C-120 as it made a knocking sound with the clutch depressed.
-
2 pointsThe drifting could likely be just a friction adjustment. My recently acquired 314H would drift a little at first. The motion lever is supposed to take about 6# of pressure to move. I checked it and it was only about 4#. I tightened it to 6# and all tendency to drift was gone. I used a trigger pull gauge to check it.
-
2 pointsMine use to drift even after adjustment and worn parts on motion control,I believe worn out pump will cause this ? I added a notched block to keep control arm stationary.
-
2 pointsFor sure. If you were looking for a worker 8-12hp 8-speed there were plenty to choose from at fair prices. If you were willing to do some work, there were bargains. Heck, some guy even managed to sell a snowmobile on one of the hottest days of the year ( @stevebo )

2 pointsGot in a quick test today. I'm not changing anything! It works great, though there will be a bit of a learning curve. Hardest thing so far was making my brain work out the foot control on the hydro vs "feathering" the hydraulic lift. Practice should fix all of that. Two things I've figured out so far: big difference in moving gravel vs smoothing it. How anyone could use one of these on a manual lift is beyond me. I guess the extra weight of my blade has its drawbacks. I fixed two places today in my driveway. The entrance at the road was the worst, but after basically transferring one side of the driveway to the other, it's good now. The other was the stutter bumps in the curve behind the tractor below. All good now! Only complaint I have is the gravel accumulates on top of the pivot, so you have to knock it off to keep rocks out of the garage! And the 523-H is now officially a worker!
-
2 pointsWell I got it finished. Time to test it out. I made a handle from a shifter off a walk behind mower. Just grab the handle, pull the small lever and the pin raises allowing blade angle change on the fly. It has 5 positions. I borrowed the quadrant from an old mower deck. I used heim joints so it won't bind through the full travel, and stays clear of the lift point as well. Only complaint so far is it weighs at least 100lbs. Hopefully that means it'll grade well.

1 pointWandered around the BS trying not to buy stuff I thought was cool but really, really, really don’t need or have space for! I saw a LOT of tires and wheels being hauled away and I saw a couple of tractors change hands. Not quite as many sellers today but maybe there will be more tomorrow. Admired (and should have grabbed a picture of) a very large squirrel cage blower running off a 10 hp motor cooling off one group of sellers!

1 pointI know it was a great day Steve. It was a pleasure to finally talk with you in person. Have a Great Evening

1 pointI had to make lists (not shared here ) to keep the transport straight. Some of them are “Going to the BS”, “Coming home from the BS”, and a separate, “Shopping at the BS”. I did make a strategic decision NOT to bring the roof-top bars for the car. This will probably, but not certainly, inhibit a purchase that won’t fit on the trailer or in the car. Even my wife asked, “But aren’t you leaving one tractor at the show? So you’ll have plenty of room on the trailer!” Sometimes I’m still amazed that such a smart woman was willing to marry me and stick around for 50 years (as of last week).

1 pointI’m gonna ride down Saturday and check the place out… see how much Wheel Horse “ gold” they have…
