A cool 77F and a nice breeze this morning. So I took my last walk before the show. I was taking a pic of the new calf when he turned and was staring to my left. I turned to see what he was staring at and saw this. Stopped on the way home to pick a few berries and a helper showed up to help pick. It was a quality walk.

Lots of us will be on the road for long trips starting in the next couple days. Please be careful out there people! The old adage, Drive defensively! applies more and more everyday. Give yourself that extra time. Give yourself that extra space. Allow yourself and your passengers that extra little bit of awareness of everything around you on the roads. Grab that extra bottle of water. But also, make sure you've got your electrolytes up to par. Most of all, have lots and lots of fun!

Been on the road all day coming to the Big Show so this is a bit late. About 1000 BC a young shepherd who would grow up to be King David is credited with having written the 23rd Psalm, the inspired word of God. Dear Lord please forgive me but the Wheel Horse Garden Tractor had not yet been created. However, if it had then the Psalmist might have written this: The Wheel Horse is my garden tractor; I shall not want. It moweth my green pastures: it leadeth me beside the still waters. It restoreth my soul: The Wheel Horse plowith the snow on the paths of righteousness. Yea, though I drive through the valley of the green tractors, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy Unidrive and thy Kohler, they comfort me. Thou preparest a Wheel Horse Collectors’ Club show before me: thou anointest my engine with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will drive a Wheel Horse forever. 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. A while back @ebin main replied to a post with his version of the Wheel Horse psalm.

There's a house about a quarter mile up that has several long haired, longhorned, Highland cattle, some sheep, a few chickens. Monday afternoon Trina and I were walking by the house about a quarter mile PAST theirs. Standing in the end of the driveway... Side by side... was two of their adult cows. A thousand pounds a piece or more. Probably 4 ft horn span. LOOSE. Just standing there watching us. They might have been 15 ft away. We went and got the girl that owns them and helped wrangle them towards the correct house some. Didn't occur to me until the next day I probably should have been a little nervous about that.

I had to make lists (not shared here ) to keep the transport straight. Some of them are “Going to the BS”, “Coming home from the BS”, and a separate, “Shopping at the BS”. I did make a strategic decision NOT to bring the roof-top bars for the car. This will probably, but not certainly, inhibit a purchase that won’t fit on the trailer or in the car. Even my wife asked, “But aren’t you leaving one tractor at the show? So you’ll have plenty of room on the trailer!” Sometimes I’m still amazed that such a smart woman was willing to marry me and stick around for 50 years (as of last week).

When I bought my GT-14 with a front end loader in PA the seller advised me to remove the front bucket because it was about six inches over the tail end of my trailer, probably saved me some aggravation.

After seeing how corn head grease works, I think it would work well in the auger gear box. I may give it a try.

Looks like it was a 401...nice horse. The deck looks to be a 1961 also. The 1960 deck would have the back wheels inside the deck. Great pictures.

Absolutely. I've been around farm animals off and on my entire life. I have a great respect for what something like a big Belgian horse or an ox or steer could do. I learned a long time ago not to fear them but RESPECT them.

I can't say as I have read the manuals but I don't see that being abnormal. I operate a pile of hydrostatic and automatic machines both at work and at home and I believe all of them do that free rolling downhill to some extent. I've just gotten in the habit of pulling back on the hydro motion control almost to the point of having it in reverse, if needed.

Those trailers with the flip up ramp really kill your fuel economy. Note that SpaceX uses things like that to slow down their rocket boosters coming back from space! If the tailgate comes off easily, leave it behind? And... To me, this SCREAMS “Back to the Future"

@953 nut I too have been more reading about battery chargers for lithium batteries. Regrettable there's a mix of conflicting info out there. Then you have Lithium battery manufacturers stating their battery is a direct replacement for the lead acid one in my jet ski. But if I read further in the same manual, they recommend using only their portable charger. Did someone not tell them jet skis have built in chargers. The lawn tractor Lithium battery I bought was on the shelf at Walmart next to the lead acid batteries. How many Walmart shoppers are going to read the manual when they've been replacing batteries for years! So I'll keep watching this from a distance for a while.
