10 pointsThe “Big Show” started out as a small gathering To avoid any copyright problems, I will just print the first couple of paragraphs and give you a link to the complete article. First-ever Wheel Horse show: It all started with the Internet. From the pages of Farm Collector Magazine, August 2000 Big Show Started Small Well, not quite. But most tractor owners at the Wheel Horse show held in southern Pennsylvania in June agreed that the magic of online communication was the driving force behind the event. “This is the second year we’ve done this,” said Don Kane, a longtime Wheel Horse enthusiast. “We decided it would be nice to get together, and we were going to have it at our house, but we were able to use the South Mountain Fairgrounds here at Arendtsville. My father was a Wheel Horse dealer in the ’60s and ’70s, so I grew up with them. My son Jeff got interested and we restored a couple of tractors together. He had a website on the Internet and this brought people together. This is actually the first exclusive Wheel Horse meet.” Don, who was born and raised and still lives in Biglerville, Perm., is a project engineer with Pfaltzgraff, the country’s oldest pottery manufacturer. He is also the first president of the newly formed Wheel Horse Collectors Club, elected during an organizational meeting held at the two-day show. A dozen of the Kane family’s collection of Wheel Horses ranging from a 1957 RJ 35 through a 1963 33-R and a 1967 Lawn Ranger L107 to a 1976 D-160 were on display at the fairgrounds for visitors to admire and enjoy. This Link will take you to the entire article. https://www.farmcollector.com/community/farm-shows/wheel-horse-collectors-group-off-and-running/

7 pointsSpent now 2 Day‘s in New York. Today‘s pedestrial trip was very long and very time consuming. i go in strong Steps but i dunno How much Miles that was. felt i would say 20-30 at least.... I was today at the 9/11 Memorial. A even sadly and truly emotional Place also for me. spent pair of Dollars in the Donation Box. After that, i do an turn into the wrong way and go directly to New yorkCity Hall. here i decided i could take a look also at China Town what where followed by the Lower East side. On delancy Street i go back to SoHo,than i decide to go back to Broadway to Washington Square Arch. if i spotted anything that catches my eyes i went there. So i run few routes twice. Greenwich Village, Broadway, Madison Square Park, Empire State Building, New York Public Library, Times Square, St.Patricks Cathedral, and rockefeller center and at least via Crysler Building back to Grand Central Station. My Feet now glows, but i spotted felt 100 cool Pictures that‘s worthy all the Pain i will maybe tomorrow have.

5 pointsThe easiest repair is coming to the show and picking up a complete trans axle. You will find a complete unit is more common than the case. The hydro pump and motor are held on by 4 or 5 bolts with a single gasket. The only thing you will find in the case is the differential assembly with the axles. I think 1 of the differential bolts broke and jammed in the case.

5 pointsAlthough many of us know each other here on Red Square by our Red Square names, we may not know who we are face to face? I was thinking of buying a roll of white duct tape and a Sharpie marker to leave on the table near the raffle prizes. You could write your Red Square name on a piece of tape and stick it to your shirt so others would know who you are. I think of this because I wondered how many times I probably walked right past someone at the show that talked to here on RS but don’t know what they look like to say hi! Thoughts? Comments?

4 pointsThis is probably going to take me forever because of the zillion other projects I have going but I figured why not get started. My goal is to return this Raider to new condition so that it can survive another 50 years. It’s gonna be put to work. spent a little time and made some decent progress. Anyone ever seen a gas tank fade/look like the color wore off? Weird!! Any ideas how to make it red again? until next time!

4 pointsJust a suggestion - a 2hr drive to Biglerville PA this Thurs - Sat might score you a set of cases or a whole transmission. If your willing to make that drive, you may wish to ask about parts here. Also placing a want add in our classifieds might score you what you need a well. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/classifieds/wanted/

4 pointsIt looks like a normal red plastic tank from here. Except for the corner that is soaked in grease. Try brake cleaner. If it doesn't clean up, paint it .

4 pointsThat 855 will be the first one loaded on the truck! The oh so fun task of loading has begun. The tractor observation deck has to be loaded onto the flatbed, then slid into Norman. I pressure washed my bed out good, will go to town for a full car wash and a lunchy snack, and I’ll be bolting it all together.

4 pointsThanks for bringing this up, Don. At my first show, I was struck that there were no name tags and I struggled. Just walking up to strangers and starting conversations is not my forte. As well, my memory works better visually so seeing someone’s name as well as hearing it pronounced helps it stick in my mind. For the last show, I made a pin-on name tag so that it would stay visibly to others and was pleased that several forum members, upon seeing the name on the tag, initiated conversations when, without the tag, it would have been a polite “walk by”. (And @c-series don was one who made the connection!) So, my add-on to Don’s suggestion is that anyone interested in connecting with fellow members gin up their own, distinctive name tag--and wear it prominently all day, every day.

4 pointsIf you use the Wind Energy and Solar Power option you can qualify for $12,000,000 in federal grants, as long as you hook up to off shore facilities...

4 pointsThe carb adjustment would be the most likely place to start being a new unit. You should also check the ignition points adjustment, you ignition timing is set by the points gap. If timing is retarded the engine will start OK but be low on power. That isn't an engine problem, tighten up the trunnion on the PTO a turn and it should help out.

3 pointsClearly, you are not retired! I need a good reason to get up by 7:30. Of course getting on the road to Gettysburg and then the Show is a good reason!
-
3 pointsThe shifting problem is why I went to an 83" belt. If memory serves me right I had to trim some metal to allow the clutch arm to swing a bit further. There is an arm mounted on the right fender that will hold the belt on the transmission pulley (sorry, no pictures) and there is one on the engine to keep the belt on the engine pulley.

3 pointsWas there water in the case that froze???? over the winter? Acts like a wedge when it expands. The same reason for crushed brass carb floats....
-
3 pointsI am selling a 1982 binder that has about 40 pages of strategic competitive pricing analysis given to Wheel Horse dealers in 1982. This is mostly hard data but what is interesting is the comparison by Wheel Horse to similar models by Ariens, Bolens, Case , Deere, Gilson, International, Jacobsen, Simplicity , and Toro! You can look at at the big show but I include some pictures here. $25 at the show!

3 pointsThe 1st thing to do is drop the transaxle part of that case, open it up and see what is wrong. There are some threads with pictures that will help you do that. A doner case or case half is in order, and maybe some parts. One of our vendors or maybe one of the members may be able to help you there. Welding is an option for the case but you need nickel welding rod and do a little at a time so as not to build up too much heat. Opening the transaxle is not a hard job and the insides are straight forward. Your horse is worth fixing. Let's see what some others have to say.

3 pointsI'm not sure on the electric capacity of the fairgrounds. With the heat, everyone who is plugged in will be running or trying to run their AC units. My wife worked at a state park a few summers. Burned up cords and a few burned up campers! When the voltage is low the amps go up and that means heat! I stay at a hotel every year and the cost is worth it when it's hot and when it rains. Pro Tip: If you run your AC either by cord or by Genny, run your fridge on gas. Your food and wiring will stay cooler. I made a few bucks the same time my wife was at the park by just turning a camper's fridge to gas. Got some good lunches too!

3 pointsFrom what I seen it was a white enamel paint pen that said waterproof/sunproof that I think was purchased at Hobby Lobby.
-
3 pointsI could still use a pick up of a motor from @grinchsr in Shelton CT to the show.. Kev has gas money for ya... Speaking of @Pullstart don't forget about that 855 going to @rj35hunter... and speaking of baths please groom it for him... BTW @19richie66 I love your sig but it takes up three pages and my scrolling wheel has a bad bearing....
-
3 pointsFear that it would be too Dry Buddy, ok i will bring A Watergun with me and you have to take Care about... 😂😎🤪

3 pointsCan you give us a better description of what you took apart. Did you jus remove the head and valve, or did you remove the piston and or crankshaft. Did you replace it with one of the aftermarket ones. Do you have the original carb? if the card is set too lean it can cause it to run hot and have power issues.
