11 pointsEarthquake tractor “Earthquake was built by Rite Manufacturing of Great Falls, Montana. They built 38 tractors. They started out redoing Wagner tractors switching them, and then they built Rite tractors from 300 to 750 horsepower.” Rite tractor was described as the first to offer an Allison automatic, infinitely variable speed, mechanical transmission. The articulated, 400 hp Model 404 weighed 45,000 lbs. and measured 15 ft., 11 in. wide with duals. Years ahead of their time, the tractors allowed the operator to “dial” in the desired speed. The transmission shifted up or down to maintain that speed. The Earthquake is one of a handful of 750 hp Rite tractors built. It later received a power boost bringing it to 850 hp. The Curtis Rite tractors featured custom cabs and Curtis designed transfer cases. Tractor cabs and hoods tilted out of the way for ease of service. They also had a patent on the hinge, which eliminated vibrations previously common in articulated tractors. “We used all standard components,” recalls Curtis. “People could order what they wanted. We used late model, low hour components to reduce costs, but added new technology as it was introduced. We had computers on the later models.” “I’ve still got a good crew ready to build another one if someone wants it,” says Curtis. “A new Rite 750 would be about $450,000 today with all new components.”

8 pointsI post a lot of pics of my Amish neighbor farming with his seven Belgium horses. Today was barley harvest day for the big corporate farmer. His operation always draws a crowd. Several of us watched for a couple hours as dozens of rabbits and a few deer escaped. One deer kept coming back to an area that had been cut. When she left the field alone, we assumed her new fawn had been hit by the machine. After they finished, I rode to the other end of the field and saw this hen with 10-12 poults. I herded them out of the field into the woods as a big planter was all ready replanting the field with soybeans. Look close and see a few of the poults about as big as a sparrow.. On the way back home as I passed the area that the doe kept returning to, there stood the doe and her fawn. It must have been laying in a depression allowing the combine to pass over its head. Quoting Mr. Frank Harvey " And now you know the rest of the story".

7 pointsDid I not learn you ANYTHING ?!?!?! My wife ....Yes ....My dog ... Maybe...My Bus... Never!
-
6 pointsOK Now that I have seen the video I understand it all. Kevin dug some holes deeper than the ones Colleen was stuck in, broke a strap while Taylor came up with alternate suggestions for the use of the bus and then while they weren't watching Jada got behind the wheel and drove Colleen out by herself.
-
5 pointsYes. If you're going to get a bus stuck, make sure you fill the bus with people to help you get it out!

5 pointsPerfect! 6.75 MPG 🤣 The day after Colleen was freed from the field, a strange man who happened to be flying a drone spotted it and had the kahonies to stop and ask if it was for sale. He wanted to drive it to Florida and build a mud truck out of it! I inquired as to why he was flying a drone over the middle of my property and politely reminded him that nothing here is for sale.

5 pointsI hear the time is running like my pulse... tic tac tic tac... Or is it my pulse - who knows. As it begins of now it will become the shortest Big Show i ever read about, because i fear - feel time will be running fast with all the Meet and greet‘s. But however - the best part ( for me) of it is, i be at it! Exciting to see Y’all. just a Several hours to depart...

5 pointsMy son made part of his deck into a sun room, so I repurposed the deck boards into a trailer floor for my horse and bucket hauler. Then gave it a coat of a kerosene/used motor oil mixture.

4 pointsCome-on Randy, that would take all the fun out of our lives. Doing stupid things and admitting it is what makes the world go round.
-
4 pointsDid my yearly inventory print-out prior to the Big Show.....that's a big list

4 pointsIt should cool off a bit when the thunder storms arrive. Typical Big Show weather.

4 pointsKevin, have you been holding out on us or did I just miss this posting. We have all been aware of Colleen's plight and awaiting her liberation from the mud. You posted a video of her getting stuck and your futile attempts to free her. You even post videos of paint drying! where is the video of her being freed?

4 pointsYou might consider using some of the 3M body panel adhesives. They should work well with preformed repair panels, or self made panels. New cars are literally glued together these days.
-
4 pointsSounds like you have a worn drive belt. Pull the cover off and see. Adding Jack the back up a see how far you can turn the rear wheels. If it is almost one complete turn you may have a broken bolt in the differential. Don't force it and break something.

3 pointsHeya i am wondering if anyone who owns a low cost welder can recommend a harbor freight or other affordable model that is decent enough for the occasional project. I have a 15 year old Subaru Forester with rusted out rocker panels and I can’t pass inspection. Unfortunately buying another car is not an option right now but if I am able to fix these rockers I should be in the clear for a few years. Yes, we have vehicle inspections in a state with the motto “live free or die”. Unfortunately the motto is more like “….die” these days. alternatively, if anyone reading this happens to be a welder located in the northeast and needs home water filtration installed I’d be glad to trade services 👍🏼 any info/advice would be appreciated. Thanks !!

3 pointsPullhosen here, Pullstart’s phone. Just checking in with a new name because my two devices keep kicking each other off the site. See y’all at the Big Show!

3 pointsGot Morgan, the 14-8 out today and mowed the yards. It is really dry, so I was constantly in a dust cloud - I probably looked like Pigpen from the Peanuts comic strip while I was mowing. Unless we get some rain, I doubt I'll need to mow for 3 or 4 weeks.

3 points2018 was aside when the Fields after we be walked thru fields for fawn saving, sadly one fawn was overseen and mowed. i Started to invest nearly 2800$ for my Thermal cam Drone Prototype. Achieved flight time 12 min. 2019 first prototype Drone flight ahead of the Mowing with a thermal camera 55 flights - no fawn mowed. 5 battery‘s passed after too extended flights and lot‘s of troubles while flight with the remote. invest 500$ 2020 improved my Thermal Drone with better batterys for longer flight time. 40 Flights - no fawn mowed. invest 800$ 2021 first Prototype Drone crashes close to the end of the 35. flight - free fall out of 70m height. - no fawn mowed. Drone was crashed completely after i found it. Invest again 3500$ for new Thermal Cam with much higher resolution - bought me a new and smaller Drone with 20 min. Continousely Flight time, new Thermal Module better Transmitter, 10 packs Batteries for extending my Airtime - 5 more Fields to fly. 2022 5 batt packs corrupted because of too extended flights ( return to home) - no fawns mowed. 2023 another 4 Batterys passed, invest again 400$ for batteries with offered longer flighttime. - no fawns mowed. 2024 until now again 4 Batterypacks passed but until now - no fawns mowed. have to invest this year again few hundrets for batterypacks. - is this sensefully? for me yes, each fawn have hopefully a great live. It‘s expensive and i do it completely volunteer, but i enjoy my results.

3 pointsBack at it finishing the soybean planting this morning. No sign of the hen and her poults or the doe and her fawn. Quite a contrast between my two farming neighbors.
-
3 pointsGeeze - looks like that rig truly needs a 5 acre field to turn around in.
-
3 pointsExactly. Thankfully by the time it failed inspection I had some income and could afford to replace it with a used ’74 Rabbit.
-
3 pointsDuring college I drove a ’66 VW Bug that was rusting. I “cleverly” patched it up with sheet metal and plywood (yeah?) and screws, bolts, rivets, etc. Thought I was cool beans. At the next NYS Inspection, it was red tagged and done. It did live on, as the local tech trade school bought it and used the engine and all the running gear in a successful Formula Vee race car!

3 pointsI had one of the cheapest 120v HF mig welders they ever made for over 20yrs, it didn’t have an amperage or speed adjust. All it had was a hi/low switch. Almost every weld I made with it was ugly as sin. That being said, I don’t ever recall one of those welds breaking. I eventually passed it on to a younger guy at work who was interested in learning to weld. I upgraded to a Hobart 220v machine and usually run on a bottle now instead of flux core. Everything is much prettier, and I can weld thicker material, but I will never rag on that little HF rig. I put a LOT of wire through it and never had any major issues. Its only weakness was welding thin material. It would constantly blow holes through any sheet metal and took lots of patience, patching, grinding, and did I mention patience. I’m not sure I would want to learn to weld on car sheet metal panels, but if you want to learn, we all gotta start somewhere. I never regretted learning to weld. In fact, I wish I would have done more of it when I was younger and had more time to tinker.

3 pointsI bought one of the HF 125 A flux core welders many years ago. I think it was on sale at $79 then. Still working well after burning about 20 lb of wire. Works best inside out of the air, and keep the wire short to keep the cover gas over the burn.
-
3 pointsYou may be able to find repair panels that can be pop riveted under the door seal. Try Keystone bogy panels.
-
3 pointsFive feet is about one rear tire rotation. Sounds like something is jamming the differential. Check the dipstick. Is the bottom end missing? Jack up both rear wheels. Spin one forward by hand. The other one should spin backwards.

2 pointsThe terminal inside of that connector is called a female Packard terminal. https://www.amazon.com/Packard-Female-16-14-Terminals-2965867/dp/B00A8X35QU/ref=asc_df_B00A8X35QU/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693270340479&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1222551592029563128&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9019452&hvtargid=pla-570008885201&psc=1&mcid=fb90625094823ba7824c421179235c30&gad_source=1

2 pointsI got it mostly put together from start to now in about 4 hours today. Still needs a few small odds and ends done to wrap it up. But this is how it will look. Put back together with all 304 stainless hardware.
-
2 pointsWith a 20 bottom plow you wouldn't need to turn around on a five acre field, one pass and you're done.

2 pointsIs the fuel line fairly new and on good shape. Ethanol gas is hard on them. Also vacuum line needs to be good behind the pump.
-
2 pointsNice. Plan on a complete fuel system overhaul. New fuel line, filters, tank shutoff with built in screen and tank grommet. Run a compression check on each cylinder (throttle wide open and choke open when testing). Plan to take the top off the carb and clean the carb, possibly more than once.

2 pointsI bought a Craftsman 1/2" torque wrench. Have a lot of tools but never owned a torque wrench. Bought this one on Amazon for $65 and it is really substantial. I will use it while changing blades. Thanks for the suggestions on stabilizing the blades while removing. I also need to download manual. I need to locate the transmission drain plug located on my '92 520H and change out fluid, will do same with oil and change plugs. Thanks again for the assistance. Still planning on bringing it in because it still surges at lower RPM's after running Seafoam through it.

2 pointsSame here. Look for the trailer with the white buckets of parts or my custom pick up. Oh, what is your name ? Or do you prefer Tractorhead?

2 pointsYours is the older (pre 73) E-PTO clutch. As pfrederi said, DO NOT use any sort of puller to remove it from the crankshaft. NOTE---If your bearings are bad, i MAY have good replacements...will have to 'measure up' to confirm.

2 pointsDid some painting yesterday! I used the new high flow setting on cans that have choice of 5 settings. Plus I painted the fronts too. And put primer on the tins.. Going to let in bake in the 90s several days this week.
