12 pointsToday’s letter is “U” Unparallel utility united with usability United Tractor United Boiler Heating and Foundry Company had been an important part of Hamond Indiana’s economy since 1916. They manufactured structural steel, sheet steel, steel pipes, ornamental iron, furnaces, boilers, and specialty castings. In 1960 they became the parent company of United Tractor with George A. Sivore as company president. Sivore was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and began building specialized tugs for the military and later branched out to include industrial tugs to move heavy loads in factories. These heavy-duty tugs were powered by the reliable Chrysler slant six engine and their 727 automatic transmission. The new division was moved to nearby Chesterton, IN, and operated as a sperate entity as United Tractor Incorporated. In 1968 United Tractor was purchased by American Industries Corporation and subsequently bought by Wedge Products in 1982 and by Kalamazoo Manufacturing in 1988. In 1995 United Tractor began manufacturing Clark tow tractors.

10 pointsNothing like fresh dairy air. Only improvement on the smell of cow manure is to mix it with the smell of diesel exhaust. Those 2 smells mixed together always remind me of my youth. People often complain about the smells coming from a farm, they rarely complain about going to the store & finding the food that they want.

9 pointsStretch of hot weather. Nothing celebrates it better than the upcoming Memorial Day weekend and the roar of loud crowd pleasing engines and the sight of speeding machines! Is it the Indy 500? Is it the World 600? HECK NO!!! It's large 4WD tractors flying up and down the road towing those giant HONEY WAGONS!!! 6AM to 9PM non stop. Then the added bonus of the smell of cow flop in the air when you want to put a window fan in to bring in some cool air at night. What a great time to be alive!!!

9 pointsSpreading some #57 crushed riverstone in prayer garden for my girlfriend. Also putting it a few other places in yard. Started with 1 ton of stone. The 953 pulled all that weight without too much trouble. Front end was a little light when I was loaded full & going uphill into backyard. Probably gotta get at least another ton tomorrow.

7 pointsHi all. We are moving rapidly to the 80th anniversary of D-Day, 6th of June. I was wondering what kind of commemorative things you may be considering. Such a pivotal moment in world history and the US played such a massive part in the liberation of Europe. We are planning displays in our community garden, a beacon lighting and band performance amongst other things. Mick.

6 pointsI don't usually observe any kind of observance for D-day in particular, but on the 7th a museum about 90 mintues from me is having their WWII weekend, complete with operating period aircraft. I haven't looked up this year's roster but they usually have at least one B-17 and one B-29 as well as a few P-91s and even some Japanese planes some years. One year there was a P-38. And one of these years I'm going to get together the money to actually ride in at least one of the bombers. https://maam.org/wwii/ One time, many years ago when I was still in middle school my dad and I went and I actually got to meet, and briefly speak with, Col. Robert Morgan, pilot of the Memphis Belle.

6 pointsNext project for the WH tractors is in back of the truck right now! This is a homemade dozer blade that popped up for sale cheap enough. The blade can be taken off and turned around. I'll have to make up a mount and lift tab but it should be easy enough. Plan to use the snow plow bracket for it. It's beefy...much heavier than the snow plows. I'll post more once it's done. This is a sneak peak!

6 pointsAlways told my kids that manure is the farmer's perfume as we drove by the local farm.

5 pointsI have room for just one tractor for the Big Show. This and my 1056 are for sale. More info in the classified ad. $650 as shown. SOLD!

5 pointsSend those drivers @ebinmaine’s address. We was just talking about cow rentals to easily spread the manure in small spaces. Winning!

4 pointsThanks jay bee! I’m happy to agree with your quote. I have lurked around in here from time to time looking for answers. I always noticed the friendly atmosphere and the desire to help whoever needs it. Also, the lack of negativity. All of these things helped me in deciding that this was a community that I wanted to be a part of. I probably won’t be in here as often as I’d like to be but I’ll definitely enjoy every minute of the time that I can.

3 pointsSeveral of us had to milk the cows before getting on the school bus, taking off your boots and coveralls didn't do much to reduce the aroma. At that time it wasn't a big deal because everyone on the bus lived on a farm.

3 pointsBuy= easy/efficient. Make anything with a BFH = WAY more fun!

3 pointsIs there no source for Air jacks ? they be mostly available at your friendly volunteer fire department. Simply talking to them and ask, or ask f they wanna do a rescue Exercice. Here they be open minded to help for such a trainee situation and if there be a Big Box of „Colored Water“ and a Barbecue after the Rescue Training, they be „ Fire and Flame“ to help. -edit- our volunteer firefighters have two the can lift up to 30Tons each. - end edit- Especial for the youngsters. Could be a win win situation for both. Just a thought

3 pointsSounds like the engine you bought was on a hydro rather than a gear jammer. You will find that your Raider will be a bit faster with the larger engine pulley but will suffer a bit on pulling power if that is of any concern to you but the 16 HP should make up for that. Is the Kohler battery ignition and the Techy a magneto ignition? If so, we can give you some guidance on rewiring.

3 pointsI use the primer bulbs on all my tractors that have the fuel tank under the seat. If the fuel pump totally fails, I replace it with an electric pump. All the mechanical and pulse fuel pumps have two check valves. Very few of them are drop tight and will allow fuel to drain back into the tank causing the pump to lose its prime. Adding a third check valve does not seem to be the answer. If you add an electric pump, you should bypass the mechanical pump to remove the risk of pumping fuel into the crankcase thru a ruptured diaphragm.

2 pointsMy grandfather used to tell me “That’s the smell of pure air” when I was growing up. And I’d always reply “yep pure as chit”

2 pointsAnd the would already be there...!!! Win Win situation!!! Breaking news... This just in: Trail cam at @Pullstart acres:

2 pointsWith the K341, you'll never notice the lack of pulling power with that setup. I have a hydro engine pulley on my C165-8 with a smaller pulley on the transmission and appreciate the definite higher top speed (7-8 mph) more than the perceived lack of pulling power. Besides, that what low range is for IF you need it. My local TSC has never given me any issue returning belts I've purchased for project like this. I have a selection of used belts I keep around so I can size up close and then will go purchase a few new ones in that range.
-
2 pointsAbout every 20 minutes. Back and forth. You can almost set your watch. This time it looked like a 20ish old male driving the tractor with a 10ish girl and a 5ish boy sitting on his lap. Doing close to 30 rounding the corner.

2 points@Easton Rich , been using this for years now , no debris , no fuel hose break down , 2 fuel filters on my 3 horses , zero , carbuncle's in filters or in carb bowls , https://www.walmart.com/ip/STA-BIL-22208-Fuel-Stabilizer-8oz/16879745? add 1 oz to every fuel tank top off after cutting , since regularly adding this to my fuels , have had no fuel issues . regularly experiment with an issue , verify every stage of it , and change it . never let my tanks go low / empty , refill right after cutting , add stabil every time . changed out all my fuel lines / related years back , since then , zero fuel hose break down , filters clean / clear , what am I doing wrong ?/ ?, that STS BIL storage , has done it for me . by carb bowles are all , clean / clear , what is that telling you ? also check my trans oil dip stick / same time , full / clean / clear . no rust or water . what am I doing wrong ? make a change to a consistent problem , track it down , just some suggestions , nothing sarcastic , regular issues , lead to , elimination , pete

2 points2 Inline filters are the way to go.............. The fine screen is nothing but problems down the road.................MY .02 cents..... from experience change to a good fuel line also , the conventional Black Rubber is an issue due to the garbage fuel they call gasoline we get nowadays !! , it breaks down internally.
-
2 pointsDid you mean the Martin B-48 bomber built after World War Two? I don't think it will fit.

2 pointsI buy my belts at Tractor Supply and if I am unsure of the size, I buy the one I think will fit and one an inch longer and one an inch shorter. Then return the unused belts. You will need to modify the belt guard so it supports the bottom loop of the belt while declutching and shifting gears.
-
2 pointsIt’s steerable now so I can easily move it around the garage. I’ll put on a few more parts to get the steering assembly rigid and then start on the motor!
-
2 pointsBuyer backed out! Back on the market! Set of WH hubcaps. The pic of the separate 8" one is the "Worst of the Bunch" $75.00. SOLD AGAIN!!
-
2 pointsyes the very fine screen on the original is much easier to get clogged, crimped, or broken. The inline fuel filter after the valve in the fuel line is a great idea.
-
2 pointsI disagree with the screen thing. Get one without a screen & run an inline fuel filter. Easier to see if it needs to be changed and easier to change.
-

2 pointsI usually yank those screens out of there and install an easy to check and replace gas filter right after the shut-off.
