Ed, it’s gotta be a bunch of politicians blowing nothing but hot air into it, what else could melt that volume of snow? 🤣🤣

Guy at works says to me “You don’t wanna fly thru Chicago on the winter, you risk getting snowed in at the airport”…I disagree! They are so well prepared here at O'Hara Airport. Watching out the window from the United lounge just confirms it for me. The dump truck is actually a hot-box that the payloaders are feeding with snow. I assume it’s parked over a pretty huge drain of some sort. And checkout those plows! Like what, 20’ wide??

Not all fords are a Ford Tractor Company was incorporated in 1915 by W. B. Ewing and Paul W. Ford. Prior to founding the company Ford worked at a hardware store and Ewing worked in the insurance business. The choice of name was an obvious attempt to capitalize on the success of the Ford Motor Company. Ewing hired tractor designer Robert Kinkaid to develop his product line, but named the company after Paul Ford.. The company may have hoped for a quick settlement with Henry Ford to acquire the name, but instead Henry Ford marketed his own line of tractors, beginning in 1916, under the brand name Fordson. Wilmot F. Crozier, who had been disappointed with the performance of several tractors he had bought including the one that had been marketed as a Ford tractor. Ford Tractor Company of the time was completely unrelated to the Ford Motor Company, and its products were of poor quality. His displeasure with the Ford tractor led to the creation of the Nebraska Tractor Test Law and the Nebraska testing facility which is still in operation today. The Ford Model B had one clime to fame, it was so bad that a law was passed to prevent others from being deceived by the manufacturer’s claims.

This is the carb from my K241 engine. See all that jelly-like sh__ in the bowl. THAT is what ethanol-gas does. I, for one, with NEVER...not EVER... use anything but Ethanol-FREE gas in my tractors.

My neighbor was out on his horse. Cleaned up the snow in my driveway. A man could get used to this. lol (Maybe you can figure out how he ended up with a horse of course) It is a nice one we drive over into OH to get it, just needed a little TLC and tires. IMG_7579.mov

Ugh... Plowing with the C-105 and all of a sudden the blade starts swinging free... Rear 3/4" cross pin sheared off... Old blade and obvious PO repair finally gave up to rust / stress... On the hunt for some hardened 3/4" and a couple shaft collars... All not lost. E-141 finished up the 3 drives i do quietly and efficiently...!

I just did my driveway 2 days ago & it was about 0 degrees out, my stock headlight has led's in it but it might as well be a candle, doesn't light up anything. I solved that problem with led's on top of the cab, SUPER bright. My cab has all plastic windows though & no heat gets in it since it's a K341,C161 & the snow doesn't stick to it. Only a little frost on the inside of the windshield from my breath but hardly noticeable. I absolutely LOVE my cab! I paid my dues for many years without one, covered head to toe with snow & ice with my eyes almost frozen shut.

Very sorry to hear this Jay. In 2014 I myself went through colon cancer. Unfortunately I had the wrong surgeon perform the operation and in 2021 I went back in to be opened up and corrected. Long road but here I am still, somebody loves me. Keep your chin up and a positive attitude and you will be back finishing up your build. If you feel the need to talk PLEASE do not hesitate to send me a PM if you need anything. @JPWH Take care. Jim

I use ethanol free gas based on my average guy experiment some years ago. Was doing a lot of interstate driving on a long trip in my 2004 silverado. 5.3 engine. Did a tank of both. The ethanol free got me about 2.5 miles more per gallon than the ethanol gas. Also felt like it drove a little stronger when making passing pulls. Nothing crazy but enough that I noticed a difference. Also have cleaned plenty of carbs with the jelly problems from ethanol sitting for long periods of time. If it's a high use vehicle getting a tank of gas every week or so I don't think it's the worse thing. But for better performance or if the vehicle will sit for a while ethanol free for sure.

3/4" round stock. Chop off the old. Chuck the stock in a lathe and cut a snap ring groove or drill and tap the end for a bolt. weld the new stock on to the spindle

I had to make room for a couple new horses, so I moved this one on down the road today. I bought her at auction in 2017 with a 48" SD and used her for mowing for 6 years. Her new job will be pushing cars in and out of an auto repair business.....nice cushy retirement duty.

Did a little plowing today after I got home from work. Predicting a significant snow event starting tonight going thru Saturday afternoon. General snow followed up with lake effect snow. Single mom lives next door. Her son is 9. There's no father figure around. He was shoveling driveway. I went over & asked if he wanted to plow w/tractor? He lit up & said "SURE!" He could just reach the clutch. He isn't strong enough to lift the plow. He did really good. He immediately figured out clutch/brake. Set idle lower & just had him use reverse & 1st. I lowerd & raised plow for him. I told his mom if I can find a cheap tractor I'd work on it w/him & he could have it. In garage making sure equipment is ready & of course having a few beers too! 3992.mp4

Guilty (and a mite envious of someone with a lathe and a milling machine and the skills to use both). I also warn neighbors that borrow my pressure washer that any children in the home should be out of sight when they use it. Why? Because with the wand in hand EVERYTHING starts to look like it needs cleaning.

Not to "Guild the Lily" as @Handy Don has accused me of - many times - how about adding a couple of shallow grooves to hold grease in the contact area?? Poor man's bearing! Kind of like I did on the lower end of the 502 steering wheel shaft....

The tractors could also be used for hauling lumber, coal, brick and other material and sometimes even switching loaded freight cars, the removal of snow from sidewalks and many other industrial uses as well. I posted these before. But as 953's article says, Fordsons were retrofitted for a lot of user applications. This one has a reinforced saddle across the rear end with a pin hitch for early semi trailers. it also has a heavier than normal front axle and a distributor ignition instead of a magneto. You could just imagine this one being used in some early shipping factory yard or freight terminal moving trailers around. It would be neat to save/refurbish an unusual one like this, but man would it be a project. It would be easier to find a running one and move the special parts over to it.

Dear Lord, your servant Jay Paxton is in need of Your healing hand. He will undergo cancer treatment and we humbly ask You be with him and his family. Turn this weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. Let them be filled with patience and joy in Your presence as they wait for Your healing touch. Guide the hands of the medical staff that will help him and guard against any infection. Please restore Your servant to full health, Lord. We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ

These photos will show you what to expect with a cab and LED headlights. As you can see the LEDs don't get hot enough to melt the snow and the only usable window in the cab is the wiped area of the glass windshield.

I’ve been following some of the posts/comments about using ethanol free fuel, and its benefits. So I thought maybe I’d give it a try. I checked the prices here locally and the best price I found was $6.50 a gallon. That’s roughly double what I pay for regular gas. Is it really worth spending that much extra money or would you be better off rebuilding or replacing the carburetor every 10 years (or whatever the time frame would be)? I recently picked up at 312–8 with 3000 hours on it. I’m sure they never used ethanol free fuel. I’m curious as to what percentage of people on this form use ethanol free gas and if they feel the value is there for the extra money.

Ya know as an avid hard water fisherman one could cut the bottoms out, extend them down to the ice with a pvc pipe. Sit there and jig thru them without the snow blowing the hole shut.

Since i have a lot of WHs that are dedicated to a specific use and therefor only get used an hour or so a year they get non ethanol fuel. Mowers and other that get major use get regular gas...at eh end of there season I star runnig non ethanol. i think storage is the issue.

Have a broken index pin on a snow plow with part of it missing. Just wondering if anyone might happen to have the dimensions for one of these so I can make a new one. Yes I see that I can order a new one & have it in a few days, but with dimensions I could have it made in 30min. Thanks

With my Gt1600 in the garage getting new brakes it seemed like the perfect time to install the stud kit I bought off Bob @rmaynard a couple years back. Checked the hub set screws while I was in there. This is a dedicated plow machine so it gets worked hard. I decided to leave my inner and outer weights on (call me lazy), it’s still a chore to get em mounted but for sure it’s easier than using the old style lug bolts. She just needs an oil change and she’ll be ready for winter. Definitely not a “pretty tractor” but it’s so dang dependable, she earned a bath with soap and all

Around here we can get NON Ethanol gas for less than a buck more than the alcohol laced stuff. BBT and I use EXCLUSIVELY NON ETHANOL in all our small engines. We also REQUIRE the two people who's machines we maintain to use NON Ethanol. I've seen rubber fuel lines heavily damaged in just a few weeks. I've seen all the examples as indicated above. I do NOT know of ANY add in chemicals that remove Ethanol from gas. I do NOT believe adding anything to gas eliminates the negative effects of Ethanol. I do believe that proper storage and immediate use of Ethanol gas is acceptable IF that's the only option or if the NON Ethanol gas is too expensive. Would I pay $6.50 a gallon? No. If I lived anywhere I had access to NON Ethanol gas within a reasonable time period of travel I'd get several 5 gallon containers and buy a few times a year. Long term storage seems fine.

Ethanol shortens fuel line life. Ethanol rated fuel line is quite expensive. Ethanol attracts moisture and attacks the metals long term in a carburetor and metal fuel tanks. I have seen fuel bowls with ethanol fuel and Stabil mix look like pink jelly. Several stations around me ethanol free gas for about a buck a gallon more than the 10%. Ethanol also has fewer BTU's than regular unleaded so you use more to get the same amount of power.

I have used 10% ethanol in everything(2 and 4 stroke outboards, tractors, autos) for many years. Never have any problems. I do try to keep fresh fuel in the tanks and mix a special cocktail for long term storage.

Many municipalities are using the snow melters. They got to get rid of it somehow. Either truck it to who knows where with many trucks or plant a few of these babies in strategic locations and send it down the storm drain. https://www.interstatepm.com/on-site-snow-melting/

I converted my house to all LED about 7 years ago (give or take) after the price of bulbs became reasonable.I'm always looking for ways to save a buck , was well worth it cut about 20-30% off my electric bill - esp after I did the 4ft ballast in the garage and shed. The CFL lights I was glad to see go- the warm up time on those annoyed me. There is somewhat of a learning curve with LED, getting the right spectrum - brighter whiter for laundry room over the sink or work lights in the garage vs the warm yellower light like incandescent for living areas. Really can be frustrating after 100 years of just grabbing a box of the watts you need - the nice thing with LED in ceiling fixtures they burn way cooler , no more 200 degree bulb next to your rafters . https://www.e-education.psu.edu/egee102/node/2035
