Some of the usual things, socks, pants, cologne. Then I got some stuff for the Ram that I bought a few months ago. My son over heard me talking about the fact that when I had the camper hooked on I could not open the tail gate all of the way because it would hit the jack on the camper. If the hitch was only a 1/2" longer it would solve the issue. He was nice enough to gift me a new hitch that is about an inch longer with an extra bonus of being rated a bit higher than my old one. Wife set me up with a set of form fit seat covers for my Ram.

We have some traditions in the Squonk household. 1st. my son will forget to label a present so he has no idea who it goes too. Yes it happened again. 2nd. My wife will lose a present so she goes crazy tearing the place apart trying to find it. Yes it happened and she found it! 3rd. My wife likes to play a trick on me so she wrapped an Olive Garden gift card in a spaghetti box, and a Lowes card in a Band-Aid box. On with the good stuff: New Monitor for my puter Tool heavy. Borescope, Oscilliscope, blind hole puller and new ROKU to watch the Vikings lose. A finally the best one that almost brought me to tears. My wife got on the computer and got this picture of our dear friend Stormin. She knows how much I miss him on out Skype sessions and she misses hearing his voice. She took it to Walgreens and they made it into this framed picture. It's going to go up on the wall right next to the chime clock nORM hated. He would have to take his headphones off when it chimed. MERRY CHRISTMAS nORM!

I got a Sneaky Pete holster, a jar of pickles and jar of marshmallow fluff. The pickles and fluff is a throwback to about 30 years ago. We lived in the Philippines and some of the items we have here in America were difficult to find there. I'd get our kids something that was imported (from the States) and always rather expensive. Often times it was a food item. Therefore, my daughter gives me pickles and marshmallow fluff every year. By the way, a few weeks ago I wrote about medical problems my 88 year old mom was experiencing. Things weren't looking good for her. I picked her up at what I call the "ICU section" of her nursing home today and she joined us for Christmas! If things go well she will be returning to her assisted living apartment this week.

Nothin like spending Christmas out in the shop. Glassed a head and worked on a K301 build. My fav a SG motor. Valves looked a little dicey after lapping so new ones on the way. Just a re-ring on the bore.

With all due respect I VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE. .... Black is ONLY a standard hot color in 120+ volt systems. In those setups green is ground/neutral. In 12 VOLT systems BLACK is industry wide standard for the installers and manufacturers to use: BLACK AS THE MAIN GROUND Red is hot on every 12V I've ever seen. That's NOT just for battery cables. After the MAIN circuits of red and black every color is used so the schematic diagram can be deciphered more easily. THAT'S due to the sheer and utter stupidity of the builder. Absolutely agreed!

I won't drive in the winter without snow tires. I've driven front wheel, rear wheel, & 4 wheel drive vehicles all of which always ran snow tires. With 4wd obviously getting moving is easy but the advantage of snow tires becomes so noticeable when braking , steering, etc. Years ago I was a service manager at a BMW dealership. Swapping out to winter tires (actually what they are called now) was common for most of the customers. I later started working at a Ford dealership. The technicians there asked why I put winter tires on my front wheel drive vehicle. One snowy day I let a technician borrow my car to pick up lunch. He was amazed at the improvement in a every aspect of traction. I'm still friends with all 6 techs that worked w/me. Guess what??? All of them run winter tires on their vehicles & spouses vehicles now. For years I drove a Crown Vic Police Interceptor with 4 winter tires. I never added any weight to the trunk. I towed 2 snowmobiles on a trailer all the time. Drove plenty 2wd trucks also. Been driving over 37yrs installing winter tires on my vehicles & never have I said "I wish I had 4wd" I'll take any type of front or rear wheel drive w/winter tires over a 4wd with all season tires. My son has a 2021 Subaru Outback w/Blizzaks.....it's a beast in the snow! My daughters 2022 Grand Cherokee also has Blizzaks....again, almost unstoppable. I get around all winter in Ford Focus (my Cadillac sits all winter) swapping over to winter tires. My kids drive nicer cars to work than me! Lol!

Eric is correct……LED lights don’t like the unregulated AC from the low powered charging systems on the mid-eighty’s tractors. I tried to put a set on my 314-8 and they would overheat and shut down after a few mins of use. I have since swapped the stator over to a 15A system with a regulator and they work fine now. I could have rewired the lights to run directly off of the battery, but I wanted the higher amp charging system because I needed it to handle the electrical load of a Johnny bucket as well

Smoked Deviled Eggs. To make this it is best to have outside temps of 35f or less. Today, Christmas Eve in North Central Wisconsin it was about 45f but I decided to risk it anyway. Make up your Deviled Eggs as you normally would. (We mix the yolks with yellow mustard, Hellmanns mayo, salt & pepper.) After you have your Deviled Eggs made, sprinkle some paprika on them, add some crushed cook bacon and a thin slice of fresh Jalapeno. Now cold smoke your eggs for 2.5 to 3 hours. These things are like crack to me, I ate half a dozen myself today.

Messed around with my early Christmas present to myself. First test cuts. Nothing is glued down yet. Going to get some red, white, grey stains and try that. Hope to keep the wood grain.

@ebinmaine I haven’t been on in a while so just now saw this. With a few modifications that table/cart could be made into something nice. When I bought my welder I looked at several options for carts to make it portable, but none of them really were what I was looking for, and like you I wanted a portable work station as well. So I ended up building my own, much heavier duty and I could tailor it to my exact needs.
