11 pointsWhen I was a child, every Christmas eve, my mother made oyster stew for dinner. I never cared for it, so after she and my father passed, my wife and I decided to start a new tradition and make Cream of (Maryland) Crab soup. It's been a big hit now for the last 25 years. Here is my recipe: Ingredients: 6 tbsp butter 1 small onion, diced 2 small potatoes, pealed and medium diced 2 tsp Old Bay seasoning 1 tbsp dry mustard 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 4 cups half & half 2 cups whole milk 1 pound of Jumbo Lump Maryland crabmeat 2 tbsp dry sherry 2 tbsp chopped parsley In a large soup pot, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add onions and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Add potatoes, Old Bay, and mustard. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring often, until potatoes are just barely tender, about 30 minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in flour, salt, and pepper. Return to medium heat and stir constantly for 2 minutes. Slowly pour in half & half and milk, stirring constantly. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, until thickened. Add crabmeat and simmer for additional 15 minutes. When ready to serve, add parsley and sherry if desired. Bon appetit! 🦀 1998 price to make the soup was approximately $15.00 2019 price was approximately $30.00 This year my cost is right around $50.00 Merry Christmas to all.

5 pointsNot seeing it in person and not knowing what the generator was intended for I can only explain what a (basically) identical switch was used for on an Onan generator in our motorhome. It has nothing to do with the voltage output but it's to split the load so the generator isn't overloaded. The concern was that we had two rooftop AC units and the 5500w generator could only run one at a time. So through that switch I could select the front unit, the back unit or both but in the 'both' position it had to be on shore power. The contacts tend to pit and I eliminated it all together allowing everything to operate on both shore and generator power. I just had to remember that only one AC at a time on gen power. Winnebago included a wiring diagram but it's long gone. On RV's with only a 30 amp service and two AC units the switch will have more positions to select from. A 30 amp service won't run both units so you could select one unit on the generator and one unit on shore power.

5 pointsI like it......very similar to the Johnnie bucket. I find mine super useful for hauling and dumping things around the property. Having that powered lift is key, weather its hydro or linear actuator Here is mine at work after having a tree cut down and stump ground out. Worked awesome for moving the debris and then back dragging the fresh dirt to grade

4 pointsYes, it’s different but has same end result in a power outage. You get the entire breaker panel fed. I built my house before the interlock kits were “invented” so I have a 200a whole house manual transfer switch. It’s nice to be able to have lights on anywhere in the house or open any garage door without running cords all over. Plus I have heat/hot water, well pump, kitchen fridge, beer fridge, freezer, coffee maker etc. Can even fire up a burner on my electric stove! we don’t use the oven (although my generator would support it) or the electric clothes dryer. Transfer switch is on the far left.

3 pointsTire swapping time today for the 522xi. Out with the old stock dry rotted tires and on with the 26x12x12 Kenda Terra Tracs and a leftover set of 20x8x8 Carlisle Turf Masters for the front. They all fit great with no mods. I was a little worried about those Kendas fitting under the rear fender, but there is plenty of clearance without raising the tub. I still want to fill them with fluid, but that is not a December in PA project. Beyond that, here is a PSA.......if you ever decide it is a good idea to use tire slime and it is NOT a life or death emergency situation, there is a special place in hell for you. Patch it, plug it, tube it, but please don't slime it. Damn I hate that crap. It was in 3/4 of the tires I swapped today and it was everywhere by the time I was done. My garage looked like someone flung spoonfuls of neon green mayonnaise all over the place. I also took the time to swap from lug bolts over to studs and lug nuts. That is something I should have done 20yrs ago on my other tractor. I'm happy with the results.

3 pointsThat's the same I've had in there too. BUT, think it was 702Bill that mentioned about the teeth not being hardened. It did wear the tips but still had enough to keep rolling with the chain. There isn't much room in there and you can get a nicer larger 17 tooth with a good bearing but it would need to fit on the inside of the chain loop or it hits the other 2 sprockets. That takes away more teeth contact of the chain from the small drive sprocket, which is exactly where I was having issues with the chain lifting up and wearing the tips of the sprocket down. Even the centrifugal force of the chain spinning will try and lift it up. Then after a while the worn teeth would force the chain outward too until it pops the master link off. Now, I firmly believe the majority of the problem was using that cheap chinese chain from TSC. It stretches and this was easily confirmed by holding a used one next to a new length of chain. The same amount of links on the used one was much longer than the same amount of links on a new piece. Plus the rollers were all loose and you could even see a space from the edges of the rollers to the side links. The chain looks like it was used to lift big trucks off the ground. This year, going no tensioner at all and a good quality #40 chain installed tight enough that it doesn't appear to need a chain tensioner. Or, at least that's the plan going in. It's possible this one might stretch a little too which then doesn't leave anyway to adjust it tighter. The next step will be to "beef up" a little where the 90 deg gearbox mounts as I noticed it bent a little from the chain load and misaligned the sprockets a little. Again, I might be abusing mine a little more than most would as it gets loaded heavy in that wetter snow which keeps it from clogging as much. That 20hp Onan gets a grunting sometimes and especially so at the end of the driveway from the DOT plow piles. I'm not interested in having any additional seat time when it's freezing cold out there!!!!! I need to get it done and the vehicles out so everyone can get to work on time. It's not bad when it can get done in the evenings or on weekends but those overnight storms during the week are a real pain. (Then we get to the job site only to find the customers still sleeping and nothing done with their driveways! LOL)

3 pointsI think this is what Sparky is talking about Eric. Interlock Kit & Accessories For Your Home | Generator Interlock Kit A very simple install and UL Listed. The only real electrical work would be to jocky the circuits around so you can get the generator breaker in the right location. It's what I use and I love it. It's an interlocking device. If the main is on you can't turn the generator breaker on and vice-versa. I didn't purchase it from the company I went with a Square D simply for the sake of keeping everything Square D QO. It happened to be considerably less money too.

3 pointsGot the chain and tensioner in the post. The old chain is worn so badly it'll stretch and compact about a half inch in a 22.5" length span. Wow. I cut the new chain to the same length as the old one figuring with the looseness vs this new chain I'd be fine. We'll see. @JCM here's the chain breaker I meant to show you the other day.

3 pointsI don't know if it helps or applies to your Kohler set, but my old Onan gen-set has a continuous and an idle setting where the RPM only increases to 3600 (60 cycle) when it sees a load. It also fed 12VDC back to charge the battery. Agree with Bill, the rotary switch seems to be a voltage control.

3 pointsYes sir I am certain of that. I don't want a refund. I want what I ordered. One could effectively argue that regardless of site if it is not actually for sale (available) then it should not be on your respective site for sale. NOT the case as we all know. "Sure we will take your order/money" then... Out of stock... What the heck! I have bought and sold a lot. I have never sold something I didn't have! That being said I trust and respect our fellow members/vendors so not an issue... Here

3 pointsPutting together an attachment that uses an existing, mounted, Wheel Horse snow plow frame. The plow and turn handle is removed via the 3/4" swivel bolt. The attachment is simply slid into place and attached using the 3/4" bolt. This unit incorporates a front plow frame anti sway attachment. The anti sway attachment can be left on the plow for either the blade or bucket to stabilize the front during use There is a short video using it to dip a some stone. I tested my hydraulic lift with 300 lbs. and it worked good. If there is enough interest, I was thinking about putting together 3 for the show in June. You will need your own plow frame. C series or 300 400 500. I am trying to get the cost inline but as of now $700 and that includes the stabilizer. PM if interested.

3 pointsNice job! I built a similar "garden bucket" for my GT 14 using ATV bucket and linear actuator. Its good for about 300 lbs. too. Bucket just dumps but considering adding an actuator to the bucket too. Works fine for my needs and under $1000. I definitely had to add weights off the back for traction even though a GT 14 is a heavy tractor.
-
3 pointsNice! I've discussed this with a few members on here over the years about doing a small basic bucket on a plow frame. Kind of like a "Po man's" bucket type of thing since most would like a FEL but don't really need all of that, whereas a small tilting front bucket would be plenty useful and adequate.

2 pointsThis is my 1976 C-120, has had a nut and bolt restoration. Everything was redone on it except for the engine. Recent service done to it, new plug, and full synthetic oil change. Runs/mows and drives flawlessly. Has a K301 Kohler engine, doesn't burn oil and is smooth running. The mower deck is a 37" side discharge, and was repainted, and has had two idler pulleys installed. Spindles are basically new, super quiet deck. Recently just replaced the mower deck belt as well. Has wheel weights inside the wheels. Good show machines or worker. Never mowed with until last week. Needs nothing. 1200 or best offer, worst I can say is no. Or, will trade for a decent zero turn or a Wheel Horse 520-H in close to same shape.

2 pointsIm in no rush, tractor has sat almost 20 years, im sure it will need 4 new tires by now, im just tired of forgetting it exists for years at a time🤣. I just want to do it right, because how it was, wasn't right

2 pointsOK - I'll take a stab at it..... How many positions on the rotary drum switch?? At least two ...I figure it is a 110 volt or 220 volt selector - the volt meter goes up to 300.... The field coils are wired to it - 110 half are used, all are used on 220. Just got done replacing the 110 volt motor on the milling machine with a comparable 110/220 model - wiring from the 3 position drum switch was a bit of a challenge.... had to make a C-face adapter and shaft reducer.

2 pointsI once ran across a supposed study that compared two weather forecasting theories and found then to be pretty much equal. The two methods? 1) The weather tomorrow will be the same as the weather today. 2) The local TV weatherman forecast.

2 pointsI dont see why not! Anybody have a busted one for a model???? We could even make them a little thicker and heavier depending on the failure point.
-
2 pointsNo, just wa-wa then click, click. Just bought a 300 cca from wally world. We'll see how that stands up. I probably should get a tender as well.

2 pointsI would sell the pulley. Shoot me a pm and we’ll talk about it. As far as a tag, I do not have my transmission any more as I converted it to the Eaton 1100, even more rare in a GT14.
