20 pointsYesterday was a roller coaster of emotions with the day starting with a sad goodby at the funeral of one of our hunting camp members. Then to our lifelong friends for our daily visit. She has been wheelchair bound and suffering from dementia for 5 years. He is being challenged with the 24/7 care she requires. Then the frustration of the crowd and long lines at the grocery store. Then to the gym for an hour sweat and tension relief. Then back home to get ready for the early Christmas Party for Owen. Our youngest Grandson, Owen, is in his 3rd year and a manager for the Penn State football team. He came home yesterday after spending a week packing two 53' semis with the teams uniforms, pads, weight and training equipment, and Christmas tree , decorations, and gifts for the staff families that will be spending Christmas in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl. He went back to Penn State this AM to prepare for the Sat. team flight to Atlanta. Owen will be with the team in Atlanta till after the game next Sat. and then pack it all up for the move back to Happy Valley. His parents and Brother will be joining him next week at the game. Needless to say, we are very proud of Owen for working his way thru school. He is a business major with a 3.6 GPA. I suspect he will be employed by Penn State after graduation. His father also graduated from Penn State with a Mechanical Engineering degree. His brother, Clayton, will graduate from Penn State this spring with an Accounting degree and a 4.0 GPA. Clayton also works for Penn State organizing the schedule of events in the indoor Bryce Jordan Center. Our oldest Grandson, Reed, graduated from Penn State in 2020 with degrees in Astro Physics and Astro Engineering. He also worked at PSU year round analyzing and cataloging Hubbel Telescope photos of new stars. He worked for a couple years at the Hershey Medical Center and is now doing his Astro Physics Graduate work at Lehigh University while working as a Prof. assistant. Our fourth Grandson, Jake, will graduate from Gettysburg College this spring with degrees in Music and Environmental Science. He has been very involved in marching, concert, and jazz bands at G burg. He will probably be returning to his High School in some capacity in teaching music and band directing. It was a great early Christmas Eve with Owen last evening and I am looking forward to spending time with my other three Grandsons on Sundays Christmas Eve. Sorry for the long post, but as I walk down the final leg of my trail, I am so pleased to see these youngsters starting the hike on such a positive note. Hoping for a Merry Christmas for You and Your Family.

16 pointsPutting together an attachment that uses an existing, mounted, Wheel Horse snow plow frame. The plow and turn handle is removed via the 3/4" swivel bolt. The attachment is simply slid into place and attached using the 3/4" bolt. This unit incorporates a front plow frame anti sway attachment. The anti sway attachment can be left on the plow for either the blade or bucket to stabilize the front during use There is a short video using it to dip a some stone. I tested my hydraulic lift with 300 lbs. and it worked good. If there is enough interest, I was thinking about putting together 3 for the show in June. You will need your own plow frame. C series or 300 400 500. I am trying to get the cost inline but as of now $700 and that includes the stabilizer. PM if interested.

15 pointsI was offered this vintage machinists tool box by @Handy Don who was kind enough to even bring it to me. It is from the 50s. It was missing two drawers and at some time in its life it was exposed to water. Some veneer in back had delaminated and broken off. As soon as he offered it I knew right away its future function. My oldest son has given similar machinists boxes , but in metal to each one of the boys. So I am giving this one to my granddaughter. She can keep her little stuff in it and it can also be a future jewelry box. It’s Union Tool Chest model B20 from 1950. It is stamped on the interior with number 394 which I am sure it’s the serial #. Made two new drawers and repaired veneer. Also lined all the drawers with new felt this time lining the entire inside surface of drawers . Removed the old damaged finish , restained it and applied some wipe on poly . Finally cleaned and reinstalled all hardware. Even found a reproduction factory tag for it. I just need to find two correct little pulls for new drawers. Rather than being discarded it now will have a new life and purpose for at least another generation. Thank you @Handy Don Before After Before After

9 pointsNice! I've discussed this with a few members on here over the years about doing a small basic bucket on a plow frame. Kind of like a "Po man's" bucket type of thing since most would like a FEL but don't really need all of that, whereas a small tilting front bucket would be plenty useful and adequate.

8 pointsIn my humble opinion the generations of Americans have now had the drive up mentality embedded in their psyche! “Have it your way” and “you deserve a break today” have distorted peoples understanding of the real world. Things go wrong, ask questions , respect others when you are not sure 🤔 what happened and want to know So easy to have a hissy fit when you don’t get your way. Quick delivery of items by trucks to your doorstep is just an extension of the drive up and the have it your way. Social media platforms made it easy to post your way of looking at the world. But the quick, unfiltered delivery 🚚 of messages without caring for the consequences still leaves marks and traces of the person you have become and the harm you have perpetuated. I recall helping Lowell when he first started making his great lift cables for the various model Wheel Horse tractors. Lowell makes them better than Wheel Horse or Toro did and they should outlast the tractor. When I saw the quality I was impressed. I bought some. When he wanted help I helped him. He sent me a couple free cables for helping. I saw the post on the site disparaging Lowell and his business and was disappointed and upset. But I knew the post was made with the drive up/get it you way mentality that has changed the way people act.

6 pointsWe loaded up the Cherokee on a U Haul car transport trailer at our Mi. location last night and took off for our Mo. location about sunrise this morning. Went through St Louis about 5pm local time, which is about sunset as well. Another 3 hours west, and we arrived at our winter quarters. The Ram with a 5.7 Hemi got just under 14mpg for the trip.

5 points@Pullstart while sitting on the beach do you find yourself wondering what WH model and what set of tires would go best in the sand ? Are you thinking of your next project.... a dune buggy Wheel Horse ????
-
4 pointsJust relaxing in garage. Wheel horse hauled some firewood in. I’m sitting in my recliner next to the wood burner, with my chocolate lab “Ruger” on my lap. He’s already snoring. lol.

3 pointsSpeaking of coffee EB ever try this? I think @Pullstart turned me on to it not sure. He's a Trager fan. I had it on Bambi meat the other day but really couldn't taste the coffee part. Almost think I had some better cowboy coffee rubs in the past.

3 pointsNice job! I built a similar "garden bucket" for my GT 14 using ATV bucket and linear actuator. Its good for about 300 lbs. too. Bucket just dumps but considering adding an actuator to the bucket too. Works fine for my needs and under $1000. I definitely had to add weights off the back for traction even though a GT 14 is a heavy tractor.

3 pointsPerspective I think... I have an order from them since June. No idea when it will get here and they have no idea when they will receive form their vendor. All parties are civil and AWARE. Not a big deal at all. People... Some of them are seemingly impossible!

3 pointsIt is Sylvia... totally unexpected. Here's another one. 'Bout a week and a half ago this guy...on FB... not a collector/restorer comes upon a garage sale with tubs of horse parts in it so he buys them. Goes on a FB horse site and offers them up for sale. So I spy a one piece 701/702 one piece tank... no dash but not a deal.breaker... and the hens teeth 702/753 steering wheel. I him haw abit and he him haws abit but then comes back with a counter offer substantially LOWER than what I offered. Deal I says thinkin in case my 502 tank sealing procedure goes south. I get the stuff BEFORE he gets my check. Tank is choice but steering wheel has a bent spoke but totally restorable. Hellofa nice guy. So since my 502 tank sealing was successful I may pass the stuff on unless @Achto has a use.

3 pointsOK hold on here before we put down everybody on FB. I joined this group... vintage electronic test equipment. Guys show & tell about ther old stuff. Old Simpson 260s come up often @squonk Anyhoo they post stuff for sale and I have this old oscilloscope from way back when I was in the service and into electronics. I'll never use it again so I ask what's it worth. Most said little to nothing which is what I supected. Give it to a budding tech they said. Guy by the name of Earl in OH offers me 60 shipped. Done I says. Just wanted it gone and to a good home. Turns out he restos vintage radios. So he sends me a piece of USPS that cost him 10 bucks to send. Inside is a nice letter and a Franklin! Wow and a calendar with restoed vintage muscle cars. We got into some nice PM conversations where I mentioned I do vintage GTs. Great guy. Gotta half a mind to send him free my old 260 I'll never use.

2 pointsI know you know the weather person can be wrong and still have a job...
-
2 pointsI was reading earlier today that the patterns are changing over the next two weeks. Likely we'll get plenty of seat time 😉. No sir I hadn't ain't but the Head Cooker BBT is sure to hear about it!
-
2 pointsDid mine with wood. Plastic was toast and $80+ to replace. Got a chunk of REAL hard wood(some kind of exotic) from a pallet at work. End grain for the ware. Replaced the #40 chain as well. Working great so far. Got a thread on it here somewhere.
-
2 pointsYou capture it well, Ed, thanks. I took a hike a couple weeks ago to a spot near me where the view is amazing. The guide noted this was among the few places where one could see in one glance the results of three distinct eras in geological history, the oldest many millions of years old and the newest only a few tens of thousands. I took a moment to remind myself how brief my lifespan is against that kind of time. Yet, we each and every one of us do matter. The parents of those “grands” of yours probably got some good parenting somewhere along the way, too. 😉
-
2 pointsThanks! Funny you mention that. Wheelies if not careful. I will be addressing some added free weights up front. I'm usually the dumb end of the stick... rope... tractor... So what you're saying is my rear end is heavier than my poor decisions...? I represent that...
-
2 pointsNahh. .... Get a person to stand on the front axle. Selection of person based on factors to include fear and possible bad decisions.
-
2 pointsLowell’s hydraulic hoses are in my near future. Might as well replace them all while I’m at it.

2 pointsWe traveled to our Mo. location today. Left Mi. about sunrise, got here well after dark. I wished one of the server's at a Bob Evans resturant we stopped at 'happy winter solstice.' Got a really confused look from her, until I pointed that tonight will be the longest of the year.
-
2 pointsNice.......that looks like a fun winter project that will make an excellent tractor when its done.
-
2 pointsYes, my poor old Work Horse that I bought back last year. It has donated the parts to make my 520H into a 520-8 so it will get switched into a hydro with an Eaton 1100 and all the associated hydraulics from the 520. That will be next winters project. Don't worry, the yellow wheels are already off and I sold the deck for more than I paid for everything so it's a freebie until I start throwing parts at it.
