6 pointsI see that the FB thread has been deleted, but I don't care who you are, you don't have the right to disparage another person or business. This is what's wrong with society today. FB allows people the opportunity to be a bully and not have to show their face. Obviously this person has no idea what it is like to run a business. Compared to Lowell, my little brake lining business is peanuts. I have a great reputation on eBay, but there is always that one buyer, who because of no fault of my own, and the never ending issues with shipping, wants the world to think that I am a terrible seller. Therefore, when I saw the post about Lowell being a scam, I had to react. Those of us who know Lowell, know that he is anything but a scammer. Keep up your good work Lowell.

6 pointsAnd I thought I was good at packing parcels, that one us a beauty! Can't believe the guy git huffy about something he was getting for free! Facebook is just a great way for ignorant A-holes to show the world just how arrogant, ignorant and downright nasty they can be. I leave it to them as I value my mental health. Lol

5 pointsI have pretty much been in the "parts side" of business since 94. I have over 200 vendors in my book at work. You don't keep a hospital running by driving down to Lowes. I know who to call for what. We needed a steam pressure regulator the other day for an emergency and got it within hours. I also have "fired" vendors for various reasons also. I Love Lowell and Joette and the kids. Good people. I had an issue a while back when I ordered something and it didn't come. Called Joette personally and it was discovered it was lost in USPS. She sent another part and it was all good. She told me her USPS office was terrible there. USPS seems to be a continuing theme. Seems to me the solution is to "fire" USPS and Try maybe UPS. I think I've had 2 issues with them all these years. Sure they cost more. So charge more for shipping. Funny thing. USPS gets bashed. I sent our dear late friend Stormin in England a valve and a belt. I was kind of nervous sending stuff across the pond. Norm got the parts in less than 10 days. I couldn't believe it.

5 pointsMy wife has a Facebook account so I have access two Wheel Horse sites there though her account. I usually just go to see what is for sale and never post anything in the discussion sections. One thing I noticed there is the people can be downright nasty to one another. Once I see that, I’m out. I immediately think you won’t see that on Red Square, and if you do those people quickly get put in their place or removed from the site. This is why there’s only nice people here, and this is why it’s pretty much the only social media I’m interested taking part in. Remember the old Honda commercial? It said you meet the nicest people on a Honda. Well I’d like to say you meet the nicest people on Red Square!!! 👍🏻🙂

4 pointsYep, I saw all that drama yesterday. The guy actually posted his same rant on a couple different FB tractor groups. It was nice to see Lowell’s response with the facts.

3 pointsSoooo ... If you get the Washington Post delivered by USPS, I suppose the November 28th edition should be arriving soon.... !

3 pointsI'm another non-Facebook user. My wife has an account that she uses to keep tabs on the family. She very rarely posts anything on it. I'm on this forum, a toy train forum, and a R/C boat forum. All carefully chosen mainly for the friendly climate with the other forum members. I've often stumbled into various forums when doing internet searches on other subjects. A lot of them seemed to be populated by rude folks who seem to need to criticize, berate, and otherwise run down other's ideas. I have no desire to join into an environment like that.
-
3 pointsI saw that post as well, I’ve threatened many times to delete FB for reasons exactly like that. Only reason I keep it is for my daily scan through Marketplace looking for another deal (though I think that reason is why Courtney wishes I would delete it )

3 pointsAJ As you can see much help here for you.I think you are ahead of the game with the K181 engine. The Teckys can be a bit fussy engine if you do not have a good carb meaning original or lucky over the big pond carb. I have had my share of them. some where very good and some where bad. I hope you enjoy the tractor. All so enjoy the ride.

2 pointsI don't Face Book religiously. I primarily set up an account more to follow my Submarine brethren and my interest in old Navy ships and WWII stuff and historical aircraft. Naturally I found some sites but this one really had my goat. Some guy had the stones to actually call Lowell and Wheel Horse Parts n More a scammer. Many responses there that are no longer visible but the majority of us stuck up with Lowell. Turned out Lowell had researched his order and it was hung up in some USPS center and no fault of the vendor. You guys know how the USPS can be. Anyway this guy slandered Lowell's operation before knowing any facts and its this kinda BS that leads me to believe you can have your FB crap and stuff it @AMC RULES. Don't worry bro i still love you. It's just these idiots that you hang out with. Bob Maynard knows what I am yaking about.

2 pointsYou are right about engines having their own personality, I have a couple you don't even need to choke to start. I have two 18hp Briggs, and I barely have to choke them.
-
2 pointsHe has a trickle charger and uses it. I'll see how often. It does eliminate the question.... Yes.... But it doesn't explain WHY the battery goes dead unless it's purely from excess starting time. We're not used to the Low Amp systems and we nearly always have a tractor running for several minutes minimum.
-
2 pointsI would suggest a battery tender. Eliminate the question and add much life to the battery. Quick disconnect. They charge and then automatically go to float mode. I use these and they are great.
-
2 pointsI have an 1848 and during the summer there have been several times I have shut it off and restarted it constantly and didn't have a problem charging even with an older battery. Don't know if that helps. Maybe check out how it is charging at the battery while running. Do you think the owner may be choking it to much and flooding it??

2 points@peter lena Posting a link to a lube product you like/recommend on Amazon or anywhere else is fine Pete. Keep it up please!

2 pointsAnother 'ags and tri ribs' guy here, that's whats on Hoss in my profile pic. Rears are Deestones and just like everyone else has said, they run small. Very stiff sidewall too. They are loaded and hook up pretty good, and the less air I run the better, currently sitting at about 2psi. Something else to think about if you're in a situation where you need serious bite is ATV tires. I run 26x9-12 MassFx 'dirt devil' knockoffs and 19x7-8 SunF power 2s on the B1, which is similar to a Bighorn. Sidewall flex is EVERYTHING for getting a big contact patch and 'wrapping' around stumps, rocks or tree branches n logs. Obviously not going to see terrain like that in your yard or driveway, but the big contact patch will still make a big difference. These will do 10 times more work than the Deestone ags, and theyre not even close to an aggressive model.....but they dont look as cool as ags and tri ribs

2 pointsLowell @wheelhorseman is a vendor on Red Square and has lots of good quality parts you may need. Here is a link to the boot, check out the rest of his site also. https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product/wheel-horse-3577-shifter-boot/

2 pointsMy wife is on facebook all the time and is constantly aggravated about the stupid reposting people do, who cares what someone you don't even know is having for lunch anyway! I let her filter out the junk and she shows me posts from my family members. When it comes to shipping I have Been there, Done that. I was responding new member on here on here who needed a couple of seals I had a bunch of for a Kohler. Got his address and put them in one of those padded USPS approved shipping envelopes. I didn't charge him for the seals and I even paid for the shipping. Well the tracking indicated that they made it to the USPS hub in Greenville SC and never went any further. Guy gets all huffey with me about the whole thing, sends a couple PMs that weren't too nice, even posts a nastygram on here (moderators took it down in no time ). When it was apparent that the post office wasn't going to deliver the seals I packed up a couple more seals and packaged them in a manner that even the post office couldn't screw-up. He got them in two days and was never heard from again on Red Square.

2 pointsYes, the wiring and fuel line will be addressed this weekend!! I wasn’t impressed with what I saw when I first looked at the tractor….

2 pointsYours for 10k Sylvia and I doubt you have to outbid Pullstart who has dibs. No extra charge for the barn dust the clothes line does not keep off. Those are pricey Firestone 23s ... figured a would take them over a electric jobby..
-
2 pointsA little more info for you. This manual will cover everything you need to know about your Kohler engine.
-
2 pointsIt's a 657 turned into an 857. Nice upgrade. I'd clean up that wiring and what I think is a fuel line stretched across the blower housing. Fuel line should run under it. Rub it all down with some boiled linseed oil and it will shine up nice.
-
2 pointsI use a 6 gallon ultrasonic off amazon, i put in 1/2gal simple green, 1/2gal zep citrus, 1/3gal Stages20, then top with water. I can clean for a long long time on that mix.
-
2 pointsInstalled two decals on the hood stand plate and loosely installed (screws are not tight to allow paint more time to cure). Loosely installed the shift plate with a printed out laminated shift pattern until the decals get ordered. Overview of tractor as of today and likely the last update until the hood and fender get painted sometime this winter.

1 pointI don't recall the actual numbers but the full throttle voltage to battery was definitively higher than the static charge with tractor off, key out. I believe that's the same error I made and taught him. Trina and I are accustomed to the 60s and 70s Kohlers and a few newer air cooled engines. All behave similar... but each has its own "personality". I'm thinking this Briggs just REALLY dislikes choke.

1 pointSo, just my opinion here. I have lived 27 miles (43 km) from Gettysburg all my life. Our family has been there so many times it's not funny. I just think of it as a spot on the map where we shop, go to the movie, and eat, however, for many it is a wonderful destination, filled with history, great activities, excellent restaurants and more. If your plan is to spend time in Gettysburg, I would book a hotel in Gettysburg, rather than one that's 25 miles away. The Big Show is only 8 miles from downtown Gettysburg. When going to Gettysburg, your first destination has to be the National Visitors Center. There you will find everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The Cyclorama, a 360 degree oil painting depicting the battle is also housed there. For audio tours, they have many languages available. You can head out from there to places like the (President) Eisenhower Farm, battlefield tours, etc. One stop I would suggest is the Dobbin House Springhouse Tavern for lunch or dinner. It's like stepping into history.

1 pointI would suggest you call Lincoln at A to Z Tractor. Great guy to deal with ane he probably has what you need. https://www.a-ztractor.com/
