8 pointsI was able to get a frame, motor, and unlocked rear end from an 856 as a parts tractor. Everything bolted right up.
-
6 pointsHF ones are resonable and have a nice selection. One may not want to make a living with them but just fine for a tractor affliction. Same with the ones in the jungle.
-
6 pointsOh... my... eyes... Just have @Achto seal the tank and all three you guys change your own undies... please.

5 pointsI make it a habit of never finishing a project before starting a follow up. I wish it weren't always that way, but it is. I like to tinker when ever I get a few minutes, so time and materials always determine what I work on from day to day. End of disclaimer... I've owned several Lawn Rangers, but they were all post 1965. They are ridiculously "overkill" when you consider that the primary difference between them and thier bigger siblings is the size of the wheels. I know the front axle and steering is different, but you get the point. The problem is, I've never been able to get much use out of them. I'm a corn-fed, big boned, fully grown, 6 foot, 200+ lb hillbilly, and they make me feel like I should be pedaling a big front wheel or something. No disrespect, just my personal fitment issues. But- I always liked the one that has been on the R&B Stables website in the snip below. Cleats, and 6-inch front wheels just give it a nice stance. That one is also why I've always looked for a 62-64 model, which I still do not have. Mine is a 1967. So, I've modified this Ranger several times without ever finishing it. Maybe this time it will happen. It's had a Kohler K181 on it for 20 years. Best running and quietest Kohler I've ever owned. The Ranger also sported full-size wheels for a while (which makes for crazy small turn radius), and even had hudraulic lift from a belt driven pump for a while. But now I have almost everything to make mine like the pic below. Round fenders and all. Of course it has an 8-speed already as well. So I said all of that to get to this: last week I found some stupid cheap rear tires with free shipping. Got them mounted up today, so this project has also officially begun. The main reason I'm building this is for my son. As I said before, I'm about too big for these little machines. The tractor will keep the stirrups, but I'm thinking of running the coil voltage lead through normally open microswitches on both pedals. That way if he tries to drag either or both feet, it will shut off.

5 pointsPicked up this 110v hoist at the auction for $9. Only 330 lbs, but enough to hang my deer or the front end of a Wheel Horse.
-
5 pointsYou can buy a $2 HF meter and a $300 Fluke and get the same results working on a Wheel Horse. Many times a digital meter will not work correctly on a RUNNING tractor. Spend your money on an analog meter. You can pick up a nice Simpson on E bay quite often but a cheap HF or Tractor Supply analog meter will get the job done.

5 pointsI hear that. Camp buggy is collecting dust. I snagged 2 identical basket case snowmobiles with matching tracks. Thought I would do a half track version WH. That's collecting dust. They are on my someday list.

4 pointsI wanted to jump on here and show y'all my lastest project. A 1960's model 704(mainly, other parts are used that aren't 704) i decided to try what I've wanted to do for a while. I had a bunch of parts lying around from other builds I've done and decided to pull out the frame and hood from the last 704 I built and start putting together my tricycle gear tractor.
-
4 pointsNeed to have a long set of leads to keep the meter from picking up induced readings from the chargin/ignition system.
-
4 pointsLooks like a 1974 or 1975 C-120 8 speed. Has the extra belt cover for a tiller or vacuum.' Missed that picture with the shifters.

4 points😆... how is it I am gainfully unemployed but the projects are getting done as fast as @ebinmaine 's...
-
4 points@ebinmaine In the Timeline i worked for Mercedes i earned lot of Money - more than enough, but i never saved anything for later. Wife had Horses Childrens and so the Money goes by.... i payed my Bills and the rest was for Living. I wasted a lot of money for different things nobody needs But i never regret of what i have done. That Job kills my first Partnership. 18-20h a day was completely normal sometimes on saturday and calling service on Sunday.. That has nothing to do with live, that is just „ living in a raw“ hey Man, i was young... and who cares if you are young. we didn‘t think ’bout tomorrow because we where young.... we paid the official retirement charge and that‘s it. but on my 50-er i begin to think little different. but not because of salary - i must not be the richest guy on the Cementary. It must be enough for me to live and not only survive - enough to do what i like to do and at least and i must have the time to live and do what i like. This are now my Preferences and i believe they be good.

4 pointsHome time means everything. I've had jobs that paid more per year but less per hour. A LOT more. But I had to live ... for work. Nothing else. My point was more of an overall condition. Nationwide. Personally, as long as I have enough money to pay all the bills and have a couple pennies left over... I'm happy. 😀🐻🤠

3 pointsYer on crack Sqounky but have a point... wanna buy a Simpson 260 in great shape? Only used by a little old lady on Sundays.... I'll throw in one or five bonus analogs... you can finally make some friends... Ok now i gotta go on one of Squonks rants ... 1979 on a submarine all the Navy would buy us is Simpsons. A 260 was in your mitts all the time. One time a salty electrician got assigned with a nice personal Fluke DMM. We was flabbergasted as we was just entering the digital age. Fluke = Can I borrow your wallet @ri702bill? Fluke yes if you are running a nuclear powered sub but for a tractor addiction... I don't think so.

3 pointsThe hood itself will loose ground contact with the tractor. Just cleaning the ground wire at the headlights may not be enough. Make sure the hood itself is grounded. I add a ground wire just for the hood.

3 pointsMoney isn‘t all. I had 4 years ago a very interesting sounding Job offer. Salary should be much better but the other envoirementals don‘t - except i should have a 4 Day (36h) job. - I talk with our Company Owner, we knew us where he was himself just an employee. Now he is the following Owner when Senior end his Job for Retirement because it’s a Family Company and we keeping the face to face Level until now so i stay with „my Company“. But for the 4 Day experiment both agreed that i will try this in sept.2023 and so i did. that was the best Deal i have ever made, more lifetime for me and the half Day my Workers can still survive without me. They be skilled enough and if troubles occur, they can be still solved on Monday. The other Company what try to collect me didn‘t survive the Corona time. - Buff - So sometimes loyality has it‘s advantage. Not in worse salary jobs, that‘s clear. The checks must be payed - but in this case if i changed my occupation i had lost a lot.

2 pointsBought my first Wheehorse and the vendor said it was not a 518-H and thought it was a C-180 but that does not seem to exist. There are no plates/stickers for either machine or motor. HELP please.
-
2 pointsit's just a minor item.. but I love the battery cross bar hold down application -- gotta do that on mine - another amazing little insight tip we all get here from RSq. members
-
2 pointsNo sir. The machine was being cranky. We loaded it up on the trailer and I was about to strap it down. The plow was still up. I tried <<< note that word, to restart so the Hydro could push the plow down. No start. Yesterday I put two new spark plugs in. Drove it around some plowing the dooryard. Today drove it around more. Adjust the carb about 2/3 of a fine hair. Seems to be running well. So tomorrow. 🤞

2 pointsWhat Squonky meant is the ground to the headlights are done through the hood hinges which can become greasy and unreliable. More so with led lights. Re-ground the hood with a separate ground wire from the hood or lights directly back to the frame. If your not blowing fuses must be a ground issue and not a short. Let us know what you find might help me find the gremlin on a 520.

2 pointsGot the Cherokee changed into winter boots today. The summer sneakers that were on it were worn down to the wear bars. Driving on them in the last wet packy snow was kind of like driving on slicks! The neighbor had borrowed his realitive's small Massey Furgeson diesel tractor with a back hoe and FEL recently. He had taken a tree out today and had just removed that stump with it. He offered to haul the off season tire/wheel assemblies to and from the shed with it. Of course I said yes. While he was in my yard, I had him drag a limb out of the woods so I can chop it into firewood, and he placed a scoop of soil in the low spot where the birch tree used to be several years ago.

2 pointsThat is some serious engineering on the front lift! Dunno what to call it, but I really like it. Very nice!
-
2 pointsSee post 6. Agree with @squonk about hood tilt. I had that problem. Fixed with solid ground.
-
2 pointsDid you connect them together and start the engine? How about grounding the hood? I have seen those hoods lose the ground when they are open.

Therefore a bunch of Professionals was sent to the Certification process. I was one of them and be proud i made it in first Try.

2 pointsFound it: Look familiar? Mine dresses in all black. Rebuild first winter I am gainfully unemployed. I love my job, but I'd rather be home rebuilding the old twin.

2 pointsI started flying at around 12yrs old also. My grandpa had a Cessna 172 at that time. He had a few planes through the years. They lived on a farm so he had a private grass airstrip. He would fly in to pick me up on a Friday afternoon when school let out- we lived 1/2mi from small airport. We would fly back to my grandparents where I would spend weekend with them. Sunday afternoon he would fly me home. I remember flying to Seven Springs, Niagara Falls, & other destinations to get lunch or dinner. Grandpa has been gone for a while now. I'm still flying what was his last airplane. Beechcraft Bonanza V-tail. (aka- the Dr. killer) Flying is a great hobby......
