14 pointsHad my little helper with me over the weekend wiring the diesel starting and charging system. Now I just need to find a place for the battery.

11 pointsGot my new snow tires in for the 520! Sure hope they'll fit 🤣

10 pointsNot quite Jimbo. This is my main shop phone....It even has a long range coiled wire, never needs charged, and always has 5 bars. Squirrely Shirley hangs out here to remind me, You gotta have some nads to not follow the flock.

9 pointsHi everyone, Ive had my 1964 model 854 for 12 years! (bought it from a fellow RS member in 2011) I love it! still un-restored and in original condition. I made a webpage with a small bit of info about it back in 2011, but then Google sites forced an update that killed my original page. The page was then down for a few years.. Well, I decieded to revive it! and this time I updated it and made it mostly about the Model 854 in general, and not so much about my own tractor specifically.. Check it out and let me know what you think! https://sites.google.com/view/1964-wheelhorse-model-854/1964-wheel-horse-model-854 thanks, Scot

7 pointsWell... I do not recommenced a "smart" phone. I begrudgingly own one. I will own one as long as I am married... So i'm told. It lives on the charger inside unless I leave the premises Without my bride. It should make some of that you tuberating a bit easier once you get the hang of it? Maybe? Idk Red Square is nearly my only online entity on porpoise. Welcome to thousands of notices and spam! That is All I can confirm that a new phone does for certain! I miss the rotary.. One in the house, one in the detached garages growing up. Unplug and you don't exist. Do not need something special to find it. Even unplugged it is always in the same place.

7 pointsI have a spare, apparently good, motorcycle battery lying around - I think it had a broken terminal that I repaired but had already bought a new one for the bike. It cranked a 4 cylinder bike engine so it should be good for a Kohler twin, so I may use it on my 517-H project to keep things less crowded in the tower. That said, I'm a little disturbed at this image from your engine. It appears to be encouraging violence toward rabbits in step 3:

7 pointsAs I tell everyone when i fumble through my SMART phone, I'm just an analog guy stuck in a digital world!

7 pointsAre you sure Joe. When my 3g flipper was about to be unsupported, I went to our local electronics store (BEST BUY) to replace it with a 5g flipper. The young Geek Squad salesman just laughed, said they no longer exist and began his pitch to sell me one of his $1000 smart phones. A young female salesperson realizing I was not buying his pitch, called me aside and took me to a case where they had discontinued products and found this $9.95 4G flipper. She said, don't lose it...It is the last one.

7 pointsNot really what I did to my /'s, but what I did for my wife just in case I get hit by the "proverbial bus". I'm getting close to owning "too many tractors" & she really has no idea what I have. So I sat down and cataloged each one of my tractors. Included in each folder is a picture of both sides of the tractor and a picture of the ID tag (engine ID tag for the few with out a readable ID tag) Also include in each folder is a description, serial number, purchase date, purchase price, restoration completion date if applicable, details on the resto, (engine rebuild specs, tranny rebuild, etc) and approximate current value. NOTE: I did not include the amount of $ that I put into the resto. All this info is on a USB stick with a key fob on it for easy identification. Hopefully she never has to use it but at least she'll have some thing to go by if she needs to liquidate the inventory because something happened to me. Of course now I have created a new issue for my wife. She used to get nervous when I left home with an empty trailer. Now she will be getting upset when I ask for the USB stick.

6 pointsWell guys looks like Pullstart is not as stupid as he looks. Dan and I got him group texting already. He's got the hang of it. Dan showed him how to text adult themed memes..

6 points@Ed Kennell we had a rotary phone in the basement growing up. The wireless replacements, they didn’t work when we frequently lost power. I was quite good at spinning that dial. Now, it has been stripped of it’s cord and hangs out in the toy box for the nieces and nephews when they come over. No, we didn’t remove the cord for safety. It was violently ripped away from it by a very young small child!
-
6 pointsThat is where my wife draws the line. Before we tied the knot she made me promise that no car or tractor parts come through the door. So far she hasn't caught me doing it yet.
-
6 pointsSad news, I can’t imagine the instant chaos from the LP catching fire uncontrolled! On another note, I dream of a day I hunt in a heated blind and my wife brings my lunch and gun out for me.

5 pointsSeems to be a hot topic these engine mounts. Here's what I made for my 512-D. Made from polyurethane and scrap steel. More durable and a bit harder than rubber but more forgiving than solid mounts.
-
5 points@squonk I would use Skype but then I would see your face and have to wash my eyes with Clorox. Be nice or the next time I see you I will throw the flip phone at the back of your head. Look up Kyocera flip phones.
-
5 pointsSend one to @elcamino/wheelhorse and show him how to use SKYPE! And another to rake his leaves!
-
5 pointsYou ain’t wrong, Mr. Richard! Many can claim to “butt dial” a lot, but I can clear a room full of bearded men pretty easily! My poor wife… she’s a saint!

5 pointsIn Maryland you can only hunt from a vehicle if you have a handicap license.
-
5 pointsmsn.com Accidents with heaters can and do happen everywhere. Hunting context is irrelevant. Focus should have been on educating folks on safe portable heater use. Mainstream media agenda isn't served by that though... anti gun anti hunting is the message... Sad.

5 pointsI've always had Android devices so I don't know if this holds true for Apple stuff: One of the things I had to learn the hard way when I first got a smartphone was ALWAYS ALWAYS shut the screen OFF before you put it away. Even with that, I had to start using a lock screen because it would "contact" itself open somehow... and then go off willy-nilly doing whatever it wanted to... 😂. Years ago I knew somebody that had a phone that would shut off within just a few seconds if they didn't keep their finger right on the screen the whole time. I can see the desired safety aspect about that but I found it very annoying. There are two people in my life to this day that I've watched quite a few times putting an open lit phone right into their pocket. I'm not sure if it's because they have severe intestinal fortitude or severe absent-mindedness or both.

5 pointsI like to pick out which tractor is going to get redone while it is still fairly warm out. The tractor will then get soaked down with Super Clean & then pressure washed. This gives me a clean-ish tractor to start with. If I don't get it washed when it's warm out, then there is a car wash with a hand wand near me that I can fit my truck & trailer in. I'll haul the tractor there for a wash before disassembling. After that all the pieces get scrubbed down in the wash tank with mineral spirits, dried off, repaired, then sandblasted. From there it is just a matter of keeping the garage warm enough to paint plus keep it warm for at least 12hrs after painting. OH!! Then there is my wife's favorite part. The day after painting, I put all my parts in our spare bedroom for a week to cure before assembly. Best part about painting in cold weather - NO BUGS !!
-
5 pointsHere's what I made. Some scrap and polyurethane material. These have some give to them. About the belts.. in the Netherlands we have a website called 'Kramp' where you can buy a whole range of (garden)tractor parts. That where I got my belts.

5 pointsI used to have a company phone that was a slider. It was also incapable of receiving group texts. My manager got tried of me missing the info in the group texts, so he got the IT department to upgrade me to an I phone. I told my manager that I didn't trust it. Got a puzzled look from him, and he asked why? I replied that I didn't trust it 'cause it didn't have real buttons.

4 pointsI will be heading to Ohio this weekend to take some RJ transmissions to Keith Jones. Going to get an RJ transmission rebuilt by Keith and Larry Eads to go on an RJ my brother David bought from Rodney Burger in 2018 on the was back from the LeSeur , Minnesota sale in April. This thing has been sitting in our starve shed for five years. Yesterday I worked outside for three hours removing parts and pieces to get the transmission off the frame. I had not really looked at this thing much so was surprised when I started work to find the steel channel welded to the bottom of the two side panels on the 3 piece transmission. Now I have seen cracked center cases and rewelded ones but never anything like this one. My thought is this must have been done after a redo to protect the underside from damage. No real damage seen by so who knows. No cable on the hitch. Hitch moves but channel extends beyond the hitch. The hub removals were the easiest parts. Well greased axles and my three tooth pulley remover was like slicing through butter! The worst job was the roll pin. Removing from the idler/clutch arm. Broke a 1/8 punch and sprayed several times with PB Blaster. Finally got enough roll pin down inside the hole to use my regular roll pin punches which removed it. The welds are interesting as there are three two to two and a half inch ones on each side. I am sure they will have to be cut out with an angle grinder. The bolts in the side plates can be removed but the plates will not allow access due to brake shaft and drive shaft on the other side. Removed the idler pulley and brake band after removing the clutch rod. I did not remove the drive pulley as the pulley had an oversized bolt rather than a set screw holding the drive pulley on the woodruff key on the drive shaft. The other discovery during yesterday’s work was the RJ had Wards Riverside rear tires . I have recollection from a show several years ago guys love this tire tread and pay premium price for these tires. I am hauling this one to Keith and Larry with channel plate still on it. I think we still have good gears in it and hopefully the case can be saved. I do have others they can use however in the rebuild I hope to put on this RJ. Anyway I thought this would be a post some would want to see!

4 pointsOne of the bad things about a new to you anything including phones, horses and wife's. You gotta sit down and play with them and learn how they work. much easier with horses and phones I might add...
-
4 pointsAhhh yaahh Sylvia... comes in quite handy to ask the boys if they wanna go out for Friday fish fry. BTW Kev just a heads up ... supposedly there is a feature on new I phones that if your phone comes in close contact with another I phone it can swap contacts in your phone book. It was in the news and there is a way to turn it off. Might want to check into it. Might not be a handy feature yer trolling in a bus stop...

4 pointsMy wife's Tundra won't fit in our garage. Since my building has no power, she relented and didn't mind when I started using the garage as my shop. As one can imagine, the number of tools and tractors didn't take long to multiply. Any time I use chemicals stronger than a baby wipe, she regrets agreeing to that previous decision.... I should say she "audibly regrets"!
-
4 pointsI carry an old I-phone 4 I believe around at work. It's the shop phone. The 2nd shift guy lost his voice to cancer and refused to get one of those voice box thingies. The switchboard communicates with him by text on this phone. Building alarms come thru by text as well so if something happens he gets the alarm. Well I get the alarms as well when I have the phone. Yesterday when I picked up the phone I noticed an unread text. I read the text and it read "Are you here?" I answered it "No." I would have like to see the reaction when they read my answer.

4 pointsSeems like such an unfair advantage, you all warm and snuggly with food and drink while the deer freezes trying to find some food. Maybe it wasn't a rodent that tinkered with the heater.
-
4 pointsNot sure it is sad news. Pullstart can put that to good use. Just an better tool in the box.

4 pointsI had one of them in the day Rob. Slicker than cat crap on linoleum. Missus busted me in the bathroom tried to shave with it... 'Course I had a V-8 once you could change plugs without pulling the motor.
