11 pointsSeeing the photos of Young Rilee P growing up started me to thinking. Where are my old photos of the days of my youth? Had a dig around and found a few golden oldies. I'd love to see your memories of childhood things guys. Look back at the good old days. This is ne enjoying a day at the beach, probably around 1969.

10 pointsThanks Dan. He's not a high scorer, but one of the heaviest whitetails I have taken. He had 1/2 to 3/4 inch of fat all over. Made a real chore to skin as I like to leave all the fat on the hide so I don't have to trim the meat later. Another surprise, I did not find one tick. They are usually covered this time of year. He walked into my shooting lane at 27 yds at 8AM this morning. He ran about 40 yds and fell over. This was the fourth time I saw this buck in the past three weeks. We are in our fifth week of our six week long archery season and I have spent well over 100 hours in my tree stand. Sure was glad to have the 312H close by as this 170 lb 80 yo couldn't begin to move him.

5 pointsCongrats Ed Dog! I had a neighbor come in the drive this afternoon. He shot a small buck low belly this morning (archery season here) and tracked it to the road at my property line. I recalled helping him and his dad a few years ago with a flat tire on a snowy cold Sunday morning around the corner. He tracked his deer 3/4 across my property loosing blood. He said of all the deer tracks, he was familiar with this one’s cadence after a mile or so of walking but he lost blood and tracks in my grass. I might have met a new customer, he has a could pieces of equipment for his construction business that need repairs from time to time.

4 pointsWorking on replacing the gearbox in the new charger 12, but it has a crack in the mount, so we've gotta weld that. Also going to put a bigger pin in the hood so it doesn't wiggle as much and got to get a hood latch and line up the hood yet.

4 pointsOne daughter went to school 750 miles west of here. Drove a few times and 14+ hours was a lot, even in my younger days and without a trailer. More than once I’ve reminded myself how fortunate that the Big Show is only 4+ hours drive away. Wonder if there’s a way to have the tractor go “ground” while I fly?

4 pointsCheck the inside of the tire carefully. I've NEVER seen a tire that wasn't marked. That said.... A tube that fits a 23 x 8.5/9.5 x 12 should get you outta trouble.

4 pointsI wouldn't either and I had the drill out ready to go. I was so happy with the clamp on forks it's the way to go. Figured it be just in the way for other FEL chores. 'Sides in the bucket you can't see to hook but extended out just a bit you can see the hook standing on the floor boards. I have plenty of 2" hitches with every drop/rise imaginable. Plus convertible balls. Tip: Greasy Pete says keep the clamp screws lubed. Unloading the HF tool chest was painless.

3 pointsThat's awesome. Just glad it's done. Trying to get the old bird ready for winter. Plowing snow with a 45 year old tractor is very rewarding as we all kmow. I had a bunch of horses but they all left and went on their own to other pastures. So my one and only C101 is left to do all the work. Gee, red is a nice color...

3 pointsI have seen a couple or three of his videos as a customer or other said "I watched Taryl do this, so I figured it was the right way to do something" The guy is an idiot with no real understanding of how and why something works the way it was designed , but rather he'll "make it work" (Rather than properly diagnosing a running issue, for example, he simply resized a carburetor jet, or made some other "backyard" modification.) When I worked in Automotive (Ford Dealership) there were the equivalent "car guys" that we professionals disparagingly referred to as "Gomers" (as in Gomer Pyle) and a lot of their repairs or fixes were simply a matter of luck ("Because I replaced this part, everything worked again"... but not understanding that they would have gotten the same result by removing and cleaning up the old part, or it was the stuff they removed and then reassembled that fixed the issue, at least temporarily.) or mis-information. (Fixing a 2-stroke by adjusting the carburetor without fixing the real problem which might have been simply a stiffened diaphragm or pinhole in fuel line, etc.) I gave up watching or putting any faith in these YouTube guys , especially those with a "Schtick" like Taryl - the only thing they are in it for is to sell YouTube views and subscriptions to make money. I didn't even bother to watch that video, because I am pretty sure about half his information would be incorrect or missing the mark...

2 pointsI recently was on the search for a newer truck. Being a Mopar fan I am a bit bias toward brand. There were 2 big criteria's in my search. 1 - The number on the odometer had to be less than the number on the price tag. 2 - It had to have a minimum of a 6.5 foot box, really would have liked an 8 foot box. 5.5 foot boxes seem to be the most common now days. With these 2 must have's, I was really close to ordering a brand new truck. The truck that I ended up buying is a 2018 Ram 1500. 5.7L, 395hp, 12k lb. towing capacity, 20mpg empty, around 15mpg with 6 garden tractors in tow & tons of creature features. So far I really like this truck.

2 pointsMy last two pickups have been General Motors. The first one a 1994 Chevrolet K1500 with 4.3. The second was 1992 GMC K2500 with 5.7. There is a lot of difference between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. The 3/4 ton has much bigger brakes, a heavier duty transmission and engine cooler, even the drive shaft is much larger. If I have an option within reasonable price difference, I'd choose 3/4 ton. Another thing I look for is rust free body. It's been my experience that rusty bodies usually have rusty fuel lines, brake lines and sometimes frames. My 94 was nearly rust free but lacked power to pull my 24 foot camping trailer so I sold it and bought the 92. My current truck, the 92, is absolutely rust free and pictured hooked up to the camper is my favorite pickup. I realize these old trucks don't have the pizzazz the new models have but they are simple enough that I can work on them.

2 pointsI mounted the ball to a Sq steel tube then used 2 3/8" holes and bolts to hold it on. Not a big hole for the ball stem. The extra steel supported it over a larger area and it never bent the bucket. That clamp should work but it extends the ball out further from the edge. I preferred it nice and tight for heavier things.

2 pointsIf money weren't an object I would say buy a Toyota. Toyota reliability seems to be a notch above the others. While it's a foreign owned company, they are built in San Antonio near me. I toured the plant a few years ago, very interesting. Mid-price range There's things I like and dislike about both the Ford and Chevy. I'm not up on the Transmissions, but a friend says the Chevy 1/2 ton has an option with a heavier duty transmission great for towing a camper. Dodges seem to be slightly lower price and I know guys who work them to death and have no problems. Then again I know of others with lots of problems. So Dodge would be off my list. A friend says buy a Dodge at 30k miles and sell it at 80k miles.

2 points… I wish I knew how many tractor an implement tires I’ve mounted and or patched back in the day all by hand . Seen it many times with tube folded or pinched leading to a leak . I would always blow up the tire then let the air out then refill . Inner tub powder is your friend too and pay attention to the valve stem size as it may need a bushing so it fits tight in the hole in the rim . Good luck

2 pointsI believe it’s @pacer who has mentioned being involved with planes in the past. A SMALLER tube a bit stretched is always better than a LARGER tube that could fold inside the wheel and tire.
