The RJ58 was the big hit for spectators this year at my local festivals here in Carroll County OH. the children loved getting their pictures sitting on it, then they discovered the bicycle horn under the steering wheel. It’s always a joy even in parades. Just love showing off part of my collection every year and hearing all the stories from those that had WH in their lives at one time. Can hardly wait to get to retirement so I can get some of my other models back to their glory in working order and be able to attend other shows/festivals throughout the year. My fellow tractor enthusiasts always know when a spectacular starts asking about WH, they point in my direction. I study up on the history of the different models and always intrigue those that didn’t know much about how WH came to be. This website is one place that has helped me learn so much about the WH history and I thank you for sharing your knowledge that I am able to pass on to keep WH alive and well.

Found this Early all original 1956 rj35 that was purchased new with three attachments . I’ve been working at bringing it back . I’ve been hunting for a few missing/ damaged pieces to the puzzle such as patina Schnacke , drive rod ,etc which will come with time . I plan to yank the motor reseal it as it does run excellent. The cleaning process will be tedious and slow, but worth it . Only one missing I’m my line up is a 1955 rj-35 which I hope to find someday.

Finally got the right rear tires on my 1045. Changed out a bad hub and replaced both axle seals. To me it looks better. Gitty up!

Picked these up today! Again thanks to Buckeyes for selling them to me. So that's 3 tractors I bought from him in the last month, including the RJ. How did I go from January of this year to buying my 1st Wheel Horse C105 to having 7 of them now???

Tiny work update I thought y'all might enjoy. Pretty rare to see one in the wild let alone in such nice shape and working condition. I'm talking about a Fendt GT which in this case has been extended to be able to mount a hoe implement which is 'steered' by GPS. The two large disks are the steering wheels and are controlled by a hydraulic ram and ofcourse some GPS software mounted in the cab. The air-cooled Deutz engine sits mounted flat under the cab. All three 3-point hitches can be raised and lowered separately. My job on this machine was to track down and fix an oil leak coming from under the tractor. Turns out the person who restored the tractor previously tried to weld up a leak in the hydraulic oil tank and covered it up with bondo or liquid metal. Cleaned all the gunk out, welded the tank, tested and cleaned it, then painted and reinstalled it on the tractor.

I will jump in say this time frame because they were at the peak of perfection. These old K Kohler are multi generation engines with the tractor being that they are so easy to work on.No safety switches gravity feed gas tank hardly any wiring. Do not mean to put down the models came after but this is where I am at. Just my

We've been heavily loading the utility trailer around the yard lately and this project is overdue... I've entered my 312-8 into the wheelie prevention program. the ingredients: - 1/2x8" black iron pipe nipple - (2) 1/2" iron floor flanges - mild steel plate - cheapest 2" hitch HF had - 2 John Deere 20kg weights - lots of fugly welds. my HF welder is not feeding well at all Wouldn't you know it- there's just enough room to tip the hood all the way open. The weights fit tight, there's a little bit of end play on each side but this retains them very firmly- unlike the 3pt weight bar you can see in the background. They clank around the entire time on the SCUT.

This is what i've used for years, year round, in my 10 hp Kohler.

In production use they might be bolted down, typically drilling small parts they are hand held. If using a large drill, maybe 1/2" and up, clamping should be done. Whatever you do, put a foot switch on the drill press so you can keep hold on the vise till the rotation stops. While drilling the bit pushes down on the workpiece and vise and there is friction holding it to the table, as a drill breaks thru is when grabbing most likely will happen. Try to leave a fair amount of material between steps when progressive larger drills are used, drilling a small amount is when the corkscrew effect happens. If you have a spindle clamp, tightening it slightly so there is drag will help reduce the grabbing.

Next in the garage is the 315-8 for a once over and a lube job. She has quite a bit of leaf chopping to do in the next month…

Gentlemen, Today I repaired the leaky plastic gas tank on the ‘69 Charger 12 by drilling out the old outlet, installing a bushing and shutoff valve, cutting the dash pan hole wider, and adding a fuel filter. I just acquired this tractor and am dedicating it to being my “mower” and will dedicate the ‘68 Charger 12 I have for “tractor stuff”. This ‘69 needs work, but thankfully mowing season is coming to an end so I can get this horse sorted out by spring time.

I work at Claas (tractor) dealership but we service all brands of tractors, wheel loaders and harvest equipment. Every engine on all of those machines gets the same 10W40 oil. No problem whatsoever. Just maybe don't mix synthetic oil with mineral oil. To quote the great Taryl Fixes All "It's Not The Space Shuttle, It's A Lawn Mower"

I dug this one out of the trash bin at work years ago and use it on my drill press all the time. Similar to yours.

The best advice! I suspect the ONLY issue you’ll discover as a new Wheel Horse owner will be the insistent telepathic messages from the 312 that it needs another Wheel Horse in the garage to keep it company when you are not there!

Hello @KVustrud! I am just down the road from you in Flowery Branch. You will find this forum to have lots of friendly folk and a "university" of knowledge. I agree with the 312 purchase. The simplicity of the tractor and the kohler engines are what I like most about the wheel horses. I know a lot of folks swear by the 520's but I have seen so many headaches with the wiring and problems with the onan that it's just not a good fit for me. But that's just me..... Enjoy that tractor!

Shaft size has nothing to do with pulley diameter.

I also love all garden tractors and am fairly color blind when it comes to them. I love my c series tractors as they are ridiculously reliable. I love a round hood and half fenders as most do. I have a 416h and I have it just about how I want it now and it’s absolutely awesome. Plenty of power for attachments hydro lift just awesome. The one tractor that has surprised me the most out of my recent purchases is the mid length b100 auto. I find myself getting it out more and more often and not even realizing it. It runs so good. I found out this summer that my mid mount grader with most likely stay on it It just suits that tractor well if functionality and looks for the 100 dollars I paid for the B last fall I love it

I have newer workers, C series but as far as my favorite to hop on, start up and toodle around with a yard cart would have to be the 1045. It runs like a champ, starts first roll over everytime. Oh and it looks pretty cool too. Gitty Up!

I put those Sears Robuck wheel weights on the 417. I picked these 33 pounders at the auction for $5 yesterday. I knew I would have to make a mounting bracket. Kinda like how they fit flush with tire sidewall.

All the colors of the AG rainbow lol. i bought a "Cub Cadet/Yanmar" that is black and yellow. what i need is a Kubota and an old Ford so i can have orange and blue covered. I've noticed something with equipment- when it's painted green it's instantly worth more than it should be it's really weird.....

i like those din cooled old Deutz Engines. they have a special Sound at 1/3 throttle what just they had. Rocksolid Engines - as long as they have allway’s enough oil in but also quick servicable if needed. Nice Rig

Funny you mention that...... I'm at work now drawing up ideas for a shelf with some sort of removable ramp in corner of garage. Also thinking up some sort of winch to slowly pull tractors up as opposed to driving them up.

After using it for a bit improved on switch location. Also added two handles strategically placed as to keep perfect balance when moving it.

I would say based on what I have read and my experience with the 312 you will have less headaches down the road. I just bought a 418-8 and love it waiting to mow next spring with it.

Yes this is the one. After a few minor issues, she runs like new. I had to come up with some weight on the front to keep her from Rearing Up. I had a dozer mount I put on and built a simple wooden box with the bricks. A lot of people thought it was a cute idea. Added about 25# but it was enough to Tame Her. You should fuse the feed to the pump and can can use the "A" terminal or on a battery ignition unit the fuel pump can be connected to the "I" terminal.

Takes a while for this wood stove in the office to get the shop warmed up but once its warmed up it will do the trick. I hang a fan above the door to the shop to get the heat circulating. I don't use it if I'm working with gas.

Or... get fatty tires and ride through the snow...

My 502 is my favorite, because it was my first mainly. It’s also an amazing worker, with all the modifications I’ve done to it. It’s a one pull wonder too!

I have learned to not assume bearings are properly greased, I always grease before I put them in service.
