I was at work in a police station in Sheffield when the news started to come in. I remember a colleague running into our office and saying something like "they've declared war on America" and we all went to the break room to watch the story unfold.. I'm a tough guy but when the towers came down I cried at the utter madness of this crime. I still can't watch the planes hit without crying now. I believe they declared war on humanity that day not just America. Never forget, thoughts are with you all on this day xx

As I watched in disbelief that horrible morning, I couldn’t help but think what those people and my brother firemen must be going through. This morning at my firehouse we had our memorial service.I’ve now been a volunteer firefighter for over 35 years and this morning as I stood saluting the flag in full turnout gear I was trying to keep it together. When our fire whistle went off at 8:46, the time the first plane hit and the bell was ringing across the street at our community house I burst into tears. Let us never forget all those who so innocently lost their lives that day. God Bless America 🇺🇸

No, we shouldn't forget. Neither should we forget it wasn't just an attack on the US. There was so many different nationalities who lost their lives that day.

Like many others, I remember exactly where I was the morning of 9/11/2001. I was working in a Data Center in Devon, PA, and when the news started coming in, everyone stopped working and congregated in the break room where there was a TV showing what was happening. We were all speechless. It's still hard to believe that all really happened. What a crazy world we live in. A few years later I was doing some work for the NYC Housing Authority, which had offices next door to where the WTC was. From the windows on about the 5th floor, you could see down into the hole that was left when they cleaned out all the debris. Very sad and touching. I took some time to walk through the memorial they had put up near there.

On a personal basis it was a real bad day but also a lucky one. It changed my life for ever for it violated the country that embraced me, the city in which I made most of my livelihood and love, and the peace of mind which was so dear and treasured living here. The lucky part of it was that I was supposed to be in tower 2 that morning. Having been there the day before in an architects office picking up drawings, which were not ready, I was to go back there the next morning at around 10AM. However, that morning was a beautiful day, and since in my job I had total freedom of schedule and movement, I decided instead to travel to Pennsylvania to check on another shop which was doing work for us. Needless to say I did not inform anyone of it that morning leaving that for later that morning. Two thirds of the way to my destination I noticed that I lost all radio stations in van and cell phone did not work. Only when i got closer to destination I heard news in a local station which at first I thought it was a sick joke like it usually happened in a lot of morning shows. It was however real.I was not able to contact anyone for a couple of hours more. Found out then that everyone was going insane trying to locate me, since they knew I was supposed to be in the towers that morning. They called my wife looking for me which obviously was not a good thing to do, she being already in her classroom. It took until mid afternoon for me to be able to contact them. I got a very mixed collection of receptions anywhere from tears of joy to being cursed out for not informing anyone of my decision that morning. A true stroke of luck for me in that respect in a otherwise catastrophic day.

Crikey Caz, someone was looking after you that day my friend! The world did change that day, it got uglier and a whole lot more unsafe. I still hate travelling g to any city or site that may be considered a target, London is somewhere I will not visit, period. Call it over cautious but I'd rather not put myself in harms way unnecessarily. I know you can get killed crossing the road, but keeping away from likely targets makes sense to me. Those poor folk involved in 911 had no choice, no notion that they would become targets of a twisted ideology that places zero value on human life, not even that of its followers. @formariz congratulations ! cutie , the older we get , the more you appreciate them ! always look for the opportunity to hold them , grew up in a household , where my mother took in abandoned babies , NY CATHOLIC CHARITES , a week to 10 days old , kept them for a half year , and gave them back , to get another , handing off your little brother / sister to one of the nuns , was heart wrenching . mom did that for 27 years , 2 babies a year , thats 54 babies , still have the old black / white 3x3 photos' . never forget , Pete

Sadly, like most important history it seems to get downplayed as time goes on. Definitely a day I will never forget. Remember it like yesterday. Also remember the shuttle explosion like it just happened.

I have got parts there too. At one time on Red Square he did not get such a warm welcome. Seems I remember some accusing him of some kind of wheel horse slaughterer. just a person making a living supplying good used parts and not junking the machines.

@the jeep driver done all of mine over , do yourself a favor and RE LUBRICATE those bearings , usually a lubrication failure , initial bearing whine is telling you that , those wide rubber bearing side shields , are easily removed , bearing wiped out , carb cleaner flush , Lucas XHD green chassis grease repack , bearings probably ,# 6203 ( 3/4 ) 2RSC3 . never had any related deck bearings fail with that grease , the lateral strain and drag load is what cooks those bearings , noise is telling you of eminent failure , @953 nut AND @Ed Kennell recommend @A-Z Tractor for local unit , would still do over those bearings , ensuring quiet / solid running ease , Pete

There WAS such a place in Moosup CT - went there around 2010 to purchase a 36" deck for the 1994 Craftsman 4 Wleel Steering Express we got. Sadly, the land was worth more than the business - went the way of old Drive-in Theaters and short track Speedways - prime locations with the land already cleared - I miss them all.

I’m getting closer. With work and kids’ stuff it’s hard to find big enough blocks of time to make progress, but I did spend part of today and some of Friday night working. As shown previously, the new board went right in. A lot of my time after that was spent drilling the holes through for the various bolts and installing them. Each one gets slathered in 3M marine sealant before installation so it’s a bit of a messy process. Then need to clean off everything that squishes out before it sets. Using a lot of acetone and old rags. Drilling was done with one of those drill press things that mounts to a hand drill. Works nice to keep them pretty straight. There were a handful where my drill press thing wouldn’t fit properly so I milled a hole straight through an aluminum block to make a pseudo drill bushing jig and it worked beautifully. I poured a bunch of polyisocyanurate floatation foam to replace what I’d hacked away during the demolition. I had forgotten how much it expands so it got away from me on a couple of pours as you can see, but it’s ready to trim with a pruning saw after a few minutes of cure time. Splash well Is in. It took a bunch of rivets. Transom cap is on. About a dozen sheetmetal screws for that. Only things left are to drill the 1” holes for the splash well drains, swage in the drain tubes, mount the ladder, put the rear deck on, install the two rear corner caps, and hang the motor. I figure maybe another 6 hours all in. That will put this at about 20 hours of work. I bet now that I’ve been through it I could shave several hours from the project if I had to do it again. Wasn’t too bad, but i would have rather been fishin’. The end is in sight. Steve

I picked up a tecumseh 10 hp engine I can't verify the proper serial number an I'm hoping it's just a hm100. From my own on searching that's all I can find. Problem I have is it has a generator crankshaft which is tapered from 1 inch to 5/8. And it does not have a key way. I want to motor swap my wheelhorse From the blown 6 hp to the 10. Is it easier to buy a new pulley and machine the taper. Will the pulley function without the keyway and just press it on. Or buy a new crankshaft? With the 1inch output shaft.

I know a couple places like that. Both are always priced well outside what thier offerings are worth, and both said their stuff would "rot" if they couldn't get the asking prices. Sadly, that "rot" is typically what they get... Just today I passed one and there are dark rusty tractors where bright red ones sat 10 years ago. Stupidity lives just on the far side of stubborn. Some folks are eat up with it.

All my grandchildren have Biblical names. This little one however was named after my Mother in law and my Mother.

The old 753 Before

Ive never really liked using an abrasive wheel chop saw for metal stock. Gets the job done, but really makes a mess of things. So whenever possible I would use one of my portable bandsaws I keep in the work truck (pipefitter) Had been trying to get my woodworking bandsaw to function as a metal cutting saw, but couldn’t find a blade that would really work at those speeds. Anyways, stumbled on a market place listing for 75 bucks for a purpose built metal cutting band saw. Was a little rough on the eyeballs, but it cleaned up well, and I decided to try Krylon Fusion paint, as the Rustoleum has really gotten expensive. The paint went on well and dried really fast. Not Sure how durable it is, but should certainly work for its purpose. So far, happy with it. The angle Iron cart it came with was a complete surprise bonus. The casters alone are probably worth 50 bucks.

HOORAY FOR ME.... I WON. Finally, I was rewarded with a SIMPLE solution to the K341 engine rev issue: The Clamp on the Governor arm was NOT tightened to the Gov Rod...just loosely fit by P.O. Reset the Gov arm as per 'INEEDANOTHER' above, clamped it tight in position and PRESTO...no more over-rev. YEAHHHHH. Thanx y'all...
