We planned to spend our 60th wedding anniversary in Hawaii, but plans change. Spent the big day at OSS Hospital getting an MRI on Mrs. Ks ailing back. She had L3,4, and 5 fused in 2017 and is now struggling with some pain. Sept. 8 1963 2023

Short story about honoring our National Anthem. The crew members I worked with at the power plant were all military veterans. When we were on the midnight shift we always listened to a particular radio station that would play a recording of our National Anthem at five am, we would all stand with hands over our hearts while it was playing. A new manage had been assigned to our plant and he was making the rounds of all the departments to introduce himself and give us feedback on his observations. He came to our workstation at about 4:45 am. He was in the middle of his presentation when we all stood up in unison, he thought we were walking out on him. He began to ask what was going on and was SHUSHED by several of us. Once he realized that the National Anthem was being played he too put hand over heart and from that day forward he would stop by at 5:00 am when we were working the mid-shift.

Any tractor may benefit from installing a primer bulb, especially those with the gas tank lower than the carburetor. Yes, a fuel pump that has leaking check valves will not pump well. An electric fuel pump is another idea that will work since the carburetor will be filled almost immediately. Lots of options, but first make sure that your fuel hoses are in good condition with absolutely no air leaks. Just remember that the thing worked well when new and returning it to a like new condition is all that is really needed.

Friday at about 5PM ordered a 6 feet bronze bar from McMaster Carr. Immediate confirmation and delivery scheduled for Monday. Get home today and BAM, there it is less than 12 hours later and on Saturday.

I sympathize with her for sure. I am only 35 years old and have my lowest three disc fused. From tailbone up. It definitely changed my life and the way I look at doing things and especially HOW I do them. I walk and step with purpose these days. No more leaping from one unstable point to another or risk taking. I realized very quickly after surgery when I basically had to learn to walk again that at my age I have several more years of working before retiring and I need to do my best to make sure I can make it that long with out being crippled. I wish her the best and she will be in my thoughts.

Hope she can get her back sorted out. My wife had surgery done in about the same area of her back - got L4, L5, and S1 fused. Our thoughts are with you.

The long crank time to get fuel to the carb is usually a problem with the "tank under the seat" tractors. The c-160 tank is about same elev. as the carb. Like others have said, clean and or replace all fuel hoses, filters, tank petcocks and the screen in the tank. Check for any air leaks around the carb.throttle shaft and bolting flange by spraying WD40 around those areas while running. If the engine revs up, air is leaking in which may be defeating the closed choke during startup.

I know enough to be dangerious when it comes to Tecumseh's. I've had the Wheel Horse 502 with the original HT55C-3088...ran good if you used it every other day. Had a 502 with a H-60 that ran good if you used it every other day. Had a REO-65 that started and ran for a while and then quite for no reason...H-60 I have an Ariens Snow Blower with a 3.5 Tecumseh that runs good through the years (1985)...if you spend the time to replace the pump hoses in the fall. The problem with all of them, is they are pull starts...except my snow blower has an electric start if you use it...and I do. Pull starts are not you friend when you reach a certain age. They are good engines and I have, really, nothing bad to say about them...except that they have become very hard to find parts for. Jim, when it comes to a cold start, it is all about the choke and the fuel pump.

Here is what it looks liike when you draw it off the primary fermenter into the secondary fermenter...26 1/2 gallons There is a lot of yeast and grape stuff in the bottle while it still works it's Specific Gravity down. I need to re-rack in like 3 weeks to draw most of that off. Not too long after that, it will look like the wine that is 2 years old next to it. Takes 6 months to a year to be drinkable.

don't go cheap on the primer bulb either. I had one old new stock split and dump a bunch of gas on the shop floor overnight. got these on the jungle site and are new good quality. One thing to mention on the fuel thing I notices if I run the machines at least once a week it is not an issue. Like @kpinnc says going over the electric starter circuit is a must. I know those starters can get tired and cause a long crack issue too.

I'm just gonna basically repeat what has already been said: some type of external fuel pump (I use primer bulbs and electric on different tractors) will transform how quickly your tractors crank. My 1991 520-H cranks literally as soon as it turns over. Same with other machines as well. Aside from the quicker starts, this translates into starters and batteries clearly lasting longer than before.

Put the rear hitch and seat on tonight now just some little love adjustment to the old 753 little bit closer

Pete... I think you were referring to my 310-8. Picked it up for free. Non running. Needed new carb, head gasket, fuel pump. It runs and drives like brand new. It also got a deep cleaning, some touch up paint and new decals. Some pics when I picked it up and during its repair.

Just picked up this old girl today. Older restoration. Need to get more info on it. Got it from vintage sled collector. Has not been run it at least 10 plus years I would think. Looking forward to getting it running but this will be a nice addition to the barn…

Just picked up an 856 from a landscaping supply company in South Bend. This little guy had been purchased new in ‘66 and tended the same plot of land from them until the early 2000’s. It’s been worked harder than most and is definitely rougher than I had hoped but I’m really excited to get to work. At some point the original Kohler failed and was replaced with a Magnum, not sure how many hours on the new engine. I talked to the guy at the family owned landscape company and he said they used it to cultivate the fields.

Hope none of it goes BOOM! When I first met my wife we had dinner at her Mom's house. She was quite the character. I used the bathroom and went to dry my hands and noticed all of these purple towels. I asked, "What's up with all of the purple towels?" Her Mom answers, " I made wine and put the bottles in the bottom of the towel cabinet and they blew up! '

Yup. DOM was 4 digit number , Sometimes followed by a letter (I.E. 7365j which would be 365'th day of a year ending in 7) We'd often get a clue of which decade it was made in based on the styling & tins, and the ignition systems (If it had electronic ignition and DOM starts with 7 it would be at least a 1987 model, for example) So your engines, in any case, very likely were not original to your horses, Or, as Squonk pointed out as I wrote this, might be an original block but the tins robbed off something else, either way it would make for tricky parts lookups , even back when fixin' horses was my day job... I quickly learned to memorize part numbers just based on what part I was holding in my hand, didn't need a lookup then.

@Ed KennellCongrats on the 60 years. Many of us have had the same back issues, so we can sympathize. In 2015 I had my fusion, then in 2022, the pain flared up. I took prednisone and within a few days, it was like I had no problems. I hope Mrs. K's problem is something simple.

The mid Tach o Matic will work. You will need an adapter to use the mule drive set up. I did these to my 67 1267 and can run the newer deck and snow blower on it,

Thanks all....going to redo the fuel line and filters to start and follow other advice as well. I do have some ethanol free gas I'll start using as well for an old Honda Scrambler I have.

Most problems are the result of deferred maintenance, things that should have been done last year but weren't. One other thing to consider is the gas you are using. If you are using gas with 10% Ethanol in it please STOP. Ethanol will cause problems in your fuel system. You can find a gas station near you that sells ethanol-free gas (recreational gas) by using this web site; https://www.pure-gas.org/

@TonyBer agree with @lynnmor on the fix / intended function of your set up , probably do a good carb clean out / rebuild , added fuel filter , have these on all my engines , in a vertical spot just before carb https://www.amazon.com/MINOOM-Check-Valve-Inline-Gasoline/dp/B0BYMF6HXD/ref=asc_df_B0BYMF6HXD/?tag=hyprod-2 , you might find it locally at an auto parts , I use clear vinyl fuel line so I can SEE THE HELD , STAGED FUEL , GOING TO CARB , would bet you have a collective amount of issues on your tank to carb . time for a re do , would also check tank for debris , fuel valve , pete

B T W , I like a lubrication soak / rub down on any recent tractor salvation , feeds the paint and buffs out to a deep shine , while you are in the baseline stage , add a ground wire from the battery ground bolt , to the engine tin electrical , RECTIFIER , insuring solid amperage / charging rate , thats a common problem spot. also use the highest cut setting to enhance discharge , help discharge . like Lucas x tra heavy duty green grease , for reliable lubrication . stay at it , pete

Thinking this is also a result out of the so called “robotmowers industry“ because they‘re grows more and more. Nothing against an electric Mower, because they advertise and offer you ain‘t waste your time while Mowing. The flip side of that coin is people running in a Gym to move weights because of lack of natural movement instead they do their Workout in the own garden. - so far they have one. For heavy work an technical helper is a good thing no doubt at all but some things like raking leafes or other small jobs give me sensfully movement than a Gym.shure it is much easier to do it with a machine but our Bodies be designed to move not to rest only. By asking a Physio how to move, you can prevent lot‘s of problems later with your Body like Backpains and do all the exercices outside in Nature with the positive item your. Invented to reduce the manpower while mowing, they get addicted to have one by advertizing. but there be things they cannot do. i find that a little scarry. All must now be „clean and green“ and goes electric, doesn‘t matter where the Energy comes from - even doesn’t matter the batteries. In South America there be landscapes, they be damaged and poisoned for very long timeline only while Lithium collecting. Here nobody cares. Here our green jokers praises the Lithium batteries and been offered as „ super green and envoiremental saving“ batteries - like praising a Lord. The Water waste and envoiremental damage while lithium collecting will in the industry be still ignored because here is the battery charged with hopefully Solar or Wind energy and offered as „envoiremental green“ They forgot that their „supergreen battery“ is made by destroying landscapes poisoned peoples and water. That tell‘s me a lot about their Mindsets. Actual they wonder where the Water is but in my equation it is not missed - it is just misused and poisoned. The whole planet turns it look over the last million of years that‘s a part of the truth. In the past few years we have more and more dramatic events like Vulcan erruptions and earthquakes than in the last decades. - Island erruption on Vulcan - Italy the erruption of Vesuv, - turkey earthquake in stage 5 and so on - all that in less than a year and not be made of any people. The planet changed its look again - permanently. We have to learn that to survive. All this can be verified. Natural catastrophes will be result of such changings and „not only followed by our footprint“.. The Continental drift runs each year with about 7-9 cm a year what is evident and it still keeps on. for me it is clear, this Planet changes it‘s surface continouesly even when there be a zero emmission planet the next periodes. Along with that also the Sea Streaming will changing and even if it will be just few cm, that changes a lot because our Weather is a result and affected of that Sea Streams. I ain‘t wanna ignore the CO2 affect on our Weather, but there are much more effects they must be included in this equations. I observe that the more they hadle over to AI the more their own intelligence drops...😎

I’ve been in the booth the last couple weeks recording Rylee’s football team for film review days. Last night, I had the honor to stand on our team’s side for the first time. Being high in the stands, I was glad to see the veterans in their formation and everyone else paying their respects with their hands over their hearts. I have the 2 gallon version. Wife and I went to a local dealer's open house. She decided to buy a tiller and she bought me the gas can so I wouldn't pout!

So I have a 1968 Electro12. I would like to add a mower deck. Apparently I need a Speed Hitch #85211 (No Longer Available). I don't even know what that looks like. Option #2: I have extra Attach-Amatic parts and mule drive. Question: Could I make that work??

I've made a free DOWNLOAD file named UPGRADE.pdf. It'll show you what to do to 'upgrade' the Electro 12 to accept the 'Tach-o-Matic implements.... with ease. This method eliminates the awkward SIDE belt drive... changing that to FRONT belt drive as is used from 1973 and newer model tractors. With this, most ANY mower deck can be used. Hmm, and here I just wrote a reply in another thread about long crank times... but my checklist I wrote there is pretty much the same as I'd check on a Tecumseh... If it runs perfectly once it is running, then problem is in start-up, and all the same things apply as to a long crank time issue. -

No lights no hovering. I’m a dang realist, just wondering.

Had a few out today for some fresh air.

Short frame tractors steer easy. Welding it is overkill and drilling it larger is not going to hurt it. Wheel Horse had a Service Bulletin on the round hoods about drilling out the shaft and steering arms when the pins got weak and the holes got worn.

Great to hear from you and your continued progress. Prayers for a full recovery. Tell you Physical Therapist that some wrench motion exercises would be very motivating.
