5 pointsI can't believe people have soo much trouble pouring gas! Big snowstorm. I'm out running a walk behind snow blower at work. I call the groundskeeper to bring me some gas. He comes with a new can and one of those EZ spouts shown on it. Tips the can, overflows the tank and now there is gas all over the hot engine , the snow blower and his shoes. Snow blower started smoking. I decided it was a good time to take a break and get some hot chocolate. I left it right in the middle of a parking lot where it had quit. Boss called and asked why it was there. I told him if it blew up it would cause the least amount of damage there,

4 pointsI have the same plastic can. 2-1/2 gallons. The paper label came off years ago, but it's still the best gas can in my collection. Only recently did I have to replace the rubber spout.

3 pointsFor those who don't know, I suffered a stroke on June first while visiting our granddaughter in Florida. I spent seven weeks in the hospital and rehabilitation before we were able to return home to North Carolina. Over the past couple weeks I have had some in-home PT and the progress has been amazing. I am able to do so many simple things we all take for granted like having a shower and caring for myself without being a burden to my wife. I can stand for brief periods without hanging onto anything. My ability to concentrate on tasks like typing this update has improved immensely, I am only taking a few medications rather than over a dozen and I know that the side effects of the meds was holding me back. I never was one to exercise for the sake of exercising but after so much time in a hospital bed I am pumping Iron (although it is only five pounds) and doing resistance exercise to regain some of what was lost. It will be some time before I can get out to the shop and do some Horsing Around but I know that it will happen. Thanks to all who have prayed for my recovery, please keep praying, God hears all of us and has been so good to me.

3 pointsThanks Guys !! My fishing buddy Ray (whose Birthday is today) got my boat out and we spnt the day on the Fox River. I had and consumed a whole bottle of a 3 year old Homemade Concord Wine. It was an excellent day !! Ordered Chinese for dinner and Chris made a homemade Cherry Pie. You guys are great and after looking at the list here, it is amazing how many of you I have met and or talked with through the years. Thank You !!

3 pointsIf you cut the valve seat, just a tad, it will sink the valve a bit to get your .002 and a bit more back. Cut the seat, hand lap the valve to get a decent seating pattern, Remeasure the valve clearance and re-cut the stem.....BT,DT.... Edit - Grinding the valve angled surface does the same thing..... 3 pointsWhat you are looking to do is relatively easy. There are however many things to consider if success and longevity of project is to be achieved not to mention also safety. Forget about dowels pipes or even hinges for such a project . It will not last. You also do not need wheels for what you want to do. I have done some with wheels but they were over 12 feet in length and motorized. I have done many such a project one illustrated on photos below. That unit probably weighs well over 700 pounds and can be safely operated by a child. I f you are serious in doing it if you want i will draw it for you and even furnish you with the correct hardware free of charge. This project was for a client who had extremely valuable items and artifacts . They are kept in secret room behind cabinet. One half of cabinet opens to access room. It is impossible to know it when closed. Needless to say it is also alarmed. This is the hardware you need for such a project . Rixon Firemark pivots. Top pivot with walking beam with needle bearings Bottom pivot load bearing

3 pointsCongrats @Pullstart and @ebinmaine on your progress staying healthy. While I don't dispute there are folks who need certain meds, the reality is we are such an over medicated society due to the influence of big pharma and its tentacles in the medical industry and the government. Common sense, healthy diet, proper supplements, physical activity and sensing what our own bodies need or don't need are the keys to good health.

3 pointsI’m just a fan of the old Jerry Jug. Basic gas can, no fancy pour spout, vent that you can regulate.
-
3 pointsNine years have passed since I took this project apart, I finally got the sickle bar painted and back on the RJ….
-
3 pointsAin't going to work Ed, those cans are to old. looks like a couple were on the Mayflower? All kidding aside, those are real gas cans.
-
3 pointsI converted my cans with EZ-POUR spouts before these cheap ones came out, I don't know which is better but I am satisfied with what I have.

2 pointsSeptember 22 thru 24th, 2023 in South Jacksonville, Illinois ! A very good tractor show! My 1958 RJ was used in 2013 to promote Wheel Horse as the tractor of the year in 2013. https://prairielandheritage.com

2 pointsHave to agree with you on this one. I have big bones and am "stocky" but have very little fat on my body. At 5'7" I weigh around 175, which I think puts me in the "dang close to obese" category with their stupid BMI rules. In high school 50 years ago I weighed 170 for football season and dropped to 158 for wrestling, but in neither case was I anywhere near obese, nor am I now. The main reason it bothers me at all though, is that we have to get health points to keep a discount on our healthcare premiums, and it's harder to get points when you're accused of being obese or near it. Dumb rules.

2 points@Sailman we can’t discount good old vitamin D and some of nature’s salt water from the nearest (or furthest) ocean!

2 pointsI do a little surgery to all my High Tech Spring Loaded Self Sealing Guaranteed to Spill cans. Just take the spout off, push the plunger, and break off the valve. They keep showing up at the action for free or 10 for a buck.

2 points@Pullstart obvious snake oil will not recover a mechanical problem , but it will fefinetly help to prevent one, would also plan a regular fuel additive to that , kano / Kroil has a fuel additive . combined with a regular drive , that will cut the crud , free up the rings and related grunge in that engine .watch engine oil color condition , for what's going on , refresh , having recovered a number of engines , getting to a cleaner base line of operation , is what you want . this will not be a one and done transformation , but those LS engines are very stout . once you recover , neglect . its up you to build on that . personally would take advantage of any no rot areas , get some lubrication soaking going on , lots of mineral oil on sale on the net . have an air compressor? a spray , nozzle / extension wand , into seamed areas, will insure lubrication , salvation . Tyvek paper suit , gloves , face mask , use any over spray on paint to paint recover rub down ,, been there done that , Pete

2 pointsI’ve been in the booth the last couple weeks recording Rylee’s football team for film review days. Last night, I had the honor to stand on our team’s side for the first time. Being high in the stands, I was glad to see the veterans in their formation and everyone else paying their respects with their hands over their hearts. I’m thankful for those who take that with such respect, gratitude and honor. Thank you Mr. a Richard, for being a veteran, for being strong and confident in your recovery!

2 pointsKnock ✊ on wood 🪵 I'm happy to report after a month and half of no meds and changing supplements I'm feeling.... pretty good. I weighed in at 265.9. Lightest I've been in quite awhile.

2 pointsOne of the first time I ever actually mowed grass was on a rear engine snapper like Forest Gump has in the movie. I remember it had a 30” deck and honestly it mowed like a dream. I also learned to prime metal with a rattle can on that rear engine rider. Good times really. It’s a shame these brands are almost all gone

2 pointsShort frame tractors steer easy. Welding it is overkill and drilling it larger is not going to hurt it. Wheel Horse had a Service Bulletin on the round hoods about drilling out the shaft and steering arms when the pins got weak and the holes got worn.
-
2 pointsI welded this same joint on the 854 I refurbished. Even used flux-core but I made sure to really heat up the cast iron fan gear with a propane torch before doing the weld. Be aware that getting the combined front arm/shaft/gear in and out through the frame rails can be tricky with the engine in place!

2 pointsI understand it’s high priced the question tho was whether it was something real and it most definitely is

1 pointGood Evening All, While I never really cared for Simplicity or Snapper (I did like there older push mowers) it's sad to see the door closing. Much like Toro did to Wheel Horse in 2007---I understand as a business if you not making money then things gotta change. But still sad... No more Bolens, Wheel Horse, Real Craftsmans / Sears and now Simplicity and Snapper among others I'm sure I've forgotten. Go give your WH a hug... Tony

1 pointHey Dave, since you said that the PO has messed with the governor, I suspect that the one in question is the top pic. Pretty easy. Loosen the governor arm. Clamp a set of vise grips on the shaft so the weight of the grips rotates the shaft counter-clockwise. Push the throttle linkage to the left (to the idle position, which rotates the arm on the governor shaft) Tighten the arm on the shaft (do not overtighten as to "stretch" the clamping end of the arm). Done.

1 pointYou say it was rebuilt. By whom? There was sand in it. My first guess is there is still sand in the bore for the shift forks keeping them from moving fully. In this picture one half of the case is missing. The 2 pins on the right are the forks. They have to be able to slide back and forth and the other half of the trans case has bored holes they slide in. If the bores have sand in them they wont be able to slide all the way forward (if the trans is in the tractor to get first and reverse)

1 pointJust a slight tangent off the subject of PayPal, but I have finally broken my wife of writing checks to pay bills. Anyone who wants a check gets paid via a bill-pay check from my bank. All done on line. Everything else gets paid via our Southwest Airlines credit card, where we earn points.

1 pointThat's cool Tony but just because that's what he's asking don't mean he's gonna get it. Would be cool to have tho but like a nos LSE no use for it but at a static display. Tell him good luck with his sale.

1 pointSorry... Its just that, I haven't been this excited since i sent my drivers license, ss# and date of birth to a Nigerian Prince a few days ago in exchange for $2,000,000 usd. Still waiting ...
-
1 pointPretty cool and bet it's better than the new fangled ones that aren’t supposed to spill gas all over but do.
