11 pointsI saw a cleaning company throwing out everything at a abandoned house and new the owner mowed with a wheel horse tractor so I stopped to see if it was still there. They said yes and it was going to get scrapped along with another one. I offered 50 bucks for a running but in rough shape b100 auto and a toro wheel horse classic which doesn't look like it has run in a long time along with a snow blade and chains some times it payed to stop and ask

4 pointsI found it @ebinmaine! This is a ‘67 Columbia tandem, I do believe. It was given to me by a man who worked for me about 10-12 years ago. After that, he got cancer and fought hard through the chemo but he didn’t last too long. Chris was an awesome human being and was very generous to give me this. We’ve had it camping from time to time. Once we had the tandem, a tag along, a 2 place kid wagon, and a handful of beach wagons tied behind it. I’d love to find pictures of that one!

4 pointsGood idea. I plan to put a 2” receiver in the front of/under my workbench. I can then make a scroll saw insert, vise, bike clamp, etc. It will be a multi use bench.

3 pointsThis one was for sale 39 years ago until I bought it from the dealer 😂 39 years to the month! Used it like crazy and restored it a few years ago.

3 pointsI finished up cleaning and rebuilding the carburetor this evening. Took a fair amount of extra time on this one because it was painted black and covered with dirt so it had a bunch alternating dips and sprays in the ultrasonic cleaner and brake clean. Here's the before n after.

3 pointsMay want to place an add in the classified wanted section for better exposure . Good luck @Emt260 in your search.

3 pointsAround twenty years ago I worked for an excavating company that was hiring to do some cleanup after a junkyard closed. We uncovered what was their tire pit. They would just push them over a bank and cover them with sand. We must have dug up thousands of tires, that were buried for thirty years or more with not much sign of decomposition. I think we filled three 48’ box trailers, two guys that bounced the tires around to get the sand out before loading them by hand and stacking in the trailer. (I did not do that part of the job!)

3 pointsHi. This is a cool brochure, thanks Lane! I color corrected the individual pages, sequenced them, and joined them into a pdf. WH Attachments & Accessories Brochure.pdf

2 pointsHow uncommon are the 1046 tractors I have one and the only thing I see about them is in all red considering sale it when I got it had a hi/lo and knew that wasn’t correct so put a 3 speed back in it

2 pointsHow much of the plug is still sticking out. If you have at least 1/8", you should be able to get a pair of vice-grips on it. If not, clean the inside of the 1/4" Allen hole of all grease and dirt. Then get Torx bit that is slightly larger then a 1/4" Allen, probably T40, and drive it in. Then use your 3/8" drive to turn it out.

2 pointsYou going to get into the tractor manufacturing business and put them all back together?
-
2 pointsI just went through this with my tractor I heated up a little with a torch and then found a torques bit that was close tapped it in the rounded out Allen head hole and it came right out. Assuming this is the same type of plug you are having issues with I used the torques bit style that goes on a ratchet socket rench

2 pointsHere's a thread showing a good list. You'll be able to use some of the lighter attachments that don't get too aggressive with ground engagement.

2 pointsNice design. I like how the hydraulic cylinder is in the middle of the lift arms. I have wanted to move the cylinder to the middle on my gt14. I have seen the rear lift arms break off the pivot bar and I believe (my opinion) that it is because it lifts from one side. Seems like that would put torsional strain on the upper lift assembly. I am not an engineer but just my thoughts. Seems like it would work better with the forces that are present being applied evenly across the upper arms. I plan on doing it one day as I have an extra upper & lower bracket to experiment with. Your attention to detail is very nice.

1 pointPut on by a couple of members from the Pickett Steam Club. Not a great turn out for spectators and not a big flea market. was the feature. We had fun tho. Pile of gravel brought in for us to play with mid blades. Some lineups... One of the few shows where they give out awards. I got one for the Senior & best orginal. Well it's far from orginal by our standards so it's the thought that counts I guess. Dan got one for best display. Rightfully so the hoarder had sixteen tractors in his display!

1 pointI am mowing again! On reflection, I believe my problems came from a faulty rectifier connection and a faulty ammeter connection. I was puzzled that I had no electrical power after the engine stalled (no soleniod click, no lights...) The more I thought about it it seem logical the I had a problem in the circuit between the battery and the key switch. I believe the engine was not starving for fuel it was starving for spark. Since there are only a few connections, a 25 amp fuse and the ammeter in the circuit. I bypassed the ammeter and I have electric power when I need it, I just twisted the wires together and put a wire nut on the connection. I have ordered a volt gauge to put in where the ammeter was. My stalling-out problem was operator error. In my search for problems, I removed the carb and cleaned it and remounted it. Unfortunately I had set the main fuel and idle needles too lean so I was running the engine very hot. I had set the points at 0.020" and static timed them but I must have done something wrong because when I checked the points again I noticed that the old points had a wider gap. - so I also had an ignitation problem as well. I got everything back together and took it to my mechanic friend who said he thought it was running well. So far new points, new condenser, new coil, new plug, new plug wire, new battery, new rectifier, cleaned carb, proper valve clearance, dedicated ground wires to the rectifier, solenoid, and head lights, I mowed some fairly heavy grass for a few minutes this afternoon and everything seemed to be OK. I appreciate all of you who provided suggestions and input on my problems.

1 pointI bought the small tire changer from HF, mounted it on a trailer hitch extension. Works like a charm mounting and dismounting the small front tires. Solid Waste Landfill takes the old tires.

1 pointWithout seeing exactly how window is built it is hard to come up with a solution although yours sounds reasonable. As for the movement it is excessive reflecting a fault of some type in construction and or design. I have built and also installed manufactured windows larger than that and none flexed even a fraction of what you experience.

1 pointThis issue is one of the reasons I take my tires to Discount Tire for mounting. They dispose of them the correct way. 2.50 per tire charge last time. No curbside pickup and no drop off options.

1 pointThis guy is a certified welder, Vietnam vet, former Air Marshal, and Former Foundry foreman. Patches decks back together and the only way you can tell is by the paint. He races go karts and builds 2 cycle race motors. A'int much he doesn't know. He built my Power King Loader

1 pointAlmost forgot about the raffle tractor. Some of the guys that run the show did up a '68 Charger 12 to raffle off. A snafu with the state in getting a raffle license but I guess allowed to sell tickets on club property. I wanted to sell and display at our other shows and even offered to be the fall guy we get busted. I guess they did come out a little ahead so it's all good. Dan did the paint & put on the stickers and I donated parts. Decals of course by @Vinylguy. Not the correct motor and a couple of other minor issues but good enough for the women we go out with. A big hats off to @rjg854 for sending us the correct oil pan and didn’t even let us pay for shipping. You were mentioned for sure Randy and cuss words were not used this time. I put your name on one of my six tickets. I wouldn't have won if my name was on every ticket in the barrel. Some guy we didn’t know won. It was also mentioned how the crowd is a such tight knit bunch.

1 pointWell for $125 and a trip to staten island. Id say its coming along. The piece of stainless steel that she came with for a hood had to shape up and give sharper edges and trim for air cleaner and exhaust. Just need to strip it finish the cut edges and paint it almond.

1 pointI cleaned the 42" RD last week and tackled the 48" SD today. Little more work to drag the 48"er out from under the 417A. Sure glad I have hydraulic lifts to put it back on. Did the Greasy Pete thing to the mule drive bearings. I know, it's not Lucas, but it is green , tacky, and high temperature.

1 point@Wheel-N-It Van here are some pictures of my stack brace. I used 1/2” square tube, smashed into a flange at the block. For the pipe clamp, I used n old racer’s clamp trick. Weld a couple 1/4” tubes to a sleeve, then cut the sleeve and tubes sectionally. I also TIG welded the 90 degree elbow to the 3/4” pipe to prevent it from rotating. A good quality conduit lock nut could do the same job. Ultimately, I imagine we have about the same weight to support, your heavy pipe and my Cherry Bomb.

1 pointThese new Carlisle Turf Savers came on the Raider with rusty wheels. It was raining so cleaned and sanded them. Clear up just before lunch . Went back and water sanded them and painted . It's white looks a lot better then dirt and rust.

1 pointNice cool rainy day. Time to get ready for the next wet mowing.

1 pointI did a little maintenance on the Wally Digger Backhoe today. New air filter. Verified fluid levels. I put the muffler back on so I could use the machine. After I got it put back together a bit we used it to move some rocks. We moved the rocks circled in red from across the driveway to create a little wall just inside of where they are now. It's headed back into the new pole barn workshop so I can pop the cylinder head off to clean that and adjust the valves.

1 pointTook advantage of a cooler day to haul two trailer loads of branches blown down in the last windstorm, trim dead boxwood branches and forsythia and uproot invasive grapevines, honeysuckle. And yeah, I know I shoulda done for the forsythia right after it bloomed in spring! Tomorrow it all goes through the chipper/shredder.
