5 pointsI am happy to see that a 1994 520-H was called a “SUPER” garden tractor ! Plus I bought mine in 2017 for $140 or so. It came with a 48 inch SD deck, rototiller, and a leaf vac/ trailer… I’m happy with it…

5 pointsRunning the mower deck is the biggest problem. You can turn the engine around and use a jackshaft with 2 bearings set up in between the engine and trans with 2 pulleys on it to get the correct drive rotation. Maybe an extra pulley on the trans input side and use an older 60s style pedal to engage the belt for a deck. ???

5 pointswas checking out my grandsons 91 ford ranger pick up , for an overall look see, oil spray lubricated that down , almost a year now , every body seam has an oil slick on / in it , frame its totally draped with oil film , tail gate , solid , and oil film at bottom edge , leaf springs , zero rust , oil film , every box channel , gear spray , firewall , front suspension , oil film , he recently gave it a penetrating oil clean cloth rub down , just pointed out some maintiance , we can do . also saw a relatively new , ford truck , with rust forming at each wheel well ,and bottom of cab , not that difficult , go oily , pete

5 pointsI never would have called myself a golfer either, but about 4 years ago I was invited to an annual Kentucky trip and though I argued not to, my loving wife sent me away with the boys. Now, I have a 74 year old “Caddy” who brings me every Tuesday and continues to tell me what I’m doing wrong. He’s become a great friend and mentor, golf or not!

I, for one NEVER have to work on my long game, short game, or slice..... or miss a Tee Time...... 'cause I DON'T PLAY GOLF!!! I already have too may things in my life that aggrivate me.

4 pointsIt’s been a while since I was here, and now I have no idea how I got here! Two weeks (tomorrow), I started feeling a pain in my back. I wasn’t sure what it is, or how it got there. Laying down for sleep at night is the worst, no comfortable positions to lay and lots of moaning and groaning meaning neither Mrs. P, nor myself sleep much. Once I was upright for the day, I had dull pains and shoots but nothing I couldn’t push through, even changing tires on the old truck, working in the shop or on the ground doing my driveshaft workings. I started with my usual massage and chiropractor visit. Yep, I’m man enough to say I am a regular 1hr massage visitor, followed by the cracker. No funny business Uncle Jim! Nothing really took care of this certain pain, and after “walking it off” for long enough, I called the doc. I was beginning to wonder if it was an early onset of a kidney stone, or something in my guys more than muscular skeletal stuff I’m used to hurting. After a quick trip to the next big city, I was told I cracked a rib. It got me wondering how I could have done a thing, or which one thing could have done it! He prescribed me some Motrin, a muscle relaxer and a steroid “soup” he called it. I had me a ham sammy, popped my “soup” and headed to the golf course last night! Well, muscle relaxers and a couple twisted teas must be the secret to golf, as one may believe it would screw me up, I shot my best round ever! I ended up with a 46 on 9 holes and could point out at least three or four way bad shots, be it my first drive on a par 5 barely clearing the white tees, or blading it on a 60 year chip and shooting 20 yards past the pin. No, I haven’t slowed much except I vegged around most of the day yesterday before my appointment. I’m glad to know it’s something that just needs “walking off” and not an internal issue. I think this is my first real rib crack or break ever and now I know what to expect for my next one After golf, I was all gung-ho, until I weren’t. About 7:00 or maybe a bit after, I hit a wall and crawled myself into bed. Nearly 12 hours later, alarms were ringing and I was completely fine with shutting mine off and finding more rest!

One of the great parts of Wheel Horse Garden Tractors is the interchangeability of parts from model to model and year to year, The down side is that after five decades or more with no knowledge of what previous owners may have changed you can't say for sure what model it was when it left the factory. My thought is that as long as you enjoy your Wheel Horse nothing else really matters! Have fun with it and please send more

4 pointsI have a pallet sized emergency shower basin that I’ve often thought of “what to do with it?” It could easily become a pump station for clean outs! Basically a large parts washer.

4 pointsMaybe not applicable in our small transmissions, but a guy I recently met has done this procedure many times in big tractor transmissions. He and a buddy have a 15 or 20 gallon barrel that sits below the drain plug of the transmission. They have a submersible pump and a special nozzle on the end of the hose that fits inside a fill port of the trans and shoots the fuel like a shower head. They fill the transmission, fill the bucket mostly, then crack the drain plug to leak out as fast as the pump can shoot. I thought it was too dandy an idea not to share!

3 pointsnot really sure, but I want to say $499.95 , and that was back in 1988 or 1989 I am thinking.. I just seem to remember the suitcase weights kit cost nearly as much as the snow blade add-on or maybe it was the snow cab? after 25-30 years, memory can be fuzzy - I did not work the sales counter much if at all. I was more the A tech in the shop so stayed pretty busy most of the year... I pretty much only just quoted repair jobs, so parts I knew from memory.. accessories, pricing, and units, not so much.

3 pointsA motorcycle transmission output shaft rotates CCW and is on the LH side. The brake shaft on an 8-speed transmission is also on the LH side and rotates CCW. You could run a chain drive from the cycle transmission to the brake shaft, thus not using the gears in the WH transmission. @Pullstarttried this on his Snowmotractor and got the idea from another WH member.

3 pointsI'd agree, they'd be relatively rare - I hated them myself, and we never sold very many (maybe 2 or 3 in the years I worked at the WH Dealer) , preferring to do Loaded tires (Calcium , and later Antiffreeze) or wheel weights, both of which were a cheaper option than the suitcase weight kit. the weights themselves were often lost/forgotten after so many years when the owner got tired of putting them on and taking them off when he wanted to change implements, etc. so it'd be really rare to come up with a complete original set, IMHO.

Wonder if he can do the hen's teeth flat ones on '62 '63 models? I just did one with PC-7 at the advice of @oliver2-44 and it worked nicely. Lots of hand sanding but sands easily. Finished by a couple of coats of bedliner. Some have used body filler with good results. Another option is replace it with a new one. The replacement is splined for JDs but can be bored to 3/4. @Achto used one on a resto.

3 pointsHey guys, thanks for the info. Not sure if you got my response yesterday but I looked at the PTO lever from the battery compartment and yes a few more washers will draw the handle in closer since its so loose. Tried to get to the switch by removing the side panel but found out after I removed the top 2 screws of that panel inside near battery compartment that the panel was also attached to the front panel where the throttle was located. It seemed I had to remove a lot more stuff in order to get to the switch. Figured I would add the washers and get a new cotter pin and try to bring in the handle closer first hoping that would work before I got into more trouble. lol - I was successful yesterday fixing a leak under plastic fuel tank. Put in a new grommet and new valve , added gas and no leaks. One down, one more to go.

3 pointsThere was a lot of hoopla about how big & heavy the Case 150 was. Don't know what all the to do was about, heck it fit right on my 6 1/2' x 12' single axle trailer. It pays to over build.

2 pointsI recently purchased what I thought was a 69 charger 10 with a motor swap for a 10 hp kohler it has charger 10 decals. I am doing a full restoration However after tearing it down I realized the model number 1 7931 is for a 68 charger 9. But really it's almost identical to a charger 12 because of the Kohler motor. Did someone swap out the hood stand where the model number is located? Or is this truly a charger 9 with a Kohler motor? Or is this a charger 12 with the original motor? I am still a newbie. Is there anyway to find out? I already received my decals for a charger 10 Any insight would be appreciated Thanks in advance

2 pointsI do not have a picture of the one the guy is selling, but here is the weights and a bracket off of google images I found. Very similar and he has the complete set. He is asking 400. I think it's fair considering the rarity of the item, but wanted some more insight before I purchase it.

2 pointsPC-7 is a great workable epoxy that hardens like steel! Don’t use too much, just enough to fill and clean it up. It can be worked with power sanders, files, Emory cloth, etc. Given your handle, I’d believe you could finish it as needed

2 pointsI've seen golf cart gas engines that crank both directions, tied to a torque converter. That's what allowed for reverse. I wanna say they were made by Robin? I know transverse mounted engines like how Cub, Case, Ford, Simplicity and others alternated which side of the engine faced forward. That made for left-discharge mower decks on the Case tractors. But all of those engines turned the same direction.

2 pointsI can verify no more than two exist because it was a practical joke played on the "purist" folks. Good or bad, it was well executed- in both the prank and the tractor restomod itself. All done in time for the PA show. Technically there were two machines because the first was created with custom decals that were purposely weathered, and pics to back up a claim of one in the weeds that was very convincing. Then Eldon (the perpetrator of said prank) produced a beautiful build combination of a C-195 and 520-H. It generated quite a few giggles at the show that year. It also irked a few as well. But it was all in fun. And it was the same machine (mostly) as the "first" one from the pics in the woods.

2 points@Lane Ranger back in the day when I was first lawn tractor shopping , it was the horse , C85 against the CASE big tire model . they were both what I wanted , horse won out for cheaper , still 2 k + , still have it , liked the case gearing / drive set up , they would not talk anything on price . took advantage of its solid build , regular maintiance , eliminate repedative problems , still my favorite , 41 years later , pete
