6 pointsWell another one bites the dust to the addition! He has his first one in pieces and is already picking up the second one. @mower Don't bother trying to tell us its a "parts machine" for the first one, we've all been where you are and were here to support you! But you can use that one on the wife a time or two. How's that go.. its a parts machine for the first one, then the third is a parts machine to use up the other parts you had left from the second one. etc etc. Hope you have good reflexes and can duck fast when the frying pan comes out on the 3rd one.

5 pointsYes I've had success cutting them with a grinder. I use a combination of Forney cut off wheels and Makita wheels. Makita makes a thinner wheel. First I stack them on my grinder to get proper thickness. Then I make my first cut into some junk steel to even out the diameter of the wheels. The rest is a steady hand and correct orientation to the piece. Last go back to one wheel for a bit of clean up, or use a Dremel. My suggestion is to try it on a scrap piece first. Good luck to those that may try this procedure.

5 pointsGot the wiring from the switches too the generator done just waiting for parts to come in

4 pointsWhat will become of my collection of Wheel Horses? and tools and guns and boats and fishing tackle and Wild Turkey bottles and tree stands and turkey calls and tents and trail cameras and more than a hundred deer, bear, antelope, and turkey mounts I can only hope She doesn't sell it for what I told her I paid for it.

4 pointsThis literally made me LOL here at my desk!!! parts machine, parts parts machine, parts parts parts machine! She will never catch on! Well its cheap enough so i just had to! Plus i have learned quick reflexes when i hear things out of the ordinary and she is at my 6! Instinct if you will If she is not careful i will turn her closet into parts storage!

4 pointsWhile it was on the lift, it got a fresh oil change. I don’t know if I’ve ever topped off the tank, in 12-13 years of ownership. I stuck $89 and some change of rec fuel in and that should last a few days! I never balanced the tires, just popped all the old weights off and mounted ‘em up. No shimmy or shake at 55, good enough for who it’s for!

3 pointsRuns and drives. New fuse block, fuel filter and line. Runs good when sitting still, but if you touch it, it starts to run rough. Has some real fine dirt in the tank so I think it's clogging the tank filter. Cleaning the carb doesn't help. Needs a tube in front left tire. Has two decks, the one on it is almost new. Has hub caps and integral hitch. I think it's worth my asking price just in parts. New battery. I have too many projects and would like to see this go to a new home and see some use! 20230731_195133.mp4

3 pointsStopped by lowes today to pick up a battery powered air compressor I find them very handy with tons of pool floats and old wheel horse tires 😅 was going to get a kobalt one to match my batteries I already have but then I noticed this craftsman one and this one is battery powered or wall outlet and even cigarette lighter powered, unlike the kobalt that was strictly battery powered. This one also has a low pressure air hose for air mattress or big pool floats. So far worth the purchase. AND I got 2 batteries for the price of one. They had a 4ah & 2ah with charger combo kit for same price as a charger and a 4ah battery.

3 pointsOk thx Sylvan pto looks like mine . My c105 is running great now and cutting like new again !

3 pointsThanks for pointing that out Dick. I have not thought about tie rod clearance. I'll check it before I install the axle pivot.
-
3 pointsto the Yes, the blades must turn CCW viewed from the bottom. If yours are turning CW, you must have a twist in the belt between the PTO and the deck drive pulley.
-
3 pointsExactly Mike. Although the old blades are as long as the new blades, The effective cutting length must be measured from the center of rotation to the fartherest point on the blade. It looks like the old blades will measure about 1/4" shorter than the new blades. Here's a crude not to scale sketch to show how the cutting circle decreases in size. c

3 pointsYou might try to find a business that specializes in Gas Fireplaces instead of a HVAC company. Can you find a manufacturer name on the gas fireplace? If so, contactact them and see who is a dealer in your area.

2 pointsI Hello, I'm from Germany and I also have 2 Toro 520LXi. I also put 26x12-12 tires on one. But had to lift the bowl.

2 pointsMaybe a different type of key switch like this? I didn't check out this switch particulars to confirm it would work with a battery ignition like your engine but I don't think anyone in your neighborhood would have a key that fits. https://www.ebay.com/itm/313651602488?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A18QHST0QKSJu9_y6_XTyqhA40&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-213727-13078-0&mkcid=2&itemid=313651602488&targetid=4580153136941813&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=437225722&mkgroupid=1224856224320848&rlsatarget=pla-4580153136941813&abcId=9300906&merchantid=51291&msclkid=5bb7d60d753f1bacd11fb2c4f3a8c06b

2 pointsI checked for tie rod clearance and you were correct. I have a solution figured out that also makes installing the axle pivot easier. Thanks again Dick.

2 points@mower In the last picture, it looks like the black and silver ID tag is on the hood stand, below the steering wheel, in front of the lift lever. Tell us the numbers on it and we can identify it.

2 pointsWell. Kohler small block. Likely an 8 HP. Looks like an 8 speed transmission. Also has holes for a hood ornament which should place it before 1975. I'd say 1973 8 HP, 8 speed or a slightly earlier 8 like a 70 to 72 Raider.
-
2 pointsI found a good used set of 31x10.50-15 Mickeys in town today. They are WIDE on these 10” wheels! Creative use of bead sealer and the tire machine allows me to seat the bead by myself! I need a CHEETAH tank!
-
2 pointsThere's a fairly easy way to get the PTO belt on wrong with a half twist, but it looks like you managed to find an alternate way to do it with a full twist. But before awarding you a medal for that, I notice a couple other things in the photo. The trunnion that links the PTO hoop to the thrust shaft appears to be upside-down, and the engagement rod seems to be coming out at an odd angle. I can't see enough of the rod to tell what happened there, but this whole setup might bear some re-evaluation.
-
2 pointsLooking at the front axle layout your Tie-rod may be quite close to the bottom of the frame, might have to check that out before you committ to it and start the welding. Perhaps the spindles could be lowered a bit if clearance is a problem.
-
2 pointsThe main gas valve may be leaking by. Might be a leak in the pilot lines too. Even the smallest of leaks can cause a big smell. Soap suds would be your best friend in finding it. When I was a HVAC contractor I recommended what we called a hearth dealer. One who deals in gas fireplaces etc. I was never a believer on ventless products so my advice is to yank it out.

2 pointsSeems to me that the hood would look pretty cool on, let's say, maybe a dump truck build? @JPWH

2 pointsI'm not sure my standard offer of a few cups of good 🐻 coffee is going to be enough leverage to get him to drive all the way out here.

Wh is sure to take off now .. I know its dirty just been recently flooded and the deck had a mud bath . Hey Ed (in your photos) how do you squeeze the life outa those blades they must be a few inches shorter does your shape work well ? .... HI & Thanks everyone Reverse direction Might come in handy for trapping môles without the blood 🤣😂🤣😂
-
2 pointsYa know.... @Pullstart likes to drive all over the countryside so if you get sick of looking at that second 520 - 8 feel free to toss it in his truck and I'm sure Kevin would love to just drive it over to Maine for no reason.....
-
2 pointsHa! Thank You! Honestly, this one has been a lot of work! So many things found that needed repaired or replaced. Last night, I had to replace the headlight switch as it didn’t work. I know. Random event. At first I thought my wiring job was bad. This is one of many issues. Last night I fired it up for the first time. Have to pull the carb again, as I’m having issues with fueling. Plenty of fuel to the carb but seems like something is stuck in the main jet. To make matters worse, I now have another 520-8 sitting in the barn.🤪

2 pointsAny chance I get to run the ole’ man-o-meter I do! One time we had a sales rep ask us at the water heater manufacturer if we could send him a new scale for his customer’s roll up u tube manometer. We asked him if he had a tape measure, that should do just fine. For a long time, we couldn’t get through his sales driven mind that he doesn’t need a special scale, inches are inches.

2 points@Brockport Bill just checked , both of those / either bearing has the wide rubber side shields , perfect opportunity to do a carefull seal removal , clean out and repack with a hi temp grease , like a 550 + deg polyurea grease , it will not fail like the grease that was installed in there . only a suggestion , also do the same grease upgrade in the muel drive bearings , and inner needle bearing in the pto drive cone , imagine no bearing whine , solid smooth operation . only a suggestion , pete

2 pointsHave one. Same issue. Now it's a non-functioning flower stand. Gas shut off. Won't use it for all reasons noted by @rmaynard above.
-
2 pointsNot that it makes a difference other than the fact that natural gas is lighter than air and propane is heavier. Some suppliers add more "odor" to their gas. My son-in-law installed a ventless natural gas stove in his first house. I could never smell anything, but my wife could. I wouldn't think that it is gas you are smelling since if the pilot is constantly burning, gas if leaking, would be ignited by the pilot. Ventless gas appliances still output methane, O2, and a lot of moisture. I'm not sure that I would have one in my house. Contact a company that specializes in ventless gas appliances and have them check it.

2 pointsHey, I’ve got a GT14 with a tiller… once you get this thing put back together wanna trade? You’re doing great Matt, and to think I thought it was ready to go!

2 pointsI was lucky and caught it in time. I kept the Depends on it till I got it pumped out. The recycling center wanted a 12" hole in the side to prove it was cleaned out, would you believe I got 3 gallons of black sludge out of it? No wonder the tanks rot out with the oil suppliers selling such crap.
-
2 pointsI think you need to find a better doctor, it isn't like the good old days when the system passed you along till you got the help you need. It in now like pushing a rope, you or someone that has your back can not stand down and watch you decline. Make things happen, smoking dope might have some minor benefit for certain folks, but someone losing considerable weight needs the right attention. Kick some butt!
-
2 pointsRichard I know exactly what you are going through. I layed in the hospital for 5 weeks and lost 30 lbs but a lot of that was muscle. The good news is it you will be fine if you keep doing the exercises they tell you to do. GOD bless you my friend
-
2 pointsRight, wrong or indifferent feeling, I am proud of you for giving it a shot! I believe it has it’s acceptable time and place, like alcohol. There are thousands of strains and each one effects different people, well, differently. Personally, I can’t tolerate doing it, but support those who chose to legally and responsibly.

1 pointYeah, twenty years ago at a place where I worked had a weight loss competition. teams of 3. We weighed in at the the main warehouse. I got on the scale and it was 327. They started calling me Joey Small Block. I am still a small block but a 283.

1 pointYou can’t get it down to the frame and transmission and not paint it. Simply. Not aloud.
