Physical therapy became a whole lot more interesting this morning. Until today we had been concentrating on improving my ability to use the walker, this morning I left the walker behind and walked with one hand on the kitchen counter about ten feet then turned around and came back with the other hand on the counter. It was exhilarating and a bit frightening at the same time. My legs have lost a lot of strength and I have a lot of work to do before I will be walking but this was so encouraging.

Stripping down a junk deck before it goes to the scrapyard. Outer spindles are good, center is real bad. One deck wheel is new, other is newer but the wrong type. Rollers all seem decent, but blades are junk. All the good parts will end up in a plastic tote with 42SD written on it for future repairs.

Did this yesterday technically, but happy with the results so far. I had bought a Mighty Mac chipper at the big show that was mounted on a full size plow frame. I liked the idea, but it was HUGE as it went all the way to the rear axle. So I spent time the past few weeks cutting it down, bracing it, and modifying it to mount to the center and front hitch points. I finally got everything lined up last night, so I installed the belt and guard. I went to fire it up for a trial run and of course......the battery is dead. There can be no other way, LOL. And I can't lift the hood because of the belt guard. I did squeeze some leads in there for a battery charger, so hopefully I can fire it up tonight. Fingers crossed nothing flies apart. This thing is a beast

Great news! yes, muscles quickly atrophy when not in use. It is important to practice a lot, but not to overexert yourself. 👍

The area around the mountain here in Sandwich NH has been occupied by European folk since approximately the mid 1700s. The house building on the settlement you see here was built around 1830. It's been part of White Mountain National Forest since 1949.

I sure could use a farm hand some days! Straightening, then pulling the new 3/4” insulated line set kind of sucks! Our old A/C has been on limp mode for far too long. The fan seized up about a year or so ago and a cheap box fan has been plugged in sucking the heat out ever since. When playing with heat transfer, surface area is king. This new condenser is HUGE! Went with a piston coil for the furnace plenum and a new line set for the 410A system.

We went to Grandfather mountain in NC today. 5,300 feet. Pretty sure I slapped mine five times that much. Rock is rough on 'ol Pat and Charlie! My biscuits are burnin, let me tell ya! Pic below is view from the very top ledge. Wind was steady at about 20, gusting double that. Amazing that dozens don't fall every year.

About 2 years ago, I lost 80 lbs. in about 10 weeks. My health has been declining ever since. I have had x-rays, mri's, cat scans. blood tests, several "ostomys", and other assorted tests. So far, no one has been able to figure out anything. All I know is, some days it's a real struggle just to get through the day. In an effort to maybe help myself feel better, at the age of almost 70, I tried marijuana or the first time. Marijuana is legal in IL. and can be bought over the counter, no Rx needed,. I figured it couldn't hurt anything at this point. I figured wrong. I tried a little bit, didn't do anything. Tried a bit more, it put me out for 4 hours. Tried the middle of the road, and I stayed awake, and I feel somewhat better, but I am too d*** loopy to do anything. I can't believe people actually do this stuff for fun. Maybe I am doi9ng it wrong, I don't know. But I'm sure NOT going to practice !

I’m about as far from an expert as you can get. But aren’t there experts out there who can steer you to what dose, type, amount you should use? I know a couple people who chew a gummy type and swear it does improve their well being. I don’t have any medical issues so I’m not using it (unlike all the medical issues I was trying to cure in my teenage years ) … but if conventional meds weren’t cutting it I would definitely look into it.

It did not. The original plow frame went from the standard rear axle bracket to the mid mount bracket, but the raise/lower lever was not attached. If I had a hydro deck lift, I most certainly would have looked into a way to incorporating it to help lift it into place. The gentleman I bought it from said he designed it for his ease of attachment and moving it around......if you notice the wheels on the front of the chipper. He would flip those down, insert the pin that holds them, and then walk the whole assembly around like a wheel barrow. It worked very well as is, but took up too much room in my garage for my liking. I'm also a pretty big dude and "young" enough to not mind muscling things around a little. Attaching to the mid mount is pretty easy by myself, but I still put a floor jack under the front of the chipper to lift it into the front hitch point. When its off the tractor, I can also flip those wheels down and easily wheel it around.

Took advantage of a cooler day to haul two trailer loads of branches blown down in the last windstorm, trim dead boxwood branches and forsythia and uproot invasive grapevines, honeysuckle. And yeah, I know I shoulda done for the forsythia right after it bloomed in spring! Tomorrow it all goes through the chipper/shredder.

Had to email them to myself to shrink them. So much for airdrop. Had to show my sophisticated hillbilly cylinder head milling machine.

Yup, my father bought it in 87 and always kept it in the barn. After his passing I inherited it and immediately enlarged my small shed to keep it out of the weather. Dad was so so about maintenance and after 36 years the engine has now started to burn some oil. Plow and 36 RD deck and no rust anywhere. I consider myself lucky.

Sounds like those axles could be from a "D". When cutting the keyways keep in mind the area where the bearings ride on the axle is heat treated and will kill your milling machine bit. @ebinmaine had a thread a while back where he use a cut-off wheel and die grinder to cut a keyway.

Very interesting. Runs, needs a battery but its a pullstart I guess as well. Nephew asked if I was interested... I said ya need snow to even justify that. We don't see that here

Here is today's project. Finishing the roof on camp. Camp has consumed most of my time for a few months now. It's finally to the point I can take some time to get back to tractors.

Probably won't hurt the tire unless it sits in one place while running. I just angle mine forward.

I think you need to find a better doctor, it isn't like the good old days when the system passed you along till you got the help you need. It in now like pushing a rope, you or someone that has your back can not stand down and watch you decline. Make things happen, smoking dope might have some minor benefit for certain folks, but someone losing considerable weight needs the right attention. Kick some butt!

Right, wrong or indifferent feeling, I am proud of you for giving it a shot! I believe it has it’s acceptable time and place, like alcohol. There are thousands of strains and each one effects different people, well, differently. Personally, I can’t tolerate doing it, but support those who chose to legally and responsibly.

I finally shot and field dressed a whistle pig last week. It has been in a salt water brine for quite some time and today I smoked it at 180 for about 7.5 hrs. It’s ok. Not great. Pretty tough. Probably not worth the effort to continue the efforts for food.

I feel I must clarify. If one were given to me, I’d cherish it!

Been wanting to monitor the temps of my C-160 hydro. Last week it was super hot out and the lift valve gets pretty hot after an hour of mowing. Started brain storming. There are 2 threaded holes on the valve. Used one to clamp a bead type thermocouple and went to the Big Blue Box and got 2 4" square electrical boxes and tacked them together. Mounted it on rubber and put my digital thermometer inside. Started out on a 73° day and it topped out at 112° . I know it's not 100% accurate but it gets me in the zip code. 2 bolts hold it on in the original holes so it comes off in a minute.

Pleased we don't need aircon.

@CCW have my horses many years , my c85 over 40, something very easy to try on a gain , KROIL OIL FUEL TREATMENT , in the gas , does an amazing job at cleaning piston ring glands and varnish , typically whenever I experiment , it takes time . would also drop fuel bowl for debris and change fuel filter , that deck could probably use a lubrication soak underside . proped up to sun on the deck lift frame , looking at the sun to get hot and suck in the oil , kills off the grunge . that plow could ude a lubrication detailing at the plow quadrant area , like a gold mine for easy operation. regularly done those 2 easy enhancements to my horses . also regularly use a penetrating oil spray down on the paint , let it soak a day , wipe it down till dry with a soft clean cloth , do it again ,paint usually starts to look deeper in color . leave it in the sun with the oil on it , warm metal draws in the lubrication . lots of things you might try . only suggestions that I have used for years . pete

Thanks for the mention Richard. I did try but my hands and forearms just weren't steady enough to keep the machine in place. @Oldskool Mike has done it with success so maybe he could offer better pointers than I.

You can tell by the WH decal that it's a mid 60's to early 70's blade. Mid 70's they switch to the large WHEELHORSE script

All of mine do that unless I throttle back to idle for a few seconds before shutdown. I see @wallfish mentioned full throttle. I guess it's how rich the old Kohler is running at both ends of the throttle range.

Ya know, I remember many times in my youth seeing temps over 100, with matching humidity. It's just part of living in the south. But now I'm spoiled and old, and 92 just flat out sucks! I've started waiting until 7:00PM to mow the grass lately. Gives me two hours before dark, because you can't mow dew-covered mornings. Plus I no longer drag my dead butt out of bed before 8:00. Working from home has made me soft!

It is 1-1/4 turns. This will get you started, then fine tune the screw for the best low speed idle after the engine has been warmed. From the manual:

Although the choke cable looks close to the governor arm it was not a culprit in the misconfiguration. I tried it under the arm and it was not going to work. Good news. As usual you all have the right answer right away. I'm grateful to have your support. I adjusted the governor and arm per the manual and voila!, the low throttle idle and high throttle position both work great. Mowed the rest of the yard for another hour and no hiccups or issues. Thanks again to all.

Old girl finally made her first show. Sad lack of WH's this year at Eliot, lack of attendees in general as all shows are nowadays. A good time overall though. Ice cream was made via Clinton engine and the little Horse belt started a dead John Deere LA so that was fun.

Bought a hitch sleeve insert from parts ‘n more. Hooked up the 753 to the hay wagon and took it for a test drive around the neighborhood.
