9 pointsThis popped up on my YouTube feed. Excellent idea. Great for fuel tank repair if using stainless mesh or wool. Just thought I’d share. https://youtu.be/N9RC3-qgNzU

9 pointsAround twenty years ago I worked with an old German guy who had an unbelievable collection of vintage motorcycles. He had literally a small museum of maybe 30 bikes. He was moving to Colorado and couldn’t take all the bikes with him because of the cost and he would not have a proper storage space for them. What he did next, I will never forget. He gave most ( not all ) away! He told me that to him it was not about the money, but knowing that they would be in the right hands of people that appreciate them. Now I’m no motorcycle expert by any means, but I know damn well that some of these bikes were worth a pretty penny. I was there when people he knew through his motorcycle world came from all over, most from far away. I could tell by watching him as they loaded up his treasures it was bittersweet. Once I thought he might cry, but he didn’t. BTW this guy was BIG and looked like he could kill you with one hand!! The smile on the people’s face receiving these bikes eventually made all of us smile. I remember back then thinking, I wonder if this will be me with my Wheel Horse collection? And I suppose it probably will.

6 pointsTraded in my Nissan Altima for this 2022 Sportage. AWD and heated seats will be nice for my ride to work in the winter . Not a fancy rig but it does have all the lane departure/crash warning stuff, automatic high beams, apple carplay for navigation and tunes etc. The Altima was a good car but that Nissan CVT (continuous variable transmission) has the worse reputation of all the manufacturers that use a CVT. There’s a class action lawsuit against Nissan for the trannys and a few weeks ago I get a letter telling me that Nissan has extended the warranty on the CVT only up to 84,000 miles…not happy as I was at 79,000 miles. Didn’t give me a feeling of confidence at all. So traded it in.

5 pointsMrs. P’s company has a car show on Thursday, August 10. Yesterday, she and I discussed getting “Ole’ Smoky” out of mothballs. No, we don’t actually use mothballs… it’s just been stored far too long. I tossed a battery in it, cranked it over until oil pressure presented itself on the gauge, then rapped the throttle a few times and cranked it again. Oh that sound! A desperate bath was in need. Tires are also. There will be a tractor in the back for the show. It’s been a catch all for a while, from spare camping gear to K91s and everything in between.

5 pointsDoing a little sorting cleaning organizing this morning amongst other stuff. We used the Cinnamon Horse C160 to move the 20' utility trailer frame.

5 points"Knock on wood" or I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have been in that state of mind for decades now. We had our whole-house A/C installed in 1989. At the time we decided that getting the best unit available would pay off in the long run. Well we got a Trane XL-1200, and we've gotten more than our money's worth. Did I say 1989? Yes I did. The unit has NEVER been service since, and as of today it still cools like the day it was installed. There is something to be said about buying the best, then "leave the sleeping dog lie". Kinda like a Wheel Horse.

5 pointsIm 42 and growing up my dad was a wheel horse guy, I had no interest in them and couldn’t understand why he loved them. Until he passed away last year. I inherited a 312-8 from him which I started to wrench on because it reminds me of him the most. I now have 3 horses that I wrench on and will acquire more. So I now understand the draw these tractors have and I'm sure that future generation will too.

5 pointsHard to say what will happen not only to my Wheel Horses but ally other stuff, tools, etc. My kids are 17 & 20. They aren't too interested in most my stuff. My son shows some interest in a few of my vintage motorcycles, 2 of which my dad purchased brand new in the 1970s. My daughter definitely wants my vintage BMW. My girlfriend developed a medical condition a few years ago so she's no longer able to drive so I imagine as I get older I'll end up selling off my old cars. I will try to find " the right person" to sell my cars to. For example the guy I sold my 604 to bought it for his grandkids to enjoy & to start helping him doing small farm chores. Tools?? Does the younger generation even work on anything anymore? I do have a 9yr old neighbor kid that sometimes comes over when I'm out in garage. Good kid, being raised by his mom & there's no father around (I haven't asked) I told her he's welcome anytime I'm out in garage. Maybe there's some hope? He did want a weed eater trimmer for his birthday so his mom bought him one. My 20yr old nephew is an extremely talented welder/fabricator. He spends some time at my place when he can. He works for company that builds almost all the semi trailers that nascar, Indy, etc use for their teams/pit crew tools. He travels a lot but get to go to so many races. That would been my dream job at his age.

5 pointsThat’s the weather we were looking at in STL this week. at least it’s not Mississippi or Louisiana. It always tickled me when i lived in northern Indiana and spent big swaths of time in MeChicken to hear people complain about the heat and humidity. Or when we’d go fishing in northern MN and would hit a “hot” spell…if they only knew! Of course your winters make up for it… Steve PS - ‘MeChicken’ is a portmanteau of ‘me’ and ‘chicken’ which were somehow the autocorrects of however i misspelled Michigan. I liked it so I kept it.

5 pointsOne of the advantages of living on the coast and the east end of Long Island is that we are surrounded by water. The sea breeze off the ocean helps keep us cool in the summer and warmer in the winter. Only a matter of twenty miles to the west the temperature in the summer can be 10-15 degrees hotter in the summer. Don’t get me wrong, it still gets hot but it’s usually only a few days at a time. Water temps are in the 70’s in the ocean and almost 80 in the bays. Just went swimming in the bay after a nice BBQ on the beach with my family. Summertime is in full swing! I love it!

4 pointsMachined one hub today. Had to make a spacer so the hub would fit right. Also got the spindle sleeves machined for the thrust bearings.

4 pointsSuch irony, we decide to get the truck out yesterday and today had a couple hours for a motorcycle ride. We literally stumbled into a car show in a neighboring town. There were so many rides, and so little time. We enjoyed the scenery more than trying to capture it.

4 pointsGave my 310-8 a real workout today doing some mowing. Did a great job and layed some nice stripes!

3 pointsDash refurb update. At this point I am about ready to apply the decals. Prep work is all done. With the heat wave I decided to move indoors to finish up with the A/C on. Been way to hot in the shop. Some more pictures of the progress made. Will post more pics when I screw up / finish the decals. Meet & Greet will be here before you know it and would like to have the LSE be in the line up with everyone else.

3 pointsI happened upon a “new” commuter vehicle today too! I nabbed a 2000 S10 Blazer ZR2 4x4 for little to nothing, delivered! It runs good and needs a lot of polishing up inside and out. And some brake line work *the best part, is I probably have one new truck payment into this purchase
-
3 pointsNew fuel shut off on C105. Got up for work this morning & smelled fuel. Took a bit to figure out what it was. Minibike? Motorcycles? Moped? Which tractor? Outboard on boat? Still waiting on my pulley so can't do anything more with the RJ.
-
3 pointsSo you traded in your wife's car hey Mike Sorry I just had to do it. Inside joke guy's. Like the new one, nice color too. Should be great in the snow

3 pointsI needed looks good, runs good to get approval from accounting. In my area, I'm seeing $800+ for looks good, runs good and cuts grass. But I was patient and hit the JACKPOT after waiting for months. Now just needs a little PM over time. Adjustments and maybe touch up paint. Right now, awaiting arrival of a contractor.

3 pointsUS fanny pack UK bum bag US onesie UK romper suit US jello UK jelly US pinkie UK little finger One that tickles me with Australians is the word ROOT. To them it is really rather a reference word for the sex act. One of our best cricketers is called Joe Root which must sound odd to our kangaroo riding friends. Also if I was looking for something I'd be rooting around in the drawer. The image that must conjour up in an Auzzies mine. Finally on the upside down people, I saw a piece on their television news about a hotel room that had been trashed by wild birds that had flown in and messed everywhere. The lady whos room had been messed up was pretty upset. The newsman said I wonder if its the first time she's had a cockatoo in her bedroom. Think about it.....

3 pointsMy wife and I take the same view. Research and buy the best you can afford. Our top-of-the-line Amana system system failed (dead compressor) last summer after 39 years. We also had to replace the still-working-fine evaporator coil because it was for the older, now banned refrigerant and rated for lower pressure than the new system and refrigerant. Thankfully, the original heavier duty refrigerant piping was still usable. I was interested to see that the fittings were all silver soldered to withstand the higher pressures/vacuums as well. As he was cleaning up after the job, the installer asked why “folks like you" were spending extra money for another top quality system (he probably assumed we were ready for a retirement home or about to kick the bucket). I told him it was so I would likely never see him again--he got pretty quiet after that.

3 pointsWe can only hope. I'm 52. Maybe as my kids get older they will appreciate not only my Wheel Horses but my cars, motorcycles, tools, minibikes, snowmobiles, etc. I'd rather pass that stuff on then sell it to a stranger. I still have & periodically ride my dad's 1969 Bultaco Matador MK3. He bought it brand new in 1969 after getting home from Vietnam. Fortunately, my dad is still alive but this year he's had some serious health issues & is no longer able to ride. I still remember being a young kid back in the 70s riding on the back on way home from bar with dad doing wheelies. And if course....no helmets! The good old days ......
-
3 pointsYes, my wife also thinks I'm a tractor dork, but smiles and laughs about it. When she sees me looking at pictures on this forum, I say I'm looking at "tractor porn" and she laughs, and I know she's glad I'm doing that and not looking at "actual" porn. She's been very supportive of my tractor hobby. I try to keep the shop time to a reasonable amount so she won't get frustrated with me.

2 pointsIt was 90 here today and a a dew-point in the 70's, AC is running hard. Might have to chain the electric meter to the house if it keeps up, spinning hard!

2 pointsHad a move round in the workshop today and got the C-81 with finger bar out of it's resting place. Could be put to work tomorrow, so gave it a check over and put the battery on charge. Not that it was flat. Also made some new rubber travel bump stops for the 42" deck.

2 pointsTo be accurate on a price we'd really have to see pics. Wrong hid isn't a huge issue as long as the existing hood fits well. Decals will solve that. What condition issues does it have? Up here anything that runs and cuts grass is worth $400+ no matter the condition. Add for desirable model. Add for K341. Add for snow mover. Subtract for repairs and maintenance needed. The only correct selling price is the one that makes all involved parties agreeable. Just as a parts pile ... that's worth a minimum 500 to 700.

2 pointsAlready 90 here , calling for 98 with heating index of 110 , this ole goat is staying inside.

2 pointsI grew up in SE Missouri, Cape Girardeau. I do NOT miss it at all. I remember in school getting let out early cause it hit 100 before noon. Humidity so thick you could see it. Good luck. 😉

2 pointsI'm glad people take the time to post things like this. I have a very similar brochure for gravely attachments it has some things pictured in there I never knew existed for sale. The cigar / cigarette lighter. It can be used for a gps to see how fast you are going and how many miles you are cutting when you mow😄
-
2 pointsYou get her a few. My Trina has 5 that are HERS. She..... isn't exactly like most other female woman people though. 🥰

2 pointsThanks. When I got it. It had a hole by the deck height lever. I had to weld a patch. Redrill mounting holes, jb weld and bondo the outside of it where it was uneven. It's not perfect, but it is way better. The spindles were really wobbly. Took all 3 apart. One shaft was so worn down that someone tried using jb weld to fix it. I had my dad make a new shaft on his lathe but his lathe isn't true, so then I had my machinist friend take it to work to make it true. Bought new bearings. I try to keep things as original as possible. Replaced some bolts, used some of the original bolts. New deck wheels. Spray cans for the paint. No clear coat because I plan to restore the rest of the tractor as some point and I will repaint the deck again so the color matches. I am currently using it to cut my yard and I love it. My wife thinks I'm a dork hahaha, but I love these tractors as well as others.

2 pointsI rebuilt the mower deck and painted it. Wasn't easy as I had to have a spindle shaft remade from scratch.
