I just got off the phone with 953nut and he's doing great. He gets to go home to North Carolina this week. He's in good spirits talking up a storm. Thank you all for your prayers. GOD is in control.

Happy 4th, USA people. While I often disagree with our government, politicians, and at least 1/3 of the citizens, I consider myself blessed to have been born in this country. Here's to the next 3 years to hit 250, and the next 250 years. Four of my five - the B-100 is in the garage on blocks. Not dragging that out, but didn't need to.

Trina spent a few minutes setting up a photoshoot with our 4 main workers. When I saw the result I decided to make a video.

You don't find this part N.O.S. too often ......... it's an ignition switch and starter button relocation box. When installing the HY-2 kit on an early '60's round hood Wheel Horse models the Hein Warner pump had to be mounted on the hood stand right wear the ignition switch and starter button originally located. They almost had to recall all the cars after they moved the dimmer switch to the steering column. Too many blondes were getting their foot caught in the steering wheel when they tried to dim the lights.

I finally decided to restore my grandpa's 1974 C-120 with the original HH120 motor on it. It will be a big project and i look forward to getting it completed for everyone to see! I would like to hear anyone's criticism or advice as i have never done a project this big especially engine work on this level! Happy 4th to everyone out there! BTW he (my grandpa) is waving at everyone in the picture!

No AC??? My '70 Impala had genuine GM 4-60 AC. 4 windows down at 60MPH. Open the floor vents & it was a regular whirl wind in there.

and wrench sizes are in most cases but not always 50% larger than the thread diameter 5/8" diameter thread plus 50% = 5/8"+5/16" = 15/16" wrench size 3/4" diameter thread plus 50% = 3/4"+3/8" = 1-1/8" wrench size

Jim, you're right. At the risk of sounding like a reminiscing old boomer, life was much simpler back in the 60's, 70's and 80's. I'd love to have that time machine to go back to those days and enjoy life as we knew it then. Both of my children would go with me too. They are not ok with all the madness of 2023. Thinking about it, maybe our Wheel Horse hobby is somewhat of a time machine for us here on Red Square.

Learned to drive in a 63 Impala straight six with 3 on the tree and yeah it had a dimmer switch on the floor too.

Not an end of the world option. A Kohler K181 would be a better option & less noticable. They a bit easier to find.

Suck down that WH whiskey and they'll probably drop right off dead. Or, you won't feel'm or even care if they're there. Either way win win (except for the headache the next day). Plus we get the "hold my glass and watch this" videos! Add another win! LoL

So I removed the sediment bowl from the 875 today. Replaced it less the 2 yrs ago. Was leaking like crazy again. I strongly recommend never installing one unless you want to change them every other year. 875 is back in action.

I remember those days, column shift 3 on the tree, no air conditioning mostly. Foot dimmer,25 cent gas…oops showing my age.

All this organization!! I learned my parts organization from @WHX??. Open the door on the shed, toss it in there, & hope you can get the door closed. Won't matter anyway, I'll forget that I have the part when needed. Will find the needed part after I buy a different one.

OK so theres no denying it, we like old machinery. We all have old Wheel Horses, some of us have old boats, old chainsaws, old motorcycles, old hit and miss engines, and old cars and trucks. So how many of you have an old car or truck with the headlight dimmer switch on the floor and a "Three on the Tree" shifter for your transmission ? For those who do, please post some pics of course. I would really like to see them. Here's the dimming and shifting setup on my 1965 Ford F100

Now if the NY DEP catches you dunking a trailer (or boat) that’s been in another body of water and not thoroughly washed since you’ll get a summons for possibly transferring invasive flora or fauna.

I sold more sediment bowl gaskets at Napa than I could count. Sediment bowls are French for "Gas Leak" Whoever was the first person to patent them stole the idea from Joseph Lucas!

This appears to be the switch you have but function needs to be confirmed to be sure. Still a very popular switch.

So wrong on so many levels...... the thought of a JD Dealer ALSO selling Wheel Horse tractors - must have had two different showrooms to prevent arguments......

This canary loves pulled pork. I'll bring some homemade Smokehouse Maple BBQ sauce to Portage.

This is the first thing I check when looking a Wheel Horse that's for sale. A worn throttle shaft bushing can make an otherwise excellent shape Kohler run completely awful. No amount of adjusting the carburetor will compensate for the wear in and around that bushing.

Yes, I remember seeing this done a couple of times back in the 70's Thank you for bringing back a good old memory

I'd love to go up there and hang out with you guys some day! Couple of cocktails, couple of D jokes, couple of steaks, couple of tractors, couple of days. Sounds like fun!

Our first 2nd car (mom got the newer one, dad drove the 2nd to work) was a '63 Fairlane. Straight 6, 3 in the tree, and the dimmer on the floor. My dad taught my oldest sister how to drive a stick in that car. Was in th we winter time. He started her out on one of the side streets that was still snow covered. When she got the hang of the clutch, he moved her to a dry, clear street. I saw one of her early attempts at slipping the clutch on start up as she went by the house - the car made about three hops as it went down the block. I just happened to remember - I've got a 3 speed Hurst shifter on the 4 speed in my 57 Chevy. Have a second lever for reverse. Does this count?

My grandfather taught me and my older brothers how to drive on an old work van with 3 on the tree. I was only 14 but it's a memory I'll never forget. Took us all to a parking lot and he spent hours with us until we got it. Only the oldest Paul was old enough to drive and recently got his license but he was all about efficiency!

I'm just old enough to have experienced the uniqueness of a three on the tree. This was dad's first new " official " shop truck: a 1973 F100, 302 3spd on the tree. I can remember sitting on his lap steering and shifting while he worked the pedals. I have driven others ( legally ) as I got older but this was the best

Well it looked like an old skool starter switch didn't it? Chime in you young pups if you don't know what we are yakin about and we'll edumacate you! You need to invent a time machine Van so we can go back to simple times...

OK, here is a 1966 Chevelle you don't see everyday. For sale at last years Fall Rod Run in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. It has a 283 cubic inch V8 and a three speed column shift. The car was in terrific shape and I wanted it so bad because of the column shift. Alas, I could not come to terms with the $49,500 price tag (and yes, the dimmer switch was on the floor. I checked)

Agree with @Sparky above. There are Kohler OE carb rebuild kits available. That's the way to go.
  50. 3 points
Quicker yes. But the aftermarket carburetor’s aren’t always good to go out of the box. Quite a few guys here have had to adjust and work on them right away. Personally I would prefer to have my original rebuilt. It’s also a great way to learn about the Kohler carbs.
